15 years had passed since Veera left for delhi for better education.
And alot had changed especially in the past 5 years. Pritampura was
no more the free village Veera left behind, it was different and now
ruled by a single person, whom everybody obeyed, who was the
richest and who had all the power of the village in his hands.
All the villagers were either under his debt and serving him to
compensate or were working for him to be in his good books. His
anger was enough to shatter their lives and destroy their families,
making them jobless , homeless and on the verge of begging. No
one had the bone to stand up against him, that was his horror.
Among these villagers was ranvi too, who had taken alot of loan
,from the new surpunch, for veera's education and the time to pay
had passed, he was bankrupt and even after selling all his
belongings, even furniture, he didn't make enough money to clear
the debt, and now, like all other villagers, he was working in his old
fields which now belonged to the new owner. Even chaiji and ratan
had to work to get some money for their living and for veera.
Ranvi's house was nothing but walls now, he had to sell all his
furniture and other appliances too, they didn't even have a matress
to sleep on, just a sheet and 4 pillows, because Chaiji was too old
to sleep on the floor with any support, Ranvi got some hay and
made a bed for her, she looked like sleeping in a nest. Their clothes
were piled up in one corner of the house and the kitchen
demolished, Ratan cooked outside the house now. Most of the
rooms were now converted into store rooms for crops and the
family received a fair amount as rent. Every single penny mattered
now and they lost no opportunity to earn some rupees. the only
room that was left untouched on Ranvi's insistence was Veera's
room, the furniture was sold but the room was still theirs to use. It
had only walls and Veera's photos on them. Ranvi and family were
living a life of complete misery which was completely unkown to
Veera who was happy in her delhi life.
And as if this was not it, the new owner of the village, as he called
himself, had friends who bullied and irritated the villagers, the took
illegal taxes from the shop owners and threatened them.
Overall Pritampura was in distress, the owner was a pain to all and
too dominating, and all had no choice but obey him.
And that owner and new surpunch of the village was none other
than...Baldev

Ranvi woke up in the morning, he checked his second hand only cell
phone in the house and was alarmed.
Ranvi; aaj to veerakhdi ki pariksha ka result he yani do din baad wo
ghar wapas ajayegi..ab ki hoga.
He wanted her out of this mess forever but he didn't have the
required means for that..he felt very helpless as he thought of
Veera's reaction and the thought of his loving sister sleeping on the
bare floor and eating only rice everyday or plain bread. He had
pampered her in every way and treated her like a princess and now
she would serve baldev to in one way or the other which was too
painful for Ranvi.
Ratan woke up, Ranvi informed her about his concerns for Veera
ratan; ab kab tak wo rajkumarion ki zindagi jeeyegi akhir to pta
chalna hi tha na..aur wese bhi aaj jo hum is haal me hen na wo sb
uski hi wja se he, aur na sirf hum balke pura pind..hamare gareeb
hote hi hamara rutba is pind me khatam aur phir sb pind walon k
sath wahi hua jo hamare sath hua aur rokne ki na hamari auqat thi
aur na taqat.
Ranvi; pr bg me apni veerakhdi ko...
Ratna; bas Ranvi..bas kr ab kya ye ghar bech k jhopdi me jane ka
irada he tera? menu jaldi jana he warna malkin naraz hojayengi aur
menu daantengi..Chaiji ko bhi utha de..agar malkin k uthne se pehle
nashta nhi bana to hamnari tankhua me se paise katenge.
Ranvi was speechless..he was the reason that his mother had to
work in some1's house as a maid and even Chaiji had to work as a
cook. And they both worked for Bansuri..the new queen of
pritampura.
Ratan and Chaiji left quickly after having tea, Ranvi left for the
fields.
Chaiji prepared breakfast in bansuri's kitchen while ratan started
cleaning.
Balwant woke up and saw them, he came to chaiji
Balwant; menu maaf krdo chaiji..is umar me aap ko ye sb krna pad
rha he..wo bhi mere nalayaq puttar ki wja se
Chaiji; na balwante is me tera koi dosh nhi..Baldev k bigadne me sirf
bansuri ka haath he..aur teri sunta hi kon he ab..teri halat konsi hum
se behtar he..ab ja wrna bansuri uth gai to hum sbki khatiya khadi
kr degi wo.
Balwant left helplessly..he was nothing but an old chair whom
nobody sat on in his house. Baldev barely talked or looked at him,
Bansuri only scolded him while Gunjan sometimes showed some
sympathy.
Bansuri was now a changed woman, loaded with gold from head to
toe in her new silk dress she descended the stairs and sat on the
dining chair. Her look, dressing hairstyle everything changed and
she wore a small tiara shaped comb on her head daily.
Bansuri; O ratan ki kr rhi he changi tarah safai kr..farash inna saaf
ho k chehra dikhai de
Ratan; jee malkin.
Bansuri took a sip of tea and then spit it out.
Bansuri; e ki he chaiji?..inni peekhi chai?! (she shouted) cheeni
tumhare ghar se a rhi thi jo inni kam he?! ja k doosri changi meethi
chai bna k la mere waste
Chaiji had made a mistake she served gunjan's tea to bansuri by
mistake and now had to face her anger. Among all the
villagers..sampooran's family was having the worst life as they were
the reason of this destruction.
Chaiji served another cup which Bansuri drank in peace..no day
passed where she didn't shout of ratan or chaiji, but they had no
way out.
It was 10;24 am when the surpunch/king of pritampura left his
room and came downstairs.
And not just by name but he was a king from his looks too,in a
golden silk shining kurta and imported leather jacket he walked
with grace in the hall towards the table, his curly hair combed and
still wet, his black silk shalwar giving the reflection like a mirror, his
long pointed shoes perfectly polished and his presence made the
hall glowing. He was not smiling, as he didn't smile from the past 5
years, so much had happened, so many things changed and he
himself changed into a heartless soul who never smiled, or felt
anything. He was immune to all the pain of others and his own, he
just had a bold always angry look on his face, and his eyes always
burning because of what he did this to the village. His anger was so
dangerous that the mere thought left the person shivering, his voice
so intense that it was enough to get a person on his feet, and if he
ever raised his hand, that might break the bones of the person
infront. This was Baldev Singh..surpunch of pritampura who had not
won the hearts of people...but won the village itself..who was once
rejected and now ruled like a king with everybody under his control
and whom no one can defeat.
