Mouni Roy recently addressed her fans after announcing her separation. The actress shared a note requesting privacy during this personal phase of her life. Soon after making the announcement, Mouni opened up about a topic that goes beyond relationships and spoke about dealing with pain, betrayal and disappointment caused by people in life.
In a recent conversation with The Free Press Journal, Mouni revealed how her approach towards forgiveness has changed over the years. The actress shared that her spiritual journey has helped her understand the importance of letting go and not carrying the burden of past hurts. She explained that while forgiving came naturally to her earlier as well, forgetting the pain was something she struggled with.
“When I was much younger, I would forgive very easily and till date, I do but I wasn't able to forget. Now, I think with my own personal and spiritual journey, I feel like you just have to forgive, God makes you forget,” she shared.
Talking about why holding on to resentment can affect a person more than anyone else, Mouni compared emotional pain to holding something harmful for a long time. She explained that the person who causes hurt may not even realise the impact of their actions, while the person carrying the pain continues to suffer.

“If you don’t let it go, you will be the one who will be hurting the most. And sometimes the other person who hurt you is not even thinking about it, no matter how big a hurt they have caused you,” she said, adding that meditation, chanting, and spiritual practices have helped her find peace over time.
The actress also clarified that forgiveness does not mean ignoring harmful behaviour or allowing people to repeatedly hurt you. She acknowledged that there are individuals who intentionally spread negativity and cause pain to others. However, she believes it is important to separate a person's actions from their entire identity.
“There are some evil people who will go out of their way to hurt you. I’m not calling the person evil, but I’m calling their qualities evil,” she clarified.
