Chapter 38

"I still can not believe it!!" said Arnav as he walked up and down his cabin waiting for the culprit to arrive. Aman too was still in shock. Khushi had not reached the office yet. Arnav told Mansi to send Khushi to his cabin as soon as she arrives. Arnav was boiling in anger recalling everything Khushi had gone through.

There was a knock at the door. "May I come in Sir?" they heard a sweet voice.

"Come in!!" said Arnav clenching his fists as Aman tried to calm him down.

Shikha entered with a smile on her face. But Arnav's angry gaze drove her smile away.

"I had not expected this from you... How dare you!... How dare you try to kill Khushi?!!!" Arnav roared.

Shikha's face was white in scare. "How did he know?" she thought.

And then Arnav showed her the CCTV footage. She was shocked to see it... and ashamed.

"She could have died Shikha!!! Do you realise that?!!! You tried to kill Khushi!!" yelled Arnav. Shikha hung her head in shame as her eyes watered. "Why?! Why did you do all that to her?! Why are you trying to ruin her? What wrong has she done to you?!" asked Arnav. Shikha remained silent. "Answer me damn it!!! I am asking you!!" yelled Arnav and that made Shikha shiver. Tears rolled down her eyes.

"Shikha," said Aman trying to be soft, "You can not deny this! Now tell us, why did you do all this? Why are you against Khushi?!"

"Because she took everything away from me!!" cried Shikha. "Everything was great till she joined the company. She came and suddenly got all the attention... and..."

"She got attention because she deserved it!!" said Arnav, "Do you understand?!! She deserved every bit of it!!" Arnav stressed on every word as he said it.

"No!!! She didn't!! I deserved it!!" cried Shikha wiping her tears. "She took away my respect, she took away my post, she took away my project and she took away my Arnav!!"

Arnav stared at her in shock and surprise. Though Aman knew it was coming, he was shocked too.

"What?!" exclaimed Arnav, "What do you mean?!!"

"I love you Arnav!! I love you so much!! But you don't love me!! Instead, you love her!! I waited for that love for two years and she got it in a few months!! That's not fair Sir!! Not at all!!"

Arnav was numb for a moment after hearing it. "What rubbish?!!" he exclaimed. "I don't love anyone!! I can't love anyone!! I hate this word... I just hate this 'love'...!! And know it very clear, I will NEVER love anyone!! There is nothing worse than 'love' in this world!! It is all rubbish!!" said Arnav. He himself was confused. "And YOU!! How dare you say that to me!! How dare you say that you love me!!" Arnav was breathing heavily in anger. He breathed in deeply. There was silence for a moment. Arnav broke the silence saying, "I want you out right now!! Leave... AT ONCE!!! And don't forget to leave your resignation at the reception. I don't want to see you EVER again!!" Shikha looked at him in shock, her pleading eyes telling him to change his decision. "GO!!" he yelled and Shikha ran out of the cabin crying.

Aman was surprised at Arnav's reaction. "Arnav, relax yaar! Why are you so angry at her? Look, we all know that you love Khushi and..."

"Oh stop it!! Now you have started too, Aman?!! You know very well that I will never love anyone!! Because 'love' is very deceptive and it destroys the lives of people!! Do you understand?!!" said a determined Arnav.

Aman was totally surprised. "You are wrong Arnav... Arnav, think over it again... Ask yourself, can you live without her? Are you happy without Khushi?" Aman tried to make Arnav understand.

"Please stop this nonsense Aman!! Please!!" said Arnav. "Look Aman, you are my best friend... and I don't want to lose you over this stupid quarrel. So PLEASE!! I don't want to talk about it any more!!"

Khushi, Anjali and Shyam arrived at the office. Anjali and Shyam wanted to talk to Khushi about the recent events... that is, about Arnav and her. As they parked their bikes in the parking area, Anjali initiated the conversation.

"Khushi," said Anjali, "we wished to ask you something..."

"Are you taking my permission?!" asked Khushi in surprise. She laughed, "Okay... you have the permission!!" said Khushi as she winked.

Anjali and Shyam exchanged glances.

"Khushi, what's with you and Arnav Sir?" asked Anjali, "Uh, I mean, do you... you know what I mean... right?"

Khushi blushed. "Well, I don't know! I think I like him!" said Khushi.

Anjali and Shyam were surprised.

"And does he like you too?" asked Shyam.

"I don't know! I think he does, but..." replied Khushi.

"Oh my God!! Khushi!!" said Anjali in excitement, "I don't believe it!! I mean... Great!!"

"What great?!! Haan?" said Shyam, disappointed. "Khushi, forget all this, okay?" he said plainly. Khushi and Anjali didn't understand his reaction. "Look Khushi, he is a very rich and a high-class person! Try to understand Khushi, all this means nothing to him! He is playing with you, I am sure of it! Believe me Khushi, you will regret later...! So better you stop all this now itself!"

"No Shyam, he not a person as you think... You are saying all this because you don't know him yet! Arnav Sir is a very simple and a very nice person! I know him!" said Khushi defending Arnav.

The three walked to the reception still arguing over this when Mansi told Khushi that she was called in Arnav's cabin right now.

Khushi knocked and entered Arnav's cabin to see Aman and Arnav quarrelling over something. Both were silent as Khushi entered. Both were staring at her. She was confused. She looked at Arnav and asked, "Sir, you called me?"

Arnav didn't say anything. He just looked away from her and walked out of the cabin leaving Khushi confused and Aman disappointed.

Aman showed Khushi the CCTV footage and Khushi was shocked to know that Shikha was doing everything. She couldn't believe her eyes. Aman told her that Arnav had fired her demanding her resignation. He didn't tell her the other details of course.

Though Khushi was very angry with Shikha, she felt bad for her too. And why did Arnav leave on seeing Khushi? Khushi didn't understand that. "May be Arnav Sir is upset after knowing that Shikha was behind all that happened. I know how to lighten up his mood!! Today I will tell him what I feel for him!!" she thought happily and left the cabin.
