Chapter 6

"Come in..." replied Arnav.

Khushi pushed open the door and walked in. She stood at her place, scared to speak. Arnav, who was working on his laptop, wondered why there was no reply from the person who entered. He looked up only to see Khushi.

"Aa gayi subah subah mera dimag khaane..." he murmured in irritation. "What?!!" he asked.

"Aap ki s..s..sign chahiye thi..." Khushi mumbled. "Mansi told me to..."

Before Khushi could complete, Arnav interrupted. "Yeah yeah, fine!! Give me the papers...!!"

Khushi walked upto him and Arnav snatched the papers from her hand. He signed at a couple of places and flung the papers at Khushi. Khushi got hold of them and hurried out. "Kaisa aadmi hai yeh...!!" she thought. How rude!

The next moment, Khushi again entered the cabin. Arnav was very irritated. "Now what?!!!" He roared.

"Mansi has told me to sign in the register that is with you..." replied Khushi in a low voice.

Arnav slid his chair across the floor towards the shelf. He got the register and banged it on the table. Khushi's eyes flickered at the loud noise.

"Search your name in this and sign in front of it...!!" ordered Arnav and he continued his work on the laptop.

Khushi quickly walked ahead and began searching her name in the register. There were thousands of names. It was not easy to find out her name. Finally, after many efforts, Khushi found it. "Mil gaya!!" she cried as if she had achieved something great. Found it!! Arnav threw an angry glance at her. Her excitement died away.

"Ab jaldi se sign karo and just leave!!" said Arnav.

Khushi opened her satchel to take out her pen. She couldn't find it. "Kahan gaya... yahin toh dala tha... Where did it go?" she thought. "Hey Devi Maiyya... I forgot to put the pen in my bag!! I left it on my table!!" she realized.

"Kya hua?? What are you waiting for??!! Ab kya mahurat nikaaloon sign karne ke liye...!!!" said Arnav sarcastically.

"Woh... main..."

"Yeh main-main kya kar rahi ho?"

"Main pen laana bhool gayi..." told Khushi innocently. I forgot to get my pen.

"What the?!!!" Arnav nodded his head in disappointment. He took out his pen from his chest pocket and kept it forcefully on the register.

"Lo...!!! Kar lo sign... aur niklo yahan se...!! And please don't come back!" Arnav sighed.

As Khushi signed in the register, she heard Arnav say "Pata nahi Aman ne iss ladki mein kya dekha...!!" Don't know what Aman saw in this girl that he selected her!

Khushi felt offended on hearing this. But she had no chance to defend herself, atleast not at this moment. She silently began walking out.

"O hello!!!" Arnav called her... "For your kind information, the pen you are holding in your hand is mine!!!"

Khushi realized that she had forgot to return the pen. She returned it, took the papers with her and left the cabin.

Khushi returned the papers to Mansi. Shyam was waiting there. "Done?" he asked.

Khushi forced a smile and nodded in "yes".

"See, there was nothing to worry!" said Shyam, "you were being nervous for no reason!"

Khushi just smiled. Only she knew what it was to deal with Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada!!

Just then, Aman arrived. Khushi and Shyam wished him "Good Morning". He smiled and wished back.

As he registered his arrival at the reception, he said "Before time on the first day, haan! Hmmm... that's a good sign!"

Khushi and Shyam were very glad to receive the appreciation. They thanked Aman.

"Both of you come to my cabin after about five minutes. I will give you an idea about your six-month training."

Both of them nodded as Aman left for his cabin.

Later Aman explained Khushi and Shyam, the training process and the schedule. Both were to assist in different event-projects. He told that they would get to learn many new ideas and techniques applied in the practical world. Both would be assessed regularly, based on their performance and ability to grasp new things, over these six months.

"Come, I will introduce you both to your respective event heads." said Aman as he walked out of his cabin. Khushi and Shyam followed. They came into the lobby at the reception.

"Have Vivek and Shikha come yet?" Aman asked Mansi.

"Vivek Sir is here, but Shikha Ma'am hasn't arrived yet" replied Mansi.

"Okay..." said Aman. "Khushi you wait here. I will take Shyam to his team and be back."

"Okay Sir!" Khushi nodded.

Khushi was waiting at the lobby for Aman to return. She saw a beautiful young lady hurry in. The lady went straight to the reception and registered her arrival. As she was about to leave, Mansi called her.

"Shikha Ma'am, Aman Sir was looking for you...!" told Mansi.

"So this is Shikha Ma'am under whom I would probably be working." thought Khushi.

"Oh thanks for informing Mansi!" said Shikha, "I will meet him right away."

Saying so, Shikha left.

After a few minutes, Aman came and took Khushi with him. They entered a room, some sort of a conference room. Khushi saw many people there, discussing over something.

"Excuse me guys!!" Aman interrupted their discussion.

Everyone was glad to see him. They all wished him "Good Morning".

"Well this Morning is indeed a Good one," said he, "as today a new member will be joining you all for the event!"

He gestured at Khushi to come forward.

"This is, the very talented, Miss Khushi Kumari Gupta!!" introduced Aman.

Khushi felt a little nervous, everyone was staring at her. She smiled, "Hello everyone!"

Everyone gave her a warm welcome.

"Khushi, this is your event head..."

"Shikha Ma'am!" interrupted Khushi.

Aman and Shikha were surprised. How does she know that?

"Actually, I was at the lobby when Shikha Ma'am arrived...!" explained Khushi.

"Impressive!!" replied Shikha. Aman smiled.

"Okay, so everyone, do take good care of Khushi" said Aman as he winked at Khushi. "I don't want any complaints, alright?"

Everyone smiled.

"And don't forget about the seminar we have today on our new project!!" reminded Aman before he left.

Shikha introduced all the team members to Khushi. Everyone was very co-operative and Khushi became comfortable soon. She was very excited to work on the event.

Arnav and Aman, while taking a round, visiting all the teams to supervise their progress. They heard Khushi suggesting her ideas about the event. Shikha and the team listened curiously. Aman was happy that he wasn't wrong in selecting Khushi. But Arnav was not.

"Miss Khushi Kumari Gupta, you are not here to force your ideas on others. Don't forget, all these are experienced people!" stated Arnav.

"I know Sir," said Khushi politely, "I was just..."

"Enough!!" roared Arnav. No one dared to speak in front of an angry Arnav. No one, except Aman.

"C'mon Arnav, new people need this kind of exposure...!" said Aman.

"And Sir, her ideas are not bad..!" Shikha dared to speak.

Looking at the support she was getting, Khushi gained some confidence to speak in her defence...

"Sir," said she firmly, "I will surely prove that I was rightly chosen to work for this company...!!"

Aman appreciated her reply.

"We'll see!!!" challenged Arnav as he left the place in anger.

Later, everyone went to the huge auditorium to attend the seminar. All the members from all the departments were present at the introduction of the new project. Arnav was to address everyone.

Khushi tried looking for Anjali and Shyam, but couldn't find them in the crowd. She sat with her event-team.

The seminar began with Arnav introducing the new event. The event was for the celebration of the 10th anniversary of an orphanage named 'Mamta'. There was a month left for them to plan and organize the event. The photographs of the place were displayed. And other details were explained by Arnav.

"So Ladies and Gentlemen, this is going to be a very exciting project!! And I have decided that this project will be led by Miss Khushi Kumari Gupta." announced Arnav.

"What? Me???!!!" Khushi's eyes almost came out.

Aman was surprised too. In fact everyone was surprised.

Khushi was shocked. She was very nervous as everyone congratulated her for being selected as the event head. She just couldn't understand what was happening.

After the seminar and the Q and A session were over, Arnav walked up to Khushi...

"Bohot naaz hai na tumhein khud par... Let's see how you handle this!!!"

Khushi just kept staring at his back, as Arnav walked away.

Aman saw Khushi nervous.

"Khushi, don't worry, I will talk to Arnav..." consoled Aman.

Khushi nodded. But somewhere in her heart she knew that Arnav wouldn't change his decision.

"Laad Governor!!" she thought. "Hey Devi Maiyya, please be with me!!"
