I WANT A GIRL

Khushi came out having a bath. She saw Arnav was still sleeping. "Aaj ghar mein pooja hai, aur Arnav ji ghode bech ke so rahe hain...!!" said Khushi looking at Arnav. There is pooja at home today, and Arnav ji is still sleeping!! She went towards him. He was sleeping peacefully.
Khushi sat beside him on the bed weaving her fingers through his hair. She didn't wish to disturb his sleep. But she had to wake him up for the pooja. "Arnav ji...?" she said gently. Arnav didn't respond. "Arnav ji..!" she said again, shaking him. He just changed his side and slept again holding Khushi's hand. "Arnav ji... wake up now.. Chaliye uthiye ab... Don't you know we have pooja at home today?" she said shaking him till he woke up. He opened his eyes to see his beautiful wife in front of him. "Good morning!!" said Khushi, smiling.
Arnav was lost into her. He wished every morning were so good...!! He wished every morning he would open his eyes to see his dear wife. Her beautiful eyes, her glowing cheeks, her rosy lips curved into a smile, her wet hair falling on her shoulders, a couple of strands of hair brushing her cheeks... everything was so perfect..! He suddenly realized that Khushi was saying something. "... and don't sleep again, okay?!! Get up and get ready fast...!! I have to go help Nani ji and Di" said Khushi and turned to leave.
Arnav, who was holding her hand, pulled her back. She fell on the bed beside him. Arnav sat up looking at Khushi naughtily.
"Don't look at me like that Arnav ji..." said Khushi looking away shyly.
He pulled her closer. "Why...?" he asked in a husky voice.
"Arnav ji, please..." she said in a shaky voice, "please let me go... I have to go help Nani ji and Di"
But Arnav pulled her closer, so close that they could feel each other's breath across their face. Khushi gasped closing her eyes as Arnav placed a gentle kiss on her neck. She clutched his shirt tightly. "Let me go..." she whispered, "Today..." and she gasped again as Arnav placed a kiss on her cheek, "we have" and she paused again trembling as Arnav kissed her chin, "pooja" she completed in a shaky voice. She was still closing her eyes. She could feel Arnav's warm breath on her ear. She clutched his shirt tighter.
"I know..." he whispered in her ear. "I believe in worshiping you..." he whispered with a naughty smile.
Khushi was breathless. She couldn't bear this torture any more. She just hugged Arnav tightly. Arnav smiled and hugged her back. Her cheeks were all red with blush. "Arnav ji, let me go now..." she said, still in his embrace.
"Okay... but we need to spend some 'quality' time together..." he said naughtily, "only then some day we will be able to give 'good news' to everyone... right?!" he said teasing her. She couldn't stop blushing. "Right?!!" he repeated waiting for her reply.
"Arnav ji...!!" she said shyly as she moved away.
Arnav was enjoying teasing her. "And then we will have TEN kids!!" he said proudly.
"TEN?!!" Khushi eyes almost popped out. "Are you planning for a cricket team?!!" she asked.
"Cricket team requires eleven members in the team, silly girl!!" said Arnav.
"Haan haan, humein pata hai! I know that very well...!!" said Khushi making face, "Yeh hai na team ka captain..." she said pointing at Arnav, "MR. ARNAV SINGH RAIZADA...!!" Arnav laughed as Khushi looked angrily at him making faces. "TEN is too much!! Thoda kum karo... Dus bachche paide karte karte meri kya haalat ho jaayegi...!!" she said imagining her condition. "No no... Reduce the number...!!" she said in scare.
"Okay... EIGHT?!" said Arnav winking.
"What?! No way!!" said Khushi. She knew he was teasing her and she played along.
"Okay FIVE!! Five is a good number...!!" said Arnav.
"No Arnav ji... Imagine how difficult it would be to accommodate everyone in our car while going on a family outing...!! Aur kum karo...!!" said Khushi.
"Aur kum...?!!" said Arnav making a sad face. "TWO?!!" he said, "Now don't say no...!! Two is perfect!! Hum do humaare do!!" he said winking.
Khushi smiled and said, "ONE! Just ONE!! One, but the best!!" Arnav looked away pretending to disagree. Khushi cupped his face in her palms and turned it towards her. "I am serious Arnav ji... We will have one child and we will give all the happiness to him...!" she said.
Arnav smiled. "Okay...!" he said, "how can I deny my beautiful wife...!!" Khushi blushed. "But 'him'? It can be a 'she' too...!!" he said.
"Yeah... I mean whoever it is...!" said Khushi.
"I want a girl...!!" said Arnav. Khushi was glad to hear that. She was glad that Arnav was not like those who wanted a heir to look after all their business and property and to take forward their name. Khushi looked at Arnav and smiled. Arnav said, "People say that girls are usually like their father... So our girl will be just like me!!" Khushi was shocked already but there was more to come. Arnav further said, "She will be good looking like me, smart and intelligent!! She would have clever brains like me and not the pea sized brain like yours!!" he said teasing Khushi.
"Haaww!!" said Khushi as her jaw dropped.
"She would love and respect her father..."
Khushi cut in saying, "And her mother? What about me?!"
"Who knows?" said Arnav and got out of the bed to get ready for the pooja trying to hide his mischievous smile.
Khushi looked at Arnav who was getting his towel from the cupboard. "Aap toh hum se pyaar hi nahi karte!! You don't love me!" she said in a complaining tone.
"What the!" Arnav froze for a moment. This statement of hers always irked him. He walked to her and gripped her arms tightly. "Don't you dare say that again!! How dare you doubt my love for you!" He pushed her back and went towards the bathroom.
Khushi knew he didn't want to talk to her any more. She looked at him sadly and turned to leave. Arnav felt sorry for yelling at her. He quickly went behind her. "Khushi.." he called her and she turned gladly.
"I am sorry..." "Humein maaf kar deejiye..." both said at once simultaneously. Both smiled at it.
Arnav cupped Khushi's face and said, "Do you know why I want a girl?" Khushi looked into his eyes. He continued, "Because, I have heard that girls are more loving and caring!!" He smiled. Khushi just looked at him in surprise. "And most important... I want a girl because, when she grows up, she will change the life of a man, just like you changed mine, and make it beautiful...!! She will bring the man out from all his sorrows and worries, and make him believe that Life is very beautiful...! She will make the man believe that there is nothing more important and beautiful in the world than love and trust...!! She will be with him always even if he hurts her...!! Because she will understand him and know that he loves her so much..." Arnav's voice was wet and so were his eyes.
A tear escaped Khushi's eye as she said, "And she will always love him... forever...!!" Saying so, she hugged Arnav who held her tight.
"I love you Khushi.." said Arnav.
"I love you too..." whispered Khushi.
Just then Di called out to Khushi. Khushi pushed Arnav back and started walking away. Arnav pulled her from behind.
"Arnav ji! What are you doing?!" said Khushi.
"One kiss..." said Arnav bringing her closer. Khushi was nodding in 'no'. "Just one..." he whispered. Khushi closed her eyes.
But before Arnav could kiss her, Di called out to Khushi again. Khushi opened her eyes at once, pushed Arnav back and hurried away. She stopped after a few steps and turned behind to see a disappointed Arnav standing there. She went back to him, quickly kissed his cheek and ran away blushing. Arnav smiled looking at her back as she went away. He brushed his fingers over his cheek and kissed them. "Let the pooja get over... then you will have no excuse...!!" he said with a naughty smile.
