Chapter 19

Project was progressing well.

One evening, as Khushi was chatting with Anjali and Shyam at the parking, Khushi's phone began ringing. It was Arnav.

"Arnav Sir?!!" Khushi was surprised to see his name flashing on the screen. "But Arnav Sir has already left the office... then why is he calling now?!" thought Khushi.

Khushi accepted the call.

"Yes Sir?"

"Khushi, are you still in office?" asked Arnav.

"Yes Sir, just leaving..." replied Khushi.

"Okay good!" said Arnav. "Listen, our US client, Mr. Mark, wishes to have a meeting tonight. We would be having a video conference. I want you to come my home immediately with all the details and reports" told Arnav.

"Right Sir! I will be there in half an hour!!" said Khushi and the call ended.

Anjali and Shyam left. Khushi quickly went in to get the required files. Then she left for the Raizada Mansion.

She reached there in about 25 minutes. She parked her bike outside the gate and hurried in. The watchman stopped her.

"Where do you wish to go ma'am?" asked he.

"I wish to see Arnav Sir..." told Khushi.

"Sorry ma'am, you can't meet him right now. He is busy in an important meeting" told the watchman.

"But he himself has called me!" said Khushi.

"Sorry ma'am, he has ordered me not to let anyone meet him right now..." said the watchman.

"Look, it is necessary for me to meet him... It's regarding the same meeting!!" Khushi tried to explain.

Khushi tried a lot to convince the watchman, but he was not allowing her in. Khushi didn't know what to do now. She thought of calling Arnav.

Arnav looked at the clock. "Abhi tak nahi aayi yeh Khushi...!!" he said. "Where is this girl?!"

He was angry.

As Khushi was about to dial Arnav's number, she received call from Arnav.

"Where the hell are you?" he shouted.

This scared Khushi a little. "Sir I have reached here, but you watchman is not letting me in!!"

"What the! Wait I will come there..." said Arnav and disconnected the call.

Arnav came at the gate and began scolding the watchman. The poor watchman was trying to defend himself. Khushi intervened.

"Sir, iski kya galti hai? Aap hi ne toh kaha tha na ki yeh kisi ko aap se milne na de...! Infact he was following your orders, being loyal to you!!" said Khushi.

Arnav calmed down. "Now on, whenever Khushi comes here, there's no need to stop her... Do you get it?" Arnav said to the watchman.

"Jee sahab...!" said the watchman.

"Come Khushi...!" said Arnav as he went in. Khushi followed.

Payal saw Khushi come in. She smiled at Khushi. Khushi smiled back.

"Come" said Arnav as he climbed up the stairs to go to his room. Khushi followed him.

"Arey waah!! Jis room mein mere siway aur koi ladki ne aaj tak kadam tak nahi rakha tha, uss room mein Arnav Khushi ko khud leke jaa raha hai...!!!! Kya baat hai!!" said Payal, very excited. Arnav doesn't allow any other girl except me in his room... But he himself is taking Khushi there! She went away as Riya called her.

Arnav reached his room. Khushi was just behind him. Arnav suddenly stopped and changed his mind.

"Khushi, why don't you wait in the study? I will come there in a moment" He said. "Hariprakash!!" he called out their servant. "Take Khushi to the study..."

Khushi waited in the study for a couple of minutes before Arnav arrived there. Both discussed about their plan and ideas.

Arnav received a call from Mr. Mark. Khushi came out of the study room as the meeting began. Arnav had told her to wait till the meeting got over. Khushi waited on the couch in the drawing room. Nilima saw her. She went towards Khushi...

"You are Khushi, right?" asked Nilima with a smile.

Khushi stood up... "Jee... Khushi Kumari Gupta..." said Khushi.

"Arey baitho baitho...!!" said Nilima as she too sat on the couch. Please have a seat!

"Kya logi? Chai, coffee... ya sherbat?" asked Nilima. What will you have? Tea, coffee or juice?

Khushi was surprised to see such warmth. She had not expected the rich and famous Raizadas to be such sweet people, especially after knowing Arnav.

"Thank you, but I am fine!" she said, refusing to have anything.

"Arey sharmaane ki koi zaroorat nahi hai..." said Nilima. Don't be shy...

Nilima called Hariprakash and told him to bring two glasses of juice as that would be good in the hot climate.

Nilima chatted with Khushi as they both had juice. She asked Khushi about her education background, about her family. Khushi felt nice talking to Nilima.

Just then the landline began ringing and Nilima excused herself to receive the call.

Khushi was alone. She checked the time. She didn't know how much more time the meeting would take. She just called her mother to inform that she would be late today.

She was waiting for Arnav to come out of the study.

Just then, little Riya came there running with her toy car. She was running throughout the home with her car... "Brrrmmm Brrrmmm..." Riya was enjoying herself.

"Riya!!!! Be careful!!" Payal called out from her room.

Khushi enjoyed watching Riya run around. As Riya saw Khushi, she stopped. Khushi was stranger to her. She just stared at Khushi. Khushi smiled, but Riya just kept looking.

"What is your name?" asked Khushi.

"Riya..." came the reply.

"Wow!! What a lovely name!!" said Khushi and Riya was very happy. Now Riya felt more comfortable.

"See my car!!" said Riya showing her blue car to Khushi.

"Wow!! Is blue your favourite colour?!"

"Yes!! Blue, red and purple!!" told Riya.

And then she ran away with her car... "Brrrmmm Brrrmmm Brrrmmm...!!"

Khushi felt refreshed.

After some time, Arnav came out after the meeting. He was happy.

"Khushi!! He is ready for the partnership!!!" he told Khushi gladly.

Khushi was very happy. "That's a great news Sir!!" she said. "Congratulations!!"

Khushi raised her hand to congratulate him. He immediately shook hands with her. Both were still holding hands, when Payal came there looking for Riya. She saw Arnav and Khushi looking at each hand in hand. Payal smiled.

"Riyaaa!!!" Payal purposely called out loudly so that Arnav and Khushi became aware of her presence.

Both withdrew their hands at once.

"Uhmm...I'll come in a moment..." said Arnav and went to his room.

"Seems like there's some good news...!" Payal said to Khushi.

"Yes!! Mr. Mark has agreed for the joint venture!!" told Khushi, excited.

"Oh great! Congrats!" said Payal.

"Thank you!" said Khushi, smiling.

Payal went away calling out for Riya.

Khushi just stared at her hand and smiled to herself recalling the hand-shake. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of someone weeping. She put down her hand and looked around to see Riya crying. She felt sad and walked towards Riya.

Khushi sat down on her knees, and keeping her hands on Riya's shoulders, said "What happened, Riya? Itni chhoti chhoti pyaari aankhon se itne bade bade aansu kyun nikal rahe hain?!"

"Chachu ne daanta..." replied Riya, still crying. Arnav had yelled at her because she had gone to his room while playing.

"Awww..." said Khushi making a sad face. "Itni pyaari Riya ko daanta chachu ne...!!"

"Humesha mujhe daantte hain...!!" Riya sobbed. He always scolds me!

Khushi hugged Riya. She wiped Riya's eyes.

"Tumhaare Chachu toh Laad Governor hain!!" said Khushi. Your Chachu is Laad Governor!

"Laad Governor?!!" Riya laughed. She was amused with the term "Laad Governor"... It was new to her.

"Chachu never plays video game with me...!" said Riya sadly.

"Awww... Your Chachu has got a lot of tension... That's why he doesn't play with you...!" explained Khushi.

The word 'tension' was new to Riya. She thought it was some kind of disease. She thought seriously for a moment...

"Mutlab, agar mujhe tension ho gaya toh main bhi video game nahi khel paaungi?" she asked, worried. So if I get tension, will I not be able to play video game either?

Khushi laughed. "Don't worry, Riya ko kabhi tension nahi hoga...!!" Riya will never get tension!

Riya was happy to know that.

Just then, Khushi saw Arnav coming. She showed as if she didn't notice him. She looked at Riya and purposefully said in a loud voice...

"Riya, you know why your Chachu doesn't play video game with you?" Arnav listened curiously. "Because, he can't play video games!!" continued Khushi. "He is afraid that he will lose against you!!" she taunted.

"What the!" Arnav felt offended. "Hello!!!" he said, "I play video games very well, samjhi?!!!"

Khushi stood up. "Really?!!" she said. "Maybe... But how would we believe you unless we see it for ourselves?!!" she said. "Right Riya?!"

Khushi and Riya smiled.

"Achha?!! Fine!! Let's see who plays better...!! Abhi pata chal jaayega...!!" said Arnav accepting the challenge and walked in, ready to play.

"Yayy!!" Riya jumped with joy.

Khushi gave Riya a high-five and both walked in behind Arnav.

Payal stood there watching everything. "Arnav is gonna play video game?!! I can't believe this!! Jo hum itne saalon mein nahi kar paaye, woh tum ne ek pal mein kar diya Khushi...!!" she thought. You did it so easily what we couldn't do all these years, Khushi...

Payal was happy.

She followed to see what happened next. There was this fierce competition going on between Arnav on one side and Khushi and Riya on the other.

Later, Anup and Akash, who had gone out for some work, returned. Anup was curious to know what happened in the meeting Arnav had with Mark. Payal told everyone that the meeting was successful. Everyone was very happy.

"Where is Arnav?!" asked Anup, desperate to meet and congratulate him.

"Even I haven't seen him for a long time... and where is Khushi? Did she leave?" asked Nilima.

Payal just smiled. Akash noticed that.

"What happened Payal? Why are you smiling?" he asked.

"See for yourself...!!" said Payal with a mischievous smile. She signalled everyone to follow her. Everyone was confused.

"Payal, atleast tell..." Akash tried to speak but Payal shushed him.

When they reached the room, everyone was shocked and pleasantly surprised to see the scenario.

Arnav, Riya and Khushi were thoroughly enjoying the game. The fierce competition to prove something had by now transformed into game of fun and enjoyment. The three were quarrelling, blaming each other and laughing their hearts out, enjoying the game.

Anup, Nilima, Akash and Payal watched happily.

"Oh I missed Arnav's laughter so much all these years..." said Anup as Nilima's eyes watered with happiness.

Payal and Akash looked at each other and smiled with satisfaction.

They left the place and Payal told them how Arnav's ego compelled him to play. Everyone laughed after knowing it.
