Chapter 7

"Congrats Khushi!!" said Shyam putting his hand ahead to shake Khushi's.

Khushi just stared at the hand silently.

"Tum ne toh pehele hi din baazi maar li yaar" said Anjali, feeling very happy for Khushi.

The frown on Khushi's face left Shyam and Anjali confused.

"What happened, Khushi??" asked Anjali. "Why are you sad? You should be happy yaar!!"

Khushi didn't reply. Anjali and Shyam exchanged glances.

"Come, let's have our lunch first! We can talk about this later!!" suggested Shyam.

The three went to the canteen carrying their lunch boxes along. While eating, Khushi narrated everything that had happened.

"...and that's the reason he appointed me as the event head. I don't know what to do now...!!"

"This is not fair!!" said Anjali. "You have no professional experience... How will you manage all this?"

"What if there is no experience... she has got talent!!" replied Shyam. "THIS is your chance Khushi!! This is the opportunity to prove yourself, don't let it go!!"

Shyam's words were very encouraging. Khushi felt good now. She smiled.

"You are right Shyam, I must show that Laad Governor what I can do!! I WILL accept this challenge!!" said Khushi confidently.

"That's the spirit Khushi!!" said Anjali happily. "And don't you worry!! We are always there to help and support you!"

Shyam nodded in agreement. Khushi felt blessed to have such good friends.

"Thanks Anjali, thanks Shyam!!" said Khushi. "I don't know what I would have done were you both not with me...!!"

By the end of the lunch time, there were three smiling faces parting ways only to meet again by the end of the day.

As Khushi was keeping back her lunch box, a peon came to her...

"Khushi ma'am, Arnav Sir has called you in his cabin...!" informed the peon.

Khushi missed a beat.

She entered Arnav's cabin to see many people already present there.

"So, Miss. Khushi Kumari Gupta... this is your team!!" said Arnav refering to all the people present there.

Khushi looked around. All the people were experienced. Shikha was also there. Khushi felt nervous.

"Show Khushi Madam her new place..!!" ordered Arnav to the peon.

Khushi was lost in her thoughts.

"Khushi Madam!!! Now stop thinking and go!!" said Arnav. "Your team will be there soon!"

"Aayiye Madam!" said the peon as he led Khushi out of the cabin towards the new place.

It was a huge hall with a big round table and chairs in one corner. There was a screen and a projector on the other side. There was a white board with markers and cleaner. There were a couple of soft boards with pins kept by their sides. There were two cupboards, quite large in size. And there were four computers.

"Nice place to work!" thought Khushi as she gazed through the hall.

"Here are all the keys to this place..." said the peon as he handed a bunch of keys to Khushi and went away.

Khushi walked in and placed the bunch of keys on the table. She went ahead to open the cupboards to see what they contained, but realized they were locked. She took the keys and tried them one by one. Finally she could open the cupboards. One of them had a number of books, magazines, files for reference. The other consisted of many blank papers, chart papers, other stationery material required for making models and sketching. Also, there was a file which had all the contacts, right from the flower arrangement, to pandals, to caterers, lights, music... and what not!!

Khushi was impressed with the system and the management. No doubt the company led the market!!

As she waited for the others to come, Khushi thought about the event.

"Everyone is senior to me, by age as well as by experience! How will I manage...? What must they all be thinking about me? Arnav Sir appointed me as the event-head... will everyone take this in the right spirit?"

Numerous thoughts were flooding into Khushi's mind.

"Hey Devi Maiyya, please help me!!" she prayed.

Arnav was discussing with the others in his cabin.

"...so, have you all understood what you all are supposed to do?" asked Arnav. "I hope there won't be any problem and you all will manage this well! Shikha will guide you!!"

Shikha wasn't comfortable with this. She hesitated before she finally spoke...

"Sorry Sir, but don't you think we are being unfair to Khushi...?"

Shikha was taken aback by the angry gaze Arnav threw at her.

"Jo tumse kaha gaya hai, woh karo!! Just do what you are told to...!!" he shouted. "Do you all get it?"

Everyone nodded in "yes" out of fear.

"All the best Miss-Khushi-Kumari-Gupta!!!" thought Arnav as his eyes gleamed.
