Chapter 31

            Kripa suddenly feels this immense pain grow within her, with each step he takes away from her. She stands in place as memories flood her mind, their conversations and moments flash like a vivid dream right before her eyes. "Come on Krips your best friend, obviously I'll be there when you need me!" "Always?" "Always". She smiles remembering how Angad protected her from Prithvi. She is just about to pull back when Angad kisses her greedily, almost as if he has wanted this for a long time. She blushes remembering their first kiss. Suddenly from behind, someone whispers, "Mere bare mein sooch rahi thi?" Kripa gasps and turns to find Angad behind her. Kripa feels nervous remembering how he can make her heart flutter. "We are okay rite?" "Mhmm and now you better not cry again because you know I can't stand tears in your eyes, now come on cheer up Krips". Kripa remembers how easily Angad forgave her after saying so many horrible things that she always regrets, even today. "I'm sure Prem would like to know who your first kiss was" When Angad had said this, Kripa had felt frustrated, but now she couldn't help, but smile thinking how she could have overlooked this. "YOU CAN'T TAKE HIM AWAY FROM ME!! PLEASE I NEED HIM, HE IS MY BEST FRIEND! PLEASE KEEP HIM SAFE! PLEASE MAKE HIM WELL! PLEASE I BEG YOU, I CAN'T LOSE HIM! I JUST CAN'T! IF HE DIES, THEN SO WILL I, I PROMISE YOU!" Kripa herself was shocked that night at the temple that she could have such a strong reaction to Angad being hurt, she didn't know at the time what this was, mistaking it for friendship but was it? "I'm all yours…I mean I'm all ears" She laughs at his little quirks; he could always make her laugh even without intending to. "Of course, he has to be good enough for my Krips, and no one is good enough for you except…" "Except who!!"  "Except me of course!" Kripa recalls this moment thinking how she could have missed this, how could she have let this go unnoticed, perhaps somewhere deep down she believed she wasn't good enough for him. His love has been staring at her in the face and she let it go unseen. "You sure you're not in love with me?" Kripa pauses, as the phrase replays in her mind over and over until she finds her answer. "You two are the cutest couple I have ever seen" "Your lucky to have such a romantic husband" "Kya jodi banayi upar wala ne, sada suhagan raho". She realizes that everyone can see they are meant to be, everyone except her. Angad draws closer to Kripa, looking onto her lips with desire. He moves closer and rubs his lips onto hers for a moment and then finally claims her lips as his. She blushes remembering the passionate look in Angad's eyes. His hands are lightly draped over her body, while her head rests buried in his perfectly sculpted chest, holding onto him rather tightly. She gets shy remembering waking up to find herself wrapped up in the arms of Angad Khanna, she loves being in his embrace, she feels at peace. "It's only for you Krips, only for you…There is something I have been meaning to tell you, something that I have realized, something I want you to know, something I need you to know. Krips, you are really important to me. This past year so much has happened with us. Being away from you made me realize how important you are to me. Krips you are the love of my life, Main tumse pyaar karta hoon, I love you Krips, I love you!" At this point it has dawned on Kripa that this is never meant to be just friendship, it was always love, just disguised as friendship. Kripa wants to shout out loud to Angad, "I LOVE YOU TOO!" but she won't because she has to make it up to him and she knew when she would do it as well. Right now all she wants was to run into those protective arms and hug him, kiss him, LOVE HIM! Oh she wished she could do a little happy dance, but boy would that be awkward with a room full of elite people.

She knows now what Angad meant by when he said, "You know what you are just scared of being vulnerable and losing control" The truth was that she is scared, scared to open herself to him for the taking, scared that he might walk all over her heart, scared to get hurt, but watching Angad express his pain through the song, it is like watching him rip out his soul. It is excruciating pain for the both of them.  Tears ran down her cheek, yet a smile across her lips, she loves Angad Khanna!

             When Kripa finally breaks her train of thoughts, she realizes that Angad has walked over to the bar and again starts drinking. Kripa thinks, "When will he learn." Angad keeps trying to avoid looking at her, glancing here and there. Kripa smiles and makes her way towards Angad to join him.

             Kavya and Anjali join the dance floor as Angad sings the song. Kavya and Anjali both know it is heartbreaking for not only Angad, but Kripa as well. They continue to dance to the soulful lyrics while occasionally glancing at Kripa and Angad. Anjali puts her head on his chest and says, "I can't see bhai like this Kavya, It really hurts… I just know Kripa loves bhai so much, but I don't understand why she rejected him…" Kavya replies in a soothing voice, "Anju don't worry they will sort this out soon, I'm sure! Just by looking at Kripa you can tell she feels guilty and will soon enough realize that this is love, Angad is the love she was looking for all her life" Kavya then wipes her lone tear in her eye away. Anjali looks up at Kavya and says, "Do you think we should do something to help them?" Kavya shakes his head replying, "No Anju, we aren't going to interfere, they have to work this out on their own… AND if my sister becomes too much of a pain and stubborn then we will definitely knock some sense into her!" Anjali giggles, "Ok agreed!" They continue to dance while loving each other's tight embrace and warmth. Anjali soon after replies, "Kavya" Kavya softly replies, "Mhmm" Anjali then explains, "Listen Kavya you know how you would beat up Angad and Neev if they ever hurt your sisters…" Kavya nods not knowing where Anjali was going with this. She continues, "WELL you see if your dim-witted sister and my idiot friend A.K.A Kripa doesn't realize her love, then I will surely strangle her!!!" Kavya replies, "Well then I guess I will have to find a way to torture you for strangling my sister with say….my lips!" Anjali blushes smacking Kavya while dancing as he laughs at her innocence.

             As the song finishes they applaud Angad's great performance and adding the romantic atmosphere for them as well. Soon after Angad leaves towards the bar and Anjali is just about to go and stop him when Kavya pulls Anjali and signals her to look at a very very very lost Kripa, gazing into space. Kavya and Anjali crack up at the sight, knowing she is definitely fighting some inner battles.

            Neev and Prachi stand at one of the tables. They sit next to each other, hand in hand, well secretly, of course, under the table, away from all the aunties' gossip filled hungry eyes. Neev and Prachi sit just listening to Angad's beautiful voice. Prachi would look at Kripa from time to time, seeing her in so much pain. Prachi curses under her breath, "Idiot! Bol kyun nahin deti!!" Neev hears Prachi muttering something so he asks, "Kuch kaha jaan?" Prachi turns Neev's face so he could see Kripa with her tear brimmed eyes. Prachi says, "Why is she so stupid sometimes, dil ki baat nahin samaj ti!" Neev wraps his arm around her in a comforting manner and wipes away the tear in her eye and replies, "Prachi, she will understand when she is ready, and I'm sure it will be soon, don't worry it will be fine! I know Kripa isn't that slow, but you gotta give me props I'm faster" Prachi whips around, "Are you nuts!! It took you three weeks to realize you loved me you idiot!! It has only been a day since Angad told her he loves her!! It took you weeks!!" Neev looks down embarrassed and quietly replies, "Oh yea, but it seemed less!" Prachi says angrily, "YOU JERK! It felt like decades for me and your saying it seemed less" Prachi turns around and lets out a loud, "HMPH!!" Neev slowly touches her shoulder and turns her around, then holds his ears in an apology. Neev keeps repeating in a cute manner, "Sorry jaan!!" Prachi finally caves and places her head on his shoulder, while looking towards Angad and Kripa in sadness.

             As the song finishes, a loud applause is audible to everyone in the room. Neev and Prachi clap enthusiastically, cheering on Angad. Prachi sees the pain in Kripa and Angad's eyes'. They look so depressed. Prachi wants to comfort her sister, aid her in her confusion. Prachi is just about to head towards Kripa and make her see reason when she saw that Kripa is already in deep thought. Prachi knows that Kripa is realizing her love, and Kripa actually is. Neev then starts dragging Prachi with him to Angad.

             Just as Kripa was nearing Angad, as Kavya and Anjali watch Kripa and Angad's every move, as Neev nears Angad himself with Prachi, they all stop dead in their tracks. A loud voice, claiming everyone's attention. Everyone looks towards the stage, in confusion.
