Chapter 42

Tonight is the night of the haldi rasam and the three couples are not be able to see each other today either. The couples are starting to get really restless because of the restriction of meeting their bride or grooms. The boys all of yesterday kept getting caught trying to sneak into the girl's bedroom by the guards and were so kindly escorted to the main gate like criminals just to meet the parents. As soon as the guard would get close enough to the main door, the guys would punch, kick, or smack the guard so hard and take off in the opposite direction running back home. Angad even tried pretending to be Kavya and Prachi to sneak over, though his deep voice and heavy built gave him away. It has only been a day of separation, yet these boys are already impatient. Anytime the boys would question the elders to find the reason for the unnecessary distance they would respond, "Sabar ka phal meetha hota hai" which would only fruastrate them further.

The haldi rasam is to be held at the separate house, which agitates the boys even more. The guys are even more disappointed that they can't see their beauties today as well. The girls have been getting updates from random people about the boys' depressive behavior and laugh about it with others while keeping their own depression hidden deep within their hearts. The upcoming happiness is enough to make them forget their depression and launch them into their enchanting dreams about the fairytale life they will lead with their husbands.

The girls go to their rooms to get ready for the haldi rasam dressing in simple yellow shalwar kameez. Kripa is in her room trying to tie the strings in the back of her kurta, but she can't seem to reach that far up.  She feels a warm breath tracing her back, giving her chills all over her body. She feels lips dragging up her neck as her eyes close in response. If it is a dream she doesn't want to wake up. The moment those lips touched her skin, she knows it can only be her Angad. His lips make their way up to her ear as his hands encase her delicate waist. He whispers while snuggling into her neck, "I missed you Krips!" As soon as she hears his husky voice, her eyes flutter open and look into the mirror seeing the most perfect sight she has ever witnessed. She leans into him, breathing in his fragerance as she whispers back passionately, "I missed you like crazy! Yeh doorie ab bardaasht nahin hoti!" Angad brushes his lips over her neck murmuring, "I love you" Kripa turns to face him and while brushing her lips across his mumbling, "I love you too!" She flings herself into his arms taking his lips with passion and hunger. Angad falls on the bed with Kripa as she continues to express her fervent desires. Angad gets lost in her familiar and arousing touch. Just then Gayatri knocks on the door making Kripa and Angad snap back to reality. Angad panics as Gayatri yells, "Kripa beta tumhe pata hai Angad kahan hai? Naina pooch rahi hai, who mil nahin raha unhe!" Kripa nervously yells, "No mama Angad yahan nahin hain… I mean muhje nahin pata Angad kahan hai!!" Angad laughs when Gayatri leaves and then stares into Kripa's eyes amused saying, "So you started lying to your own mom for me huh? Very bad Kripa!" Kripa looks at him angrily, "YOU IDIOT! Tumhare liya jhoot bola aur tum muhje…wait abhi batati hoon mama ko! MAMA…….." Angad kissed Kripa midway and then dashes out the window yelling, "Miss Me!!" Kripa blushes a deep shade of red. Angad leaves thinking about what a nice guy the security guy is…and nice is defined as easily bought. This idea of bribing the security comes in handy to two other deperate loverboys.

Kavya enters Anjali's room to see her about to leave her room. Kavya quickly pulls her back, locking the door in the process. Anjali is trapped between his hands. Kavya looks at her naughtily and sees she has already changed into her yellow clothes. He sees how deep the neckline is and whispers, "Anju I won't be at the rasam so who are you wearing these clothes for?" Anjali frowns replying, "My boyfriend!" Kavya rolls his eyes, "Like I said I won't be there" Anjali pats his cheeks replying, "I meant my second boyfriend, You know the one I am cheating on you with!" Kavya starts to frown, "Anju stop messing with me!!" Anjali pushes him with attitude and walks away replying, "Tum baat hi aise karte ho!!! (mimicks his voice) who are you wearing these clothes for? Your such a duffer!!" Kavya grins, "Wow so much anger!!" Anjali sobs silently, which causes Kavya to worry and he asks, "Anju what's wrong? Did I do something…" Anjali shakes her head no, but with teary eyes Anjali looks at Kavya and runs into his arms whispering, "I missed you so much!!" She starts hitting him, complaining he should have come sooner. Kavya just kisses her forhead saying, "Sorry jaan!" After sharing a few passionate moments Kavya exits through the window, but not before screaming, "YOU LOOK HOT ANJU!!!" Anjali blushes at Kavya's comment and smacks her forehead while leaving for downstairs.

When Neev enters Prachi's room he finds her sitting her her bed in her yellow clothes just staring off into space. Neev comes in front of her and all she does is smile. Neev looks at her shocked thinking, "After all I did to get into her bedroom all she does is smile at me!!! I didn't come here to get a smile!" Neev rapidly starts waving his hand in front of her eyes trying to snap her out of her daydream, but it doesn't work. Suddenly he gets naughty idea. He goes close to Prachi's face and she closes her eyes as he inches nearer. Neev stares at her closed eyes and her inviting lips. He brushes his lips on top of hers, which arouses panic within Prachi since she assumed he is an illusion. Her eyes burst open and she launches her arms around his neck causing Neev to fall on top of her. Neev's hand gets stuck under Prachi, which prevents him from getting off her and surprisingly Prachi makes no attempt to free him as well. Prachi just pulls him into a hug and then lay on the bed in each other's arms trying to recall how horrible the one day of separation was for both of them. Surya eventually comes to call Prachi downstairs and Neev kisses her forehead saying, "I will miss you jaan!" Prachi nods in agreement and makes her way downstair, now feeling complete like the glow that was missing from her face has finally returned.

When everyone arrives for the ceremony at both households, they start the rasams. It isn't a big formal ceremony; they just invited some close family friends of both the Sharma's and Khanna's to their separate houses. In the Sharma Household, Josh and Aaliya attend, while Mukti and Prem attend at the Khanna Household. Kavya, Kripa and Prachi are seated on the stage with an assortment of sweets next to them. Poor Kavya can barely wait to eat all those sweets and with great self control he is able to stop himself from devouring the whole tray. As soon as the Khanna's sent over the haldi to the Sharma's, Gayatri began applying it on Kavya, Kripa, and Prachi. Then the rest of the ladies procede by smearing the haldi all over their faces, arms, legs, and anything else that is visible. Kavya does not like the weird smell of the haldi paste and keeps making funny faces as others continue to apply it on him. Josh came up to Kavya and rubbed it all over his mouth, making it go inside as well. Kavya starts to gag as everyone else laughs, finding it rather amusing.  Kavya just sits there trying to put on a brave face, plotting revenge in his mind to get Josh later. When some more aunties came on stage Kavya sighs out loud knowing exactly what is to come next. Kavya expresses his disgust to his two sisters as an auntie makes her way to the stage and offers Kripa and Prachi a gift, then turns to Kavya, "Kaash tum meri umar ke hote! Mein tum se shaadi kar leti! Main toh ab bhi jawaan hoon" Kavya fake smiles in agreement and the lady continues to rub the haldi all over his face, not to mention pinching his cheeks in the process. Kavya seriously wants to knock this woman out! She leaves after Kavya gives helpless looks to Gayatri, while Kripa, Prachi, Josh and Aaliya just laugh at the poor guy.

At the Khanna House Angad, Anjali, and Neev also sit on stage surrounded by sweets. Every now and then Angad or Neev would inch their hands closer to the plate of sweets, while Anjali or Naina would have to smack their hand away. Mukti comes to Anjali and gave her a heartfelt hug, then smears haldi all over Anjali while her mouth just drops in surprise. Mukti runs away while Anjali tries to run out her seat but Angad and Neev hold her back and shove her back in the seat. Mukti sticks out her toungue, while Anjali just sits back are not able to do anything with so many people around. That's what seems to be the problem with this rasam, that the bride or groom can't do much, but sit. Prem came to Neev and Angad come behind and shoved haldi in their ear, making Angad and Neev really grossed out and start groaning because they can't wait until the stupid ceremony is over. Soon the crazy ladies come to the stage and some of them give Angad and Neev kisses on their cheeks. What really freaks out Angad and Neev is that the aunties keep trying to pull their shirts off. Angad and Neev start yelling, "AUNTIE STOP IT PLEASE! YEH AAP KYA KARI HAIN? AAP SHAADI SHUDA HAIN AUR AAPKE BACHE BHI HAIN!! MUJHE CHODEIN!!" The ladies continue to tug at their shirts while Neev yells, "AUNTIE PLEASE DON'T RAPE ME!! MERI TO SHAADI BHI NAHIN HUI HAI!!!" Naina then runs over to the boys as they feel relieved saying, "Thank god mom!!Rokein aapne friends ko!" Naina demands, "Angad, Neev aapni shirt utaro!" Neev and Angad gasp, "MOM AAP BHI!!! HUM AAPNE MOOH KAISE DEKHAIN GE PRACHI AUR KRIPA KO!!" Dilip comes over because of the noise and Angad and Neev run to him complaining, "DAD STOP THESE WOMEN!!!" Naina hits her sons' heads and says, "Bewakoof!! We need to put haldi on your body!!" Angad and Neev feel really stupid and reply embarrassed by their outbursts, "OHH…" Anjali, Prem, and Mukti are laughing so hard while pounding the floor and grabbing their stomachs listening to Angad ana Neev trying to defend their honor.

Soon enough this haldi rasam comes to an end, with the mendhi now just a couple days away. The guys now have to wait even longer to see their lady loves again!
