Chapter 44

Chapter 43

             After another long day of separation finally comes the day of the mendhi. Just like last time, all the boys can seem to do is think up romantic scenarios in their head. As there are lesser days remaining until the wedding, the more useless the boys become. The boys are uninterested in everything, mainly because it only seems to remind them of the separation even more. It seems to be excruciating pain for the boys, whereas the girls would spend hours together talking about what it will be like to be married. The girls spend hours at night just thinking about their wedding day, whereas the boys are more interested in the events pertaining to the wedding night.  Now it's time for the mendhi and this time there is even more strict security meaning NO BARGAINING OR BRIBES! That's right, the parents had found out about the boys sneaking into the girls rooms because a certain someone ::cough:: Kavya ::cough:: couldn't keep it to himself, he had to go blabbing it to Josh and Prem on the phone about how he is such a "badass". Well Gayatri overheard and the rest is history.

             Kripa, Anjali, and Prachi decide to wear olive green and brown shalwar kameez for the mendhi. There is heavy embroidery on the kurta and light work on the shalwar and dupatta. Angad, Kavya, and Neev wear brown shalwar kameez so they slightly match with the girls. However matching or no matching it doesn't seem to make a difference since they won't be able to stand next to their beauties anyways. The women are to attend the function at the Sharma House, whereas the men are to attend at the Khanna House. Since it's mostly a celebration for the women, the men are bound to get bored. After Angad and Neev learn that Anjali will be heading over to the Sharma House, they start begging her by requesting, "Anju please give our letters to Kripa and Prachi!! We will do anything!!" Anjali grins devilishly while Angad and Neev frown. Anjali grins, "Anything huh?" Angad and Neev boredly reply, "Stop being so vindictive!" Anjali sees their desperate looks and decides to quit bugging them and replies, "Okay you don't have to act like kids! I will give them your love letters!! KRIPA AND PRACHI LOVERS!" Angad and Neev just frown and watch Anjali leave happily towards the Sharma House with Naina.

             At the Sharma House, it's been decked out like no other. There are lights everywhere, dhol baja off in the corner with the old aunties leading it. There are mendhi designers around all the women. In the center of all the attention are the three brides, who are surrounded by mendhi artists as they decorate their hands and feet. When then mendhi is complete Kripa, Anjali, and Prachi blush as they see their respective groom's name on their palms within the intricate designs. Naina and Gayatri come to their daughters and laugh, "Mujhe to laagta hain mendhi ka rang ghera hoga! Bahut pyaar jo karte hain hamare bache ek dusre se!" The girls blush wondering and hoping the color comes out extremely dark. Soon the ladies start dancing to shaadi songs while the girls blush on stage not being able to move a muscle because of the mendhi on their hands and feet.

             At the Khanna House, the men are all gathered around the television watching some sort of sports program. Angad, Kavya, and Neev groan in boredom thinking how their gorgeous brides are sitting only a door away. Dilip and Surya notice their boys are somewhat lost in their thoughts and guess their boys are thinking about their marriage. Dilip and Surya feel sorry for them as the boys look so depressed and slowly make their way towards them. Surya says, "Angad, Kavya, and Neev, tum log to aise act kare ho jaise yeh shaadhi nahin balke koi maargaya hai! Cheer up!!" The boys flash a fake smile while Dilip and Surya laugh. Dilip whispers to the boys, "Ek idea hain mere paas!" Angad says, "Dad keep your idea to yourself! Mom is going to end up killing us one day because of your ideas!!!" Dilip whispers rolling his eyes, "Arre suno toh! Look do you want to see the girls or not!" The guys are now all ears and nodding like baboons. Surya and Dilip whisper in the boys ears while the guys stand up and yell, "NOOOOOOO!! NEVER!! HELL NO!!!" Dilip and Surya reply, "As you wish!!" and walk off to join their friends. Now Angad, Kavya, and Neev are in some serious thoughts and look at each other awkwardly. Kavya says to Angad and Neev, "Should we?" Angad retorts, "Are you crazy man! What about our image!!" Neev says, "Oh forget our image I just wanna see Prachi!! I'm going upstairs to get ready! You guys figure out what you wanna do!!" Kavya says to Angad, "Chalna Angad! If anything it will just be super hilarious and you know it!!" Angad sighs, "FINE!! I JUST HOPE WE DON'T GET CAUGHT!!" and joins Neev and Kavya heading towards his parents room.

             Ten minutes later, outside the Sharma mansion stand three gorgeous… scratch that three hideous transvestites, yes that's right Angad, Kavya, and Neev dressed up like those men that wear saris and parade around walking like women, not to mention enter random parties to beg for money. If you must know, Angad is wearing a blue sari, Kavya an orange sari, and Neev a pink sari. Oh and they didn't even spare on the eyeliner, their eyes are fully loaded with heavy makeup, their lips are red, their cheeks are pink, which is all a courtesy of Naina's makeup supplies and the jewelry is also credited to Naina's collection. As soon as the door opens, the guys push the security guard aside and strut the woman in them as they walk into the hall wearing heels, moving their butts from side to side. Their acting is so great that no one seems to notice who they are. Naina and Gayatri stop the three men in sari's and ask, "Behen humne aap logon ko nahin bhulaya! Aap log please jao!" Neev smiles widely saying, "Hai Hai!! Shaadi ho rahi hain aur hum na aye" Kavya interrupts, "Aisa toh ho nahin sakta!! Waise auntie you look HOT!" Angad just holds his pallu over his mouth so no one can see his gotee and nods shyly along with Neev and Kavya.

Kripa, Anjali and Prachi don't seem to be fooled by the performance. Kripa whispers, "There are three of them! And they all seem kind of bulky! Daal mein kuch kaala hain!!" Anjali and Prachi look at them curiously and nod, "Mhmm!" Anjali says, "They look kind of familiar…" Kripa, Anjali, and Prachi's eyes grow wide in shock as the sudden realization hits them, "OH MY GOD!!" Everyone in the hall turn their attention to the girls since they screamed so loudly.  The girls blush in embarrassment and apologize for the outburst. Prachi whispers, "Yeh teen yahan kya kare hain?" Anjali says, "Obviously milne aye hain!" Kripa grins, "Let's have some fun of our own!" Anjali and Prachi grin at Kripa as she whispers the plan.

By now their mendhi seems to be completely dry, so Kripa stands up and heads towards the transvestites A.K.A. their future husbands! Kripa says with lots of attitude, "Mom, rehne deh na inko!" Angad grin which soon turns into a frown as Kripa continues, "Toh behenji aap log naach gaana to kijiye!!" Angad, Kavya, and Neev's eyes grow wide in shock as Anjali adds, "Of course! You all have to dance and sing for us!!" Kavya chirps in a high pitched voice, "Nahin hum yuhin teek hain!!" Prachi touches Neev's arm saying, "I insist!! Please…." Neev shivers with delight and seems to cave seeing Prachi's puppy dog eyes, and just like a love sick puppy Neev responds, "Okay!!" Angad and Kavya yell, "No, no she is kidding! We don't dance!" Kripa and Anjali laugh at the boys replying, "That's okay! Humein dua toh deh sakte hain na! Yahan aiye na!" Angad, Kavya, and Neev grin as they make their way towards the girls, while Naina and Gayatri seem a little confused and curious on the whole matter. Angad whispers to Kripa, "You look DAM* HOT!!" Kripa whispers back seductively looking into his kohled eyes, "And you… you look like a kaam wali!!!" Angad frowns and gets embarrassed remembering that he is wearing a sari. Kavya says to Anjali, "I missed you!!" Anjali says, "You are so desperate!!! You Idiot!!" Kavya replies, "I did it for you!!" Anjali laughs, "I can never look at you the same anymore babe!" Kavya mumbles, "Badmein dekhta hoon!!" Neev to Prachi says, "So did you miss me?" Prachi laughs, "Yea RIGHT!! You look horrible!!" Neev checks himself out and replies, "Sweetie I look better than you right now!! Prachi you can't even carry a sari!!" Prachi gets mad and smacks his arm as he laughs. Naina and Gayatri quickly make their way towards the girls and guys quickly hide their faces in their pallus and sit with the older women.

Kavya and Neev seem to actually look more like women, then Angad does. In fact Kavya and Neev seem to pass as women as well. An auntie sitting next to Kavya asks, "Beti are you married" Kavya coughs and replies in a high pitched voice, "No… No auntie koi mila nahin abhi tak!" The woman replies, "Beti mera beta tumhare liya bilkul perfect hai!! Tum batao tumhari mummi kahan hai, mein unse baat karti hoon shaadi ke liye!" Angad and Neev overhear and laugh at the situation, while the auntie then turns to Neev and says, "Beti tum mere dusre beta ke liye bilkul perfect ho, tumhari mummi kahan hain, main unse bhi baat karleti hoon!!" Neev's smile disappears and starts coughing violently as Angad thumps Neev's back. The auntie then catches sight of Angad and says, "Beti tum waxing kyun nahin karleti! You know sab ladkiyan upper lip waxing karte hain, tumhari mustache ke baal bhi chale jayenge!! Phir mein upne thesre beta se shaadi kardoongi tumhari!!" Angad's smile disappears and he replies in his deep husky voice, "Aap ke kitne larke hain?" The auntie replies proudly, "Teen bete hain mere!! Tum log ke liye perfect hain! Beta tumhari awaaz ko kya hua?" Angad, Kavya, and Neev freeze on spot and are shocked since Naina and Gayatri heard Angad's voice. Angad, Kavya, and Neev curse under their breath as their mothers make their way towards the boys. The boys get up as their mothers approach and Angad counts silently, "3… 2… 1… RUN!!!" Angad, Kavya, and Neev dart towards the door, not worrying about their sari and yell to their brides as they leave, "MISS US!!!!" The girls laugh seeing their lovers running since they women are on their tail holding their shoes in hand. Angad and Neev run out the door, while Kavya trips right by the door as the ladies gather around him to beat him silly with their shoes. Angad and Neev quickly run back and yank at Kavya's arms and drag him out the Sharma House with the women yelling behind with shoes in their hands, "WAPAS MAT ANA!! NAHIN TOH BAHUT MAARENGE TUM LOG KO!!"

The boys laugh all the way to the Khanna House and walk right in forgetting they are wearing saris. All the men in the room turn to look at Angad, Kavya, and Neev walk in. The boys stop at the door as they notice all the men in laughter fits, well mainly pointing in their direction as they fall on the floor. Angad looks at them like they are nuts and turns towards Kavya and Neev to ask what is up with the men. Just as Angad catches sight of what Neev and Kavya are wearing, it all makes sense and all three yell, "OH SHIT!!" The boys run up stairs triping in their sari occasionally. As soon as they are in Dilip and Naina's room they yank the sari off with great force. Angad turns to Kavya and Neev asking, "We are okay now right?" Kavya and Neev move their head left and right vigorously and pull Angad in front of a mirror to see heavy eye shadow, eye liner, red lipstick, and pink blush!! All three dart into the bathroom and wash their face a billion times to get off the great deal of make they had painted on their faces. They throw on their brown shalwar kameez and make their way downstairs after all the men have calmed down from their laughter.

             As the guys go downstairs, the first thing they are asked is by Josh, "So what happened down there?" Angad, Kavya, and Neev announce, "We came, We saw, and CONQUERED!! …THEN WE RAN LIKE HELL AS THE AUNTIES CHASED US OUT!!!" Everyone laughs at their little expedition and the boys join to toast to their mission's success as the guys pat the boys' backs to a job well done! Dilip and Surya grin sheepishly at their children remembering their own similar expedition when they got married.

And so concludes the celebrations of the mendhi. The girls now sit in their rooms admiring their lover's names in their palms as they think about their future with them. The girls suddenly remember their letters from the boys and start reading. Kripa reads,
           
            "My Krips,
                    You have no idea how badly I am missing you! I'm crazy about you! One day without you is one day not worth living! I can't live without you anymore! I hope these days or separation pass quickly because I want to hold you in my arms for eternity!
                                                                                Eternally Yours, Angad"

            Kripa blushes as she read his letter. Anjali lays in her room as she remembers her own letter than Kavya had given to Kripa to pass along to Anjali. Anjali rushes to her purse and pulls out her letter and begins reading,

            "Dear Anju,
                    Babe I'm so not missing you at all! Pfft, nope definitely NOT!! … OH WHO AM I KIDDING!! I love you Anju!! I know you think I'm a moron that I'm writing all this to you, but every second I spend without you seems to make me restless. I'm lost without you! You know I'm not myself without you! I can't wait til we are married and you make me complete forever!
                                                                                Love Always, Kavya"

            Anjali rolls around the bed kissing the letter and falls asleep hugging it. Prachi leaps out of bed as she remembers her letter. She opens it eagerly and reads,

            "My Love Prachi,
                    Jaan I'm so deeply in love with you!! I miss you a great deal! I miss making fun of you and seeing that cute annoyed face you make! Prachi when will we get married! I know you miss me as much as I am missing you! I hope we get to see each other tonight at the mendhi! I can't wait until you become mine forever and then I will leave no chance to annoy you because I know you love having me bother you! Love You!
                                                                                Yours Forever, Neev"

As the girls finish with their letters, there is a deep blush radiating from their cheeks as they think about their loves. The guys lay on their beds laughing at all the stuff that occurred throughout the day. It has been an entertaining day to say the least and they got to see their beauty queens before the wedding day as well. The wedding is now only two days away, so sleeping for these lovebirds is almost impossible.
