Chapter 34

             So the day finally came, the most anticipated day of senior year, PROM of course. This is not just any ordinary dance for Angad and Kripa because this is the day they will put in affect their individual plans, the end results are exact opposites for both. Angad's end result entails drifting Kripa further away from himself or well at least canceling their wedding, while Kripa's would bring them together eternally. Angad is playing the jealousy angle while Kripa decides to use the same technique, only with a big twist to the game itself. Her strategy is towards making Simone jealous rather than Angad. Kripa and Angad have exchanged very few words in the past week, but Angad doesn't stop the smirks from playing upon his lips for a second. He believes his plan is working perfectly, boy is he wrong. Kripa has him all figured out and would occasionally feel pangs of jealousy seeing him with Simone, but after reminding herself it is all a game, she would find herself acting jealous rather than actually being jealous. Kavya of course has been listening to Anjali going crazy over prom preparations and how it has to coordinate perfectly with her own gown. Prachi on the other hand is way less obsessive, but she spends most of the week thinking about how the night will turn out for them, her and Neev that is. So basically Neev is walking around freely, while Kavya looks at him envious throughout the week since Kavya has been dragged with Anjali everywhere like designer stores, make up stores, jewelry stores. Today, Kavya is off the hook since Anjali goes with Kripa and Prachi for hair, make up, manicures, etc. Angad has been walking around, well mopping around since he has always wanted Kripa to be his prom date, but now it happens to be Simone. He isn't too excited about his date with the brainless bimbo, Simone, but he knows it's important in order to stop the engagement that is to occur tomorrow. The parents have been frantically running around between houses with details such as the hall, outfits, food, etc.

             Kavya, Neev, Prem, and Josh come to the Sharma House where all the girls are gathered together to get ready, while the guys got ready at the Khanna House. Kavya is wearing a black tuxedo with a blue vest. Neev wears and white tuxedo and a white shirt. Prem wears a black tuxedo and with a pink vest. Josh wears a black tuxedo and with a gold vest. The guys are now looking towards the staircase waiting for the girls to arrive. Kripa is the first one to walk down the steps, followed by whistles from Kavya, Neev, Prem and Josh. The guys look Kripa up and down noticing her wearing a beautiful maroon gown, that hugs her every curve perfectly and flows loosely at the end, making her look divine. The dress is deeply cut in the back exposing her full back. She leaves her hair down and styled in loose waves. Kripa arrogantly looks at them and replies, "…yeah I know I look DAM* HOT!" The guys laugh at Kripa's attitude. Kavya stops laughing as his eyes fall on the gorgeous beauty dressed in a navy blue gown that has a halter type neck line. She looks like a fantasy to Kavya. Neev laughs at Kavya's expressions since Kavya begins to drool. Neev then also catches sight of his own angel who elegantly descends down the staircase looking like a vision. It is the first time Neev has ever seen Prachi wearing a gown, rather than her usual shalwar kameez or sari's. Neev stares at her from head to toe noticing her wearing a white gown, looking like a true angel, so pure just like a dream. Her dress is something like a halter, yet it is not deeply cut in the back. Prachi shyly walks up to Neev and whispers, "Neev..." Prachi blushes uncontrollably. Finally Mukti too descends down the steps in a light pink gown, with her hair up in an elegant bun. Aaliya wears a golden gown that looks perfectly designed for her and only her. Prem and Josh's reactions are quite similar to those of Kavya and Neev. Kripa smiles at the guys, who are lost in the beauty of their beauties. Kripa took out her camera and took snaps of each couple. The flash seems to blind them and they finally all snap back into reality. Kripa refuses to tag along with Kavya and Neev in their cars because it would ruin their evening. Kripa takes off in her own convertible to prom.

             Angad has already gotten ready in a black tuxedo with a maroon vest. It seems that even when Angad and Kripa aren't together they still tend to think alike. Angad now goes to get Simone from her house. He rings the doorbell and out comes Simone, looking like she has pounds of makeup plastered on face. She looks so fake. She is wearing a short black dress, which is quite revealing. Angad forces a smile and remembers why he is going with Simone, to finish off his plan! Angad seats Simone in the car like a gentleman and gets in himself, taking off to his destination with full intentions to make Kripa back out of the marriage.

             Kavya, Anjali, Neev, Prachi, Prem, Mukti, Josh, and Aaliya are already present at the hall, sharing a few drinks and engage in a light conversation, while they wait for Angad and Kripa to arrive… not so much Simone. Angad finally makes his entrance looking gorgeous along with his drag queen of a date, Simone. Although, some cheap guys' mouths drop looking at Simone's skimpy attire. The two make their way to the rest of the gang and start talking. Well finally, the beauty queen herself enters the room, none other than Kripa. Angad senses her presence. He turns around and finds Kripa looking stunning in her silky maroon dress, which naturally matches Angad. After all great minds think alike! Angad mouth slowly drops at the sight of Kripa, with the wind blowing through her hair, she looks magnificent. Kripa notices Angad amidst the crowd and looking at his state of admiration, devilishly grins inside. Simone notices Angad's stare and isn't too happy about her date gawking at another girl. Kripa hides her smile looking down and walks in an elegant, yet confident manner towards the gang. Kripa strikes up a conversation with the girls, Kripa would occasionally glance at Angad to see him cozying up to SImone. Now both Angad and Kripa know he only did this to make Kripa jealous, enraged, perhaps push her over the edge. Only, Kripa refuses to accept defeat! Angad would side glance at Kripa to see if his little flirting method is evoking anger within her, but Kripa keeps her feelings hidden with great difficultly.

             Angad drinks a bit of alcohol to calm his nerves and then loudly asks Simone, "Sweetheart, lets go dance?" Kripa rolls her eyes and yet can't help, but feel jealous looking at Angad touching Simone. As soon as Angad and Simone leave, Kripa drinks a little to sort out her anger issues at this point. She couldn't be angry at Angad for her own plan to work. Just then Kavya asks Anjali for a dance, followed by Neev, Prem, and Josh asking their respective lovers for dances as well. While leaving for the dance floor the girls give Kripa the nod, which in turn gives Kripa some extra confidence. Her frown, turns upside down into a huge grin as she notices the disc jockey changing discs. Kripa confidently makes her way towards the DJ and whispers something in his ear. He then gives her thumbs up, while Kripa's grin continues to grow wider.

             Angad has been grinding on the dance floor with Simone for quite a while, it is basically to enrage Kripa further, however, he can't exactly spot her anywhere. If there is no audience, why put on the show, right? Soon Angad starts looking around for Kripa, darting his eyes in all directions, but no luck. Simone notices Angad looking around and she is pretty sure he is in search of Kripa. Simone grabs his face and turns it towards her, to keep his attention on her than have him looking for Kripa. Angad is getting bored of Simone already because this girl just keeps on talking about herself, she is so conceded. He has to repeatedly remind himself why on earth he is going through his torture, but that is an easy answer! To get Kripa to stop the engagement, which is to take place TOMORROW! He just has to get her jealous enough to get disgusted and super angry at him as well. In order to do all that he has to find Kripa first because without her there is no point in dancing with Simone.

             Angad's thoughts are broken by the lights turning out. Everyone stops dancing and then a spotlight hits center stage, where a gorgeous girl stands in a maroon dress revealing her back towards the audience. Angad thought that maroon dress looks somewhat like Kripa's dress, but he dismisses this thought thinking Kripa doesn't like to sing in front of people... wait forget in front of people, Kripa doesn't like to sing period…or so he thinks. He can't deny the girl's beauty as he gazes at her well defined curves. She is a vision of perfection, yet some what familiar. Angad's thoughts are once again broken by the sound of music to the song, Yeh Mera Dil from Don- the Chase Begins. (click the name of the song to listen to it!)
