SPOILER ALERT.

I know this post is about 3 years late but i just saw the movie and i dont believe i was missing out on this beautiful tale of unrequited love.

Raanjhana was everything that makes a powerful story

- Round characters
- Socio politically and culturally relevant setting
- strong side characters

Raanjhana is beautiful.

Usi ko paana .. usi ko choona ..
Kahin pe wo na .. Kahin pe tu na ..

Three people who ruined thier lives behind love .. Jasjit, Zoya & Kundan - A Sikh , a muslim and a hindu.

They were different, they weren't suppose to cross each other's paths but love binds them in a string .. a string that begins with passion, lands on favour, gets torn by jealousy and starts binding itself again with forgiveness and ends a full circle with revenge.

We have seen numerous lovers who die waiting for the loves of thier lives .. and amongst all of them .. Kundan will be the closest to my heart. That boy had the power to manage a smile on his face .. while he was torn inside.

Coming to performances - All three of them just shined, infact every side character, every single person in the frame was MARVELLOUS, including all on and off screen people.

This movie has numerous beautiful scenes.

  • The scene in the village where Zoya imagines Jasjit walking towards her, when its Kundan in reality.
  • The Jasjit - Zoya marriage scene where Kundan recites half kalma and asks Jasjit to complete it and turns to Zoya .. tumhare pyaar main itna tu maine seekh liya .. isi kuch tu sikha k laati ..
  • Kundan - Jasjit confrontation in the hospital.
  • The scene where Zoya spits on Kundan
  • The scene where Zoya realises that Kundan knew about the rally plan.
  • The last shot of grown up and the child Kundan .

This movie was an experience. An experience of love. As Harneet Singh says .. its not a love story if it doesnt breaks your heart.

For me, the most beautiful part of Raajhaana is loyalty .. Zoya, Kundan and Jasjit, three of them remain loyal to the love of their life till their last breath. They didn't care if it made them mad, made them lose everything they had, made them a murderer, got them killed .. NOTHING ..

They remained loyal. Jasjit to Zoya .. Zoya to Jasjit .. and Kundan to Zoya ..
Mar gaye .. Maar diya .. lekin bewaafayi nahi ki ..

I absolutely loved this movie.

Love, the real love, the passionate soul stirring love knows no logic. You feel what you feel and it's unfathomable how the other person doesn't.The movie had this portrayed so so well. Perhaps after Darr, th eonnly time you root for the crazy guy in love - Raanjhana.

Love Dhanush in the movie.Even liked Sonam.

Gosh, I really loved this movie.

For me it was the relationship dynamics, rather than the love story itself which I found fascinating.

I hate it when people dismiss it as yet another stalker film 🤔... Yes, sure there were elements of stalking in it, but there was so much more to the film than just that.

And I loved Zoya's character so much... People think she was a b*tch. She was manipulative for sure. But she also had a vulnerability and innocence about her which the film portrayed beautifully.

I am not that good with words but here is a review which IMO perfectly encapsulates the essence of the film. Have a read, I think you will like it:

It's a well made movie with all the actors getting under the skin of their characters. I watched TWM for Anand Rai. His characters are so real and if you've lived in UP then you have met them. I don't agree with the constant criticism about glorifying stalking in this movie. It's Sonam's best till date. I started noticing this amazing actor Zeeshan Ayub after this movie. Dhanush deserved every award that year.

This movie was nice watch, Dhanush seriously escalated the movie to another level though, what a brilliant actor. Despite his looks not even remotely like a traditional actor, he glued me to the screen more than the pretty faces.

It is funny because I remember it so differently than how most people above have described it.

Maybe I should try re-watching as I never did finish the movie because the overzealous wrist-slitting and the emotionally abusive antics of various characters got tiring fast.

Second half with all those political agitations etc were too unrealistic. Other than that it was very good.
