FF(2): Breakthrough - PART 24 - PAGE 8

Thank you all for being patient with me...Oh, who am I kidding. This was well beyond 'being patient'. You all waited months for this. I apologize for the super long wait. But it was when I lost interest in the show, around Sultan's track, that I lost interest in my own FF because I just couldn't write around that time. I then forgot what my FF was about. I didn't get the time to read it, but I sort of skimmed it and I hope it still all makes sense with what I have planned now. I'm just writing off of the few points I had written for myself in the document. Anyways, sorry once again and enjoy!

Chapter Twenty-One - Change of Plans

I unpacked my belongings and got comfortable in the new room I had been given on the main floor. I took out a picture from my wallet of my Midhi and I from when we were younger. I stared at it for a moment. I stared at her. I knew if I were to do anything to her father, she would be heartbroken. So I had two options. I could either make it seem as though I were betraying her too, so she hates me and moves on...or I could just get my revenge from her father and hope for the best in terms of her reaction. She had never let me down before, so I didn't believe she would let me down again. I kept my eyes on the picture when suddenly I heard a knock at my door. I looked up to see Madhu standing there.

"What are you up to superstar?"

She smiled as I raised an eyebrow.

"From homeless man to superstar?"

She walked towards me and sat on the bed beside me. She locked her arm with mine and rested her head on my shoulder.

"You're my superstar."

I couldn't help but let a smile cross my face. I turned my head to stare down at her. I was just about to kiss her head when I was reminded of what I had planned to do. The last thing I wanted to do was get closer to the girl whose heart I could possibly be breaking in the near future. I slowly pulled away. She lifted her head to look up at me as I stared down at the picture in my hands. I noticed her head move and her eyes fall onto the picture as well. Her fingers brushed against mine as she slowly grabbed the picture out of my hands.

"I miss this..."

I looked down at her as she spoke in a soft voice.

"I miss when we didn't have a care in the world...life was so perfect. I wish I never lost you...I wish we never got separated...I w..."

"Shhh...Madhu, I'm here now, aren't I?"

She glanced up at me slowly and I placed my hand on the side of her face. I caressed her face while smiling as genuinely as I could. She smiled a beautiful smile in response and began to close in on me. I watched her close her eyes slowly. It took everything I had not to answer her with a kiss...but I couldn't. I couldn't do that to her. I felt her breath brush against my skin and I instantly turned my head. I faked a cough and got up off the bed. I kept my back towards her as silence filled the air.

"S...sorry, I think I'm coming down with a minor cold."

"Cold? Do you need anything?!"

I felt her hand on top of my shoulder, so I turned to face her. I placed my face on the side of her face again and smiled down at her.

"I'm alright. How about you go get some rest now. It's been a long day."

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"I'm sure Madhu. You go ahead and get some sleep. I'll be okay by the morning."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

Before I could even take a step back, she rose onto her tiptoes and planted a kiss on my cheek. I watched as she ran out of my room and slowly closed my door behind herself, after flashing a smile in my direction.

It was in that moment that I re-contemplated everything I had planned. It was in that moment that I decided not to go through with what I had originally wanted to do. It was in that moment that I decided to find some evidence against her father before I went through with anything.

I waited until it was past midnight, lying on my bed, staring at the clock. Then I very slowly headed towards my door. I opened it, making sure not to let it creak, and I began to tiptoe out into the hall to proceed in finding some sort of evidence against him.
