Chapter Four – Bathroom Bump-In

I heard a loud ringing in my ears. I turned over onto my stomach and covered my head with my pillow. I had finally gotten a good night's sleep and was in no mood of having it disturbed. I tossed and turned after it wouldn't turn off. I sat up and looked around the room for a clock but there was none.

"SHUT UP!"

I rubbed at my eyes and noticed I was in a bright white room. I had forgotten that Madhu had taken me in.

"YOU SHUT UP!"

I heard her voice over the ringing and realized she was yelling at me from her room.

No sound proof walls? Shocker. I remember thinking to myself.

I looked up at the ceiling and noticed a speaker. It was obvious the noise was coming from there. I found it quite odd that the entire family woke up at the same time, to the same damn annoying alarm every morning. I tried to lay back down but the ringing didn't stop. Then I heard my door open. The instant my door opened, the ringing stopped. I looked towards the door and saw Madhu standing there, looking super tired, in her short pink nightdress. I found her quite hypocritical because she didn't like to see me shirtless but then walked into my room while wearing a short pink nightdress.

"Movement of the door turns off the alarm for future reference. Anyways, wake up stupid. It's 8am, shooting starts in one hour and the drive…well you know how long that is."

I instantly sat up as I remembered I had gotten a job. She walked out of my room as I headed to my closet…walk in closet. It was huge but amazing at the same time. Almost as big as my apartment bedroom! I stepped in and grabbed the first pair of jeans and the first t-shirt I could find. I ran out of my room rapidly but then realized that I had no idea where the bathroom was. I stood in the hallway confused when suddenly I heard Trishna's tired voice behind me.

"Straight ahead at the end of the wall."

"You mean hall right?"

"Same diff."

"Uh, thanks!"

I didn't look in her direction and didn't care that she had seen me in only my boxers because she had already made it clear that it was nothing new to her. So I ran directly towards the bathroom in front of me. I knew the drive was at least thirty minutes and I only had twenty minutes left to be completely ready, so I didn't even remember that I had to knock and I wasn't living alone anymore. I barged in and suddenly heard a female shriek, which definitely broke my eardrums. Then before I knew it, I was laying on top of a girl. My eyes were open and I was staring down at Madhu's face. She had her eyes shut tight and her nails were digging into my back as though she were still waiting for impact from hitting the ground. I closed in on her a bit and then whispered.

"You can open your eyes…"

She gasped and her eyes shot open, which caused me to pull away my face. She lowered her eyes to look at something and then instantly looked up at me with a furious look. She let go of my back and then she screamed again causing me to close my eyes and cringe to her loud voice. I covered her mouth with my hand and closed my eyes, waiting for her to stop screaming. As I closed my eyes, I felt her skin against mine…her chest against mine…her legs against mine. That's when I realized she wasn't wearing any clothes. When I opened my eyes, they went wide.

"I'm sorry!"

She pulled my hand off of her mouth.

"GET OFF ME!"

I went to get off her but she stopped me.

"NO WAIT!"

When she stopped me, I couldn't help but lower my eyes slowly towards her bare body. But before I could, her loud voice caught my attention again.

"DON'T MOVE. DON'T LOOK DOWN. CLOSE YOUR EYES."

I listened to her and then she continued.

"Now…GET OFF ME!"

I quickly got off her as I kept my eyes closed.

"Turn around…NOW!"

I turned around and a few seconds passed when she spoke again.

"You can open your eyes."

I opened my eyes and turned to see her in just her towel. She looked me up and down and then shook her head.

"Next time, KNOCK. You know, that thing people do before ENTERING ANOTHER ROOM?"

"Sorry! Jeez, I used to live alone, I forgot…"

"If that happens again…"

"It won't. I promise. We're going to be late if we keep arguing, so if…"

"I wonder how many times you'll have to say that before I believe you. Hmph."

She grunted angrily and then nudged me in the shoulder as she walked by me and out of the bathroom.

It took me approximately ten minutes to get ready. When I exited the bathroom, I saw her standing in front of me while tapping her foot impatiently.

"Foods ready. Now you only have ten minutes to eat and get in the car or I'm leaving without you."

"Alright."

"Come, now."

"Yes ma'am!"

"Call me that again and…"

"I won't!"

She rolled her eyes and ran down the stairs as I followed. She sat down at the table and I decided to take the seat next to her.

"PRIYA!"

"Coming ma'am!"

A woman came running out of a room on the side with a tray full of food. She placed it in front of us and for the first time in years, the food smelled fantastic. It was pancakes and oatmeal. Madhu grabbed herself a pancake and I followed her movement. She ate quickly while I tried to take in the amazing taste of pancakes. Then suddenly she stood while I was only halfway done.

"Now are you coming or do you want to catch a taxi?"

I looked at the pancakes and then towards her. I remembered back to the 20$ in my pocket and sighed. I stood up immediately and followed her out the door while the smell of the pancakes called out my name from behind.
