Abhishek Bachchan explains why Aaradhya stays untouched by online chatter around his marriage

Abhishek Bachchan has spoken about a topic that has followed his family for years: the constant speculation around his marriage with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The conversation resurfaced after waves of online chatter claimed the couple was heading towards a split. Much of it started when their public appearances reduced, and Abhishek stopped sharing glimpses of his home life on Instagram.

The rumours faded earlier this year when Aishwarya walked the Cannes 2025 red carpet wearing sindoor, a moment many saw as a quiet response to the buzz. But the larger question remained about how their daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, processed all this noise.

In a recent interview with Peeping Moon, Abhishek addressed it directly. When asked if Aaradhya was aware of the rumours surrounding her parents, he explained that she is grounded and mature but not exposed to any of it. The decision came from a simple rule at home: Aaradhya, who is 14, does not have a personal phone.

Abhishek put it plainly: “I hope not. She’s a very mature girl. She’s a wonderful girl, and her mother has done a wonderful job. I don’t think she’s aware, but I don’t think that’s part of her priority. She doesn’t have a phone; she’s 14. If her friends want to get in touch with her, they have to call her mother’s phone. That’s something we decided a long time ago.”

He added that while Aaradhya can use the internet for school, she doesn’t spend time searching her parents’ names or reading gossip. Giving credit to Aishwarya for shaping her approach, he shared: “She’s more interested in doing her homework; she loves school. I don’t think she would search our names on Google. She won’t believe anything; her mother has taught her well enough not to believe everything that she reads. Like my parents were with me, we’re completely honest with the family. So there’s never been an occasion where anybody needs to question anyone.”

For context, the rumours spiked in 2024 after Aishwarya arrived separately for a family gathering and did not pose for a joint picture.
