Anupam Kher and Akshay Kumar praise Dhurandhar, hail its storytelling and tribute to 'India’s faceless heroes'

Dhurandhar continues to dominate conversations, not just at the box office but also among Bollywood veterans. Following earlier praise from Deepika Padukone, actors Anupam Kher and Akshay Kumar have expressed admiration for Aditya Dhar’s action-packed drama, applauding its storytelling, cast performances, and depiction of unsung heroes.

Anupam Kher shared a detailed video review after watching the film, calling it a “Bharat ki film” and praising its narrative and characters. On X, he wrote, “BHARAT KI FILM: I watched #Dhurandhar on Monday night and immediately recorded this video… Thank you dearest #AdityaDhar for this ???????, ???????, ?????? and ?????? ??????! This film is also a #TRIUMPH for Indian cinema! A story about UNKNOWN and FACELESS INDIANS who are constantly risking their lives for us! Jai Ho! Jai Hind!"

In the video, Kher highlighted the performances, saying, “The dialogues are amazing… ghayal hu isliye ghatak hu… Ranveer is fantastic. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, everybody… Akshaye Khanna — my God! I immediately called Akshaye after stepping out of the theatre… From India’s perspective, Dhurandhar is a very important film.” He added humorously, “Mata chadh gayi hai kya? Itni kamaal ki film banaayi hai!”

Kher further noted how the film pays tribute to the quiet work of India’s intelligence agencies. “For a hero to play a henchman in a big commercial film, you need huge confidence to do that — and he has that. Bharat ki film lagti hai. There isn’t even jingoism… It’s a film that will make you proud to be Indian,” he said.

Joining in, Akshay Kumar also shared his thoughts on X, calling the film “gripping” and praising Aditya Dhar’s execution. “Watched Dhurandhar and I’m blown away. What a gripping tale and you’ve simply nailed it @AdityaDharFilms… audiences are giving the film all the love it deserves,” he wrote.

Despite its runtime of 3 hours 34 minutes, Dhurandhar has seen a strong box office run, opening at Rs 28.60 crore and crossing Rs 100 crore within its first weekend. The film features Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi, with a sequel already slated for March 19, 2026.
