KESAR
Kesar had been 16 when he fell in love. He knew the moment he laid eyes on her that she was "the one". He had met her for the first time at a cousin's marriage. He was getting bored waiting for the rituals to be finished so that he can go home and play the new video game that his brother had got for him. It was then he heard a laugh,the sweetest, most melodious laugh that he had ever heard. He quickly turned around and there she was standing a few feet away from him talking animatedly to her friends with her hands gesturing wildly and talking nineteen to a dozen. She looked older than him, maybe 18 or 19 but Kesar didn't care. She had been wearing a beautiful baby pink ghagra choli and though there were much prettier girls around,Kesar just couldn't take his eyes off of her. Time had stopped for Kesar and he stood there staring at her with a stupid grin on his face. Then suddenly he saw her run off. Kesar panicked-no he couldn't lose track of her, he needed to know her name, who she was and he really needed to talk to her. So he took off behind her and remained restless until he saw her standing with an older woman. A strange sense of calm overpowered him seeing her standing there with a smile on her face.
Older woman: "Gulaal beta,kahaan reh gayi thi?maine kaha tha na ki mere saath hi rehna.mujhe tumhe kuch logon se milvaana hai.chal abhi".
Gulaal: "woh main apne doston ke saath baatein kar rahi thi.ab main aa gayi hoon na,tho gussa thook do meri pyaari maa,ab chalo jisse chaahe milvaalo" ,and they walk off together.
Kesar stood there for a moment and slowly tries out her name "Gulaal'..Gulaal'..kitna sundar naam hai''Gulaal".
He looked around and realizes that he has lost sight of Gulaal and her mother and grows frantic trying to place her in the sea of strangers. He rushed forward, parting the people in front of him and even caused a few minor accidents. A woman cursed him for spoiling her expensive saree which got stained when Kesar's hand caused the drink in her hand to fall on her designer, one of a kind saree and to add to the insult he did not even say sorry. Truthfully Kesar had no idea of the mishaps he was causing along the way. He just wanted to see Gulaal-that was the only thing going through his mind. Finally he could see her standing near the mandap with some people. He recognized her mother and maybe the older man standing beside her was her father. There was also a younger man standing alongside her who looked like her brother or at least Kesar hoped he was. Kesar kept on staring at Gulaal who was now looking ahead and blushing. Kesar needed to know who caused her to blush but he is not able to see anything clearly as his view is blocked by some guests. Slowly he makes way to have a clearer view and he is surprised to find his family standing there with Gulaal's family.His baba was talking to Gulaal's father and his mom looked busy chatting with Gulaal's mother. This familiarity surprised Kesar but did not really bother him. He quickly turned to look at Gulaal who was now stealing glances at his brother and his brother seemed to do the same. He comes closer and sees his dad hugging Gulaal's father. Vasant notices him and shouts "Kesar,tu kahaan reh gaya tha yaar.main kab se doondh raha tha tujhe". His dad looks at Kesar and says happily "Kesar apne bhai ko badhai de kyunki jald hi iski bhi shaadi hone waali hai". He then points to Gulaal and says, "aur yeh rahi tumhari hone waali bhabhi".
GULAAL
Gulaal had been 19 when she met the man of her dreams, her Prince Charming. She could remember the day so clearly as if it was just yesterday-she had been attending a close family friend's marriage and she remembered with a smile how her mother took her away from her friends to meet some people. As soon as she saw who the people were she understood her mother's intentions. She had heard her parents talk about an alliance for her last night and she had been curious about that. She greeted every single person of the family with utmost respect and finally her eyes moved to the tall, fair and handsome guy who was standing in front of her. "Wow",she thought "this guy looks exactly like the hero from romance novels. All my friends will burn with jealousy". She smiled at her own thoughts and then once again looked at him, Vasant''"what a nice name and she silently tried it out in her mind''Vasant''.". "Kesar''", suddenly Gulaal's thoughts were interrupted and she looked to the side to find a boy standing stiffly staring intensely at her. Somehow it made her uncomfortable, "why is he staring at me like that?Is everthing all right with my face,my hair and my dress'..is it ok'.." she became conscious and unknowingly she brought her hand to her hair trying to smoothen it out and pulled at the pallu. She could never forget his eyes when Motaba declared "aur yeh hai teri hone waali bhabhi'." .What was it that blazed in his eyes''was it anger,hurt,shock'''.what,but why would he feel all those things'.She was a stranger to him''..He knew nothing about her then why did it look like his heart had just broken into million pieces?Gulaal could never understand till date but she could never forget his eyes'..never''.
