Bachchans have 5-6 bungalows, don't they? So it's not like there is no space. 50-100 crore investment would fetch you a decent sized villa.
A top star like Salman could easily get one. It's just that may be he doesn't want it.

Here is the reason why Salman still stays at Galaxy... It is for a sentimental reason only.
“I love staying at my flat in Bandra over a big, luxurious bungalow because my parents live in the flat above mine. Ever since I was a child I have taken the same left turn or right turn and I would not have it any other way,” Salman had earlier said. The Dabangg actor had also shared his memories attached to his house.
“The entire building is like one big family. When we were little, all the kids of the building would play together in the garden below and sometimes even sleep there. Back then, there weren’t different houses, all the houses were treated as our own and we would go into anyone’s house to eat food. I still stay in the same flat because I have countless memories attached to that house,” he had added.
Most of the yester-year actors own bungalows. Even the not so big stars. A lot of stars own bungalows JVPD, Juhu.
The younger stars mostly buy luxury apartment duplex, triplex or penthouses. Most owns 2-3 flats in Mumbai alone with holiday homes and farmhouses in Goa, Alibaug, Pune. As others said Mumbai hardly have land for big bungalows.
I guess something to do with tax also.

I don't think Salman does. He is very family oriented and living in separate flats but same building gives him privacy while technically living together. Also does anyone know if his two mothers live in the same flat? That might be a reason also

Mumbai is unique compared to the US. It has to deal with salty sea air that destroys metal, paint and exterior structures. On top of that, they have to deal with monsoon season and heavy rains that trap moisture. Maintenance is extremely difficult. Most structures end up looking crappy from the outside because of that but they are nice on the inside.
Mumbai also has the most expensive real estate in the world and the city itself has no space for sprawling mansions. People have to live in buildings just like in Manhattan.
Most actors have mansions just outside Mumbai in places like Alibaug, Panvel, Khandala, or Panchgani. They also have homes in other parts of the world.
Now even Panvel is getting so crowded😆

They have one bungalow in main area in Juhu. Even we had one bungalow in central Bombay but then that was brought over a 100 years ago.. it’s also like when you are buying it..
Agree with you Salman may not want to buy one.
cos Mumbai is densely populated and hence they don’t have much space , this effects the prices of appartment ... hence their simple apartment costs fortune .. it’s like New York where you have to pay tons of money for simple loft

But have you seen apartments in New York, they are luxurious and expensive like 5 star hotels.
The ones I have seen from Mumbai are terrible. I saw one apartment tour in mumbai, it was a small two bedroom apartment, all the appliances were old, the drywall had mold, It wasn't upgraded for the last 30 years, the guy was selling the place for 1.3 million US dollars
^That is ridicules . The quality of homes is a huge problem in India I think. In US if you pay for something that is expensive, you get the quality for it. In India that is not the case.

I think that depends from person to person .. I don’t think any of these celebs will be living in house with such shitty interior ..
but yes you have to see the houses in other cities , they are beautiful .. in Mumbai I do agree the prices of properties are ridiculously expensive ..
I don’t want to give example of Kangana but Yaa her home in manali is simply beautiful ..

lol, what are you talking about? Loads of apartments in NY are infested with roaches and rats and are in poor condition. The small apartments you are comparing with Mumbai are terrible in NY too.
You aren't paying for the quality of the apartment. You are paying for the location. Someone would buy the fixer upper for 1.3 million and renovate it and make it nice and it would be worth a lot more.
