====AUTHOR'S NOTE====
So, the much-awaited and the much-delayed post is finally here...
Before, all of you start reading this post, this analysis will be my own interpretation of the moments that have been shown in the previous three episodes (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday)...
Since, a lot of discussion have already taken place.. Therefore, don't get surprised if you see me refer to or build on some point raised by someone else...
(I will try to add references to the authors who have inspired me for this post)
====END OF AUTHOR'S NOTE====
1. Conversation between Bijoy and Dida (Wednesday's episode)
The first scene that comes to my mind when I think of Wednesday's episode is this small exchange between Bijoy and Dida...
Since, the inception of this series, we have witnessed Dida as an individual who is a source of joy and positivity for her family... She has also faced hardships in her life but it has not been able to take the joy that she feels for life or the love for her family..
We have seen her playing the roles of being a cool grandmother, a fabulous mother-in-law as well as a great friend...
But, in this episode, we (or at least, I) finally saw her portraying the role of mother to her son, Bijoy...
This scene can be considered as a filler' scene since it doesn't play any kind of major significance in the storyline... But, yet I felt that it was the marquee scene of the episode due to the positive message that it was able to spread...
Bijoy and Ishwari's actions and behaviour towards their children, and the role that their over-protectiveness and deep-rooted insecurities have played in the separation of their children's marriage, has been a major source of discussion and debate between the members of this thread..
They might have been a source of strength in their children's childhood years but they have become, more or less, a reason for their children to feel suffocated. And their actions also have the potential to destroy the innocence of their grand-daughter.
Throughout the series, we have seen them struggle to remain parents in their grown-up children's lives... Both of them want to be involved in their children's lives because of their concern and affection... (One more than the other... But, that's not the focus here)...
That is why, I felt that Dida's conversation was so significant and meaningful...
Unlike Bijoy and Ishwari, Dida doesn't unnecessarily interfere in her son's life.. She has immense faith on her own upbringing and hence, has the confidence that her son has the capability to take the right decisions...
Like every other parent, she also worry for her son's happiness... But, she also realises that her son is no longer a kid and hence, she can't protect him from the harshness of reality... She recognises that her son has the freedom to have an opinion/perspective (which might differ from her own views) as well as the liberty to make his own choices...
Why the scene was significant was not because she stepped into the role of a parent, but how she stepped into the role of a parent...
1-a. She didn't tackle or rebuked Bijoy like a 10 year old, but dealt with him like we usually deal with adults in our life...
First of all, she created an environment where she could express herself without hurting her son's hard-earned respect or ego...
She realised that her son is now a father-in-law and hence, asked Ronita to leave the room, to not hurt her son's respect (that was due to him being Ronita's father-in-law)... If she had expressed herself in front of Ronita, Bijoy's ego and self-respect would have definitely taken a hit...
This was in stark contrast to how Bijoy and Ishwari deals with their situation... Whenever Bijoy insults/passes comment on his son, it has a potential of creating a rift between himself and Saurabh, and the situation going from bad to worse...
Similarly, Ishwari's decision to reveal her crimes (or, in the past, questioning Sonakshi's or Dev's decisions in front of the whole family) undermines the credibility of all the people who are in question.. By continuously questioning Dev's decision to marry Sona or not accepting Sona publicly, she made both Dev and Sona easier targets for others (especially GKB and Vicky or even Neha).
1-b. Another thing to note was her body language when she expressed herself... She didn't beat around the bush and went straight to the point...
Instead of using any kind of emotional blackmail, she expressed her views in very simple plain words...
Throughout the course of the conversation, her body language was relaxed and calm... Her tone was also gentle (even when she lightly scolded her son for acting like a 10 year old), but at the same time, she had steel in her voice...
She didn't yell but her words were firm and assertive... It clearly conveyed the message that, she is the mother and Bijoy, despite his advanced age, is still her child.'
She recognised the fact that she could no longer unilaterally decide her son's actions but can only offer another perspective to look at a situation and can only play the role of an advisor rather than the role of an executive in her son's life...
This is another area where both Bijoy and Ishwari have failed miserably... As parents, they do have a right to express their views, but they don't have the right to expect that their children will act in the manner that they have expected...
(A/N: It reminded me of the times when my father intervenes in my life... He never enforces his own opinion but just gives me another perspective to look at things but leaves me the liberty to accept or decline his words...
His job was to tell me where he thinks I am going wrong, but he knows that he is no longer is in a position to actively decide the course of my life...
He believes in my ability as an independent human being who is capable of taking good, informed decisions...)
1-c. Last, but not the least, was how Dida, after expressing herself, didn't wait to see whether her son took her views into consideration (or not) and left the room. Hence, she willingly stepped down from her role of being a parent' to her son, recognising that she has done her duty as the mother to her son. By doing so, she is reinforcing her belief and confidence on her son's decision-making ability.
She understands that her son's respect and affection for her will not change whether he takes a decision which might (or might not) differ from her own beliefs or values... In the end, all she wants is her son's happiness and if he is satisfied and content with his decision, then whether it matched her own views or perspective doesn't matter to her..
In Thursday's episode, we see her smiling when she sees her son (calling the hospital asking information for Ishwari's health).. It was not because her son did what she wanted him to do, but he did what gave him peace and satisfaction...
She understands that her son's happiness might differ from her own happiness.. And, hence, as a mother, it is her responsibility to give him space to find his own happiness.
But, in contrast to her, both Bijoy and Ishwari doesn't trust their own children's decision-making ability... According to them, if their children are doing something which might differ from their own outlook, then, their children are disrespecting them or do not love them...
This is why, both of them resort to emotional blackmails (either in the form of making demands or promises).. While it might give them temporary satisfaction, but in the long run, it will not give them peace or calmness...
But, more importantly, both Dev and Sona, might begin to feel suffocated under their parent's unrealistic expectations...
(Even, right now... They are suffocating, but both of them are not questioning it, since they feel that their parents are right that they are not compatible... But, this situation might change soon..)
And hence, they might end up resenting their parents and it could also lead their children to drift away from them permanently...
2. Sonakshi's introspection of her actions in the hospital
I want to mention this scene because it is the one which surprised me the most...
I was pleasantly taken aback when Sona reflected on her actions and realised that she might have overstepped her boundaries in dealing with Khatri... I felt that it was a step in the positive direction and I am hopeful that we will soon see her reveal her inner fears too, in the future...
A lot of discussion has taken place on this thread, where people felt that Sona should expose her vulnerable self in front of Dev and while I definitely agree with this statement, I also realise and acknowledge that Dev has not yet reached a state where he can support Sona in an emotional sense...
Dev is still reeling from these changes and it will take him sometime, before he could finally be in a position where Sona could trust him with her fears and sorrows...
But, I want to bring into light some very interesting observations or inferences that I was able to draw out of the scene:
2-a. The question that continued to revolve in my mind, when I saw and reflected back on the scene, was, why now?'
What I mean to say, throughout her marriage, we wanted her to introspect on her over-eagerness to involve herself in every decision (whether it affected her or not)... She wanted to be part of every decision-making process, which made other people uncomfortable...
But, then, what has changed this time around, that she was forced to reflect back on her actions?
And, while in the pursuit of finding an answer to this question, I stumbled upon a wonderful post, written by @Sam, which touched on the aspect that Sona's patience and her ability to think before taking a decision and acting upon it, made a lot of her instincts to be proven right...
But, this prevented her from ever-thinking about the consequences of her actions, since she believed herself to be always right'.
And, I definitely agreed with @Sam's views and it inspired me to explore a territory, which I felt has been left unexplored for a long time... And, I would like to discuss it here...
There was a very interesting dialogue which Ishwari said (in either Thursday's or Friday's episode) which I felt is quite apt, in this situation about, 'how covering mess with a blanket doesn't clean the mess but only delays or hides it for sometime... But, in the end, we are forced to clean the mess, otherwise, it will only lead to more trouble...'
And, I feel that this is exactly what Sonakshi did during her marriage...
She, along with Dev, didn't have the communication channels ready which allowed them to discuss problems properly... This pushed both of them to take unilateral decisions for each other which ended up causing more problems, rather than solving it... (it could be applied to most of the issues in their marriage, including Neha's divorce or Riya's marriage or for that matter, Dev investment fiasco)
Since, both of them were acting simultaneously, therefore, it was easy for her to pass blame on Dev's shoulders and putting a proverbial blanket' over her own involvement in the problems, getting out of hand, by believing that it was due to her husband's intervention that the problems ended up blowing up on their respective faces...
And, since, most of her decisions or first instincts ended up right, the idea of being perfect, just perfect' grew in her mind and it has continued to reinforce itself in the past 7 years...
But, in the Khatri issue, Dev willingly stepped down from playing an active role solving this issue (after some initial hesitance) and ended up giving up complete control to Sonakshi...
Hence, she can no longer resort to her former action of passing blame on Dev's shoulders.. And, hence, when things went south (Ishwari getting hospitalised), she was forced to reflect back on her actions during this track...
2-b. Asha is one of my most favorite characters in this show... But, in Wednesday's episode, I completely disagreed with her when she told Sona to remain strong in front of Dev (even when she knew that her daughter was affected emotionally), just because she is his strength and his courage'..
I definitely understood why she said what she said but I believe that if someone is someone's strength (like Sona is to Dev), then, it is more important to share your inner sentiments since it not only reduces the burden on the shoulder of the individual who is supposed to play the role of anchor' but also increases the trust as well as strengthens the other individual to take more initiative and responsibility (in this case, Sona and Dev respectively).
So, it is fair to say that when I heard Asha say those words, sirens went inside my head.. But, when I calmed down and put my thinking cap on, I realised that, for the current circumstances, it is important for Sona to remain in control of her emotions...
I have already mentioned some reasons at the advent of this point, but in my opinion, Sonakshi knows and realises the fact that she is also burdened by the emotions that she has kept locked inside her...
But, she also knows that if she shares her vulnerable self with Dev and then, if the history repeats itself once again... Then, she knows that it will be the end of her... As well as with her destruction, she will also end up shattering her daughter's childhood.
That is why, she continues to use her past, her daughter and her promise to her father, as a way to safeguard herself from the pain and agony that she knows will follow her if she decides to listen to her heart once again...
Another interesting fact to note, is how Sona's facade has only slipped when Dev has been emotionally compromised (either when Dev was injured by the goons or after the confrontations with her with respect to Jatin and of course, the confession, among others)..
So, Dev has to stand up and provide her with evidence which can make her more confident regarding the whispers of her heart...
2-c. Since the beginning of this series, we have marked Dixits as family with traditional beliefs' while Boses as an example of a modern family'... But, in the last few weeks, especially the conversation between Asha and Sona made me realise that while Boses may appear like a modern family' but in reality, they are also traditional' in their thinking and their outlook...
Asha's statement to Sona reminded me of a very famous quote which I am sure we have all heard a thousand times:
Behind every successful man stands a woman' - Anonymous
This quote has been a part of popular literature for such a long time that it is impossible to know who said it first... But, one thing is for sure that whoever said it must have been an avid supporter of women and believed in their immense potential... (Since, I believe that when it was first said, it was a time when men were considered superior to women)
When I first heard it, I really liked it but in recent years, whenever I look at this quote, it leaves me with a sort of... bitter taste in my mouth...
While I don't deny the good intentions with which this quote has been said but I personally don't completely agree with this quote since I feel it lacks to take into account the changing times and circumstances...
With the advent of the 21st century, I feel that women have slowly but gradually, have not only risen to the same level as men (and, in some cases, have superseded them)..
Today, we all know and acknowledge that both men and women possess the same potential to achieve greatness and hence, no one can be considered as superior or inferior, as compared to a member of the opposing sex...
In fact, whenever I think of this quote, some questions pop in my mind and I would like to express them here:
* Is it necessary that behind every successful man, stands a woman? Can't it be another man or the man himself?
* Why does the woman always have to stand behind the man? Why can't she stand by his side?
* Isn't the vice-versa should also been considered? Why can't a man stand behind a successful woman?
In my opinion, ideals and principles also need to adapt and change themselves as times and mindset of people change...
(Probably, this is why, we see so many modern adaptations of this quote, like the one said by Mark Twain, Behind every successful man, there is a woman - And behind every unsuccessful man, there are two.'
I have mentioned the quote, just for amusement of readers who I feel are bored with this post... If you do not like it, please stop sharpening your knives to hunt me..)
2-d. Now, I want to use my above mentioned point as a building block for this point...
Whenever I think of the above quote, the image of Bijoy-Asha comes to my mind... The reason is quite simple...
I have always considered Bijoy to be a flawed person who was made to look better due to Asha's presence in his life... But, what makes them to fit the image (or words of the quote) perfectly is how Asha always plays the role of support system for Bijoy (or in other words, stands behind her husband), but I have never seen Bijoy playing a similar role...
In fact, I could hardly remember a scene Bijoy was trailing or standing behind Asha... It is always Asha who stands behind him..
I feel that this is a key observation and sheds some more light in their core characters...
2-d-A. Let's talk about Asha first...
In her conversation with Sona, when she told her daughter that she does not consider her husband as a perfect husband'... She revealed about how she used to remain silent and how Bijoy used to get irritated at the smallest of things during her initial married years..
I am not saying that Bijoy is a terrible husband, but what I am saying is that what we are seeing currently is a product of nearly 40 years of marriage and hence, what we might consider as a regular occurrence, might not be taken as granted...
Bijoy improved a lot, both as a human being and a husband, as time went by...
This, in my opinion, is a very important aspect to realise on why Asha has always remained partial towards Dev and still considers him as a good husband' material..
In my opinion, Asha allowed Bijoy to take charge of their relationship, especially during her initial years, to satisfy her husband's ego and pride... Hence, in some ways, she compromised her own principles and ideals to gain a chance of experiencing marital bliss...
(We have to realise that Asha never had to face a lot of problems when it came to adjusting with her husband's family since, I believe that Bijoy and Asha's marriage was an arranged one...
And, I frankly feel that the relationship shared between Dida and Asha during their initial years was quite similar to the one shared between her and Ronita...
As well as belonging to the same culture or community also prevented her from experiencing the cultural shock that her daughter faced during her own marriage...
Hence, whatever hurdles that she faced was mainly due to Bijoy's impulsive and hyper self...)
Another aspect which supports my theory is the constant emphasis by Bijoy that he is the man of the house'.. (Of course, the situation no longer remains true but I feel it has been an end result of a long marriage...)
On the other hand, Asha sees Dev giving importance to Sona's decision-making ability as well as his confidence when he allowed Sona to take charge of situations... This was something which she was able to achieve only after long years of her marriage...
Hence, she understands the worth of Dev's actions which Sonakshi continues to take for granted, since she never experienced anything which could show her the value of the right that Dev instinctively ended up giving her...
Another example which comes up in my mind, is when Sona left the Dixits to visit her maternal family, mere weeks after her marriage... And, then, Dev follows her and comes to meet her in the same day itself...
If we look at things from Asha's perspective, she sees her son-in-law coming to take her daughter back to their home, since he couldn't live a single day without her daughter's presence...
She knows that if she pulled something similar, Bijoy would neither have followed her nor would have forgiven her for seemingly hurting his self-respect and his ego...
I am sure that Asha has not disregarded the hardships that she saw her daughter facing in her husband's home but she was also able to see that the problem lied with her daughter's in-laws, rather than her daughter's husband... This is why, she wanted Sona to focus on Dev, rather on the negatives, i.e, her in-laws, especially Ishwari...
(Of course, I am not saying that Dev was the perfect husband.. He failed in a lot of critical areas, like supporting Sona during the infertility issue or failing to create a balance between his role as a son' and a husband'... Also, not ignoring the other issues, but in my opinion, they were minor in nature as compared to the ones that I have mentioned earlier...
And, to be frank, I don't think that Bijoy ever faced a situation where he was forced to choose between his mother and his wife... So, again, this is a point where I feel that our perspectives will differ)
2-d-B. Now, coming to Bijoy...
We have all spoken about how Bijoy is an individual who believes in absolute morality and principles...
But, I feel that there is a sea of difference between what he preaches and how he acts and his principles differs from one person or circumstance to another...
Let's use some examples to illustrate my point:
* Bijoy's wish for Sonakshi to control or be the dominant partner in her relationship with Dev...
But, it is clear that while he might wish his daughter to take charge of her marital relationship with her husband, he fails to give the same role to his wife...
He definitely considers Asha to be his best friend' and a source of immense strength for him, but he feels that he is the one who is the driver of his relationship with Asha...
In fact, he might blame Dev for not treating his daughter in the right manner (and, in some respect, he might be right), but in the above mentioned aspect, Dev doesn't have any qualms in playing a passive role in his relationship with Sona (in fact, we want him to take a more dominant position in both his life and his relationship)...
* Bijoy's desire that Sona should be part of her in-laws active decision-making process as well as his constant interference in his in-laws family matters...
But, again, here I see a discrepancy in his behaviour and his words...
(I am not saying that Bijoy has not welcomed Ronita as a part of his family... In fact, he has not only accepted Ronita as Saurabh's wife, but also has accepted her like a daughter. But...)
I have yet to see an incident where he allowed Ronita (or for that matter, any other person, except for Asha or his mother), to interfere in his own decisions... And, I don't think he will allow Mondals to interfere in his family's matters (like he did in her daughter's marriage).
This is why, Asha never revealed to him the truth regarding Mrs. Mondal stealing her own jewellery during her own daughter marriage...
(I wished to add another point on Ishwari but considering how much has already been discussed regarding her actions/thoughts... I feel that there is no point in reiterating a fact which has already been explored in much detail)
3. The conversation between Dev and the Almighty
Dev and his relationship with God goes a long way back...
In fact, their relationship has played an integral role in shaping a young boy who lost his father to become a successful businessman who had everything that one desires in their life to a man who lost everything due to his arrogance that he was superior to God and can rewrite his own destiny...
This conversation finally completes the circle which made a young boy to lose his faith to a man who had to finally accept that everyone is powerless in front of the Almighty... And, while one's actions can influence their future, no one has the power to change anyone's fate or destiny...
I was not surprised by the words that were spoken by Dev... These words were of a man who ended up losing all of his pride and his happiness for being arrogant enough to question the will of God...
And, as a punishment for his arrogance, he didn't only lose his happiness when he lost his love, his wife, but also was forced to remain away from the life of a little miracle (that he once prayed for and hoped for) for 6 years...
There are some very interesting aspects about this whole sequence which I really liked... None of it were directly related to the conversation but I felt it added to the significance of these scenes...
3-a. Sonakshi observing this whole conversation as well as getting to know about the previous time when Dev had a conversation with the Almighty and how he prayed for a miracle to bring happiness in Sonakshi's life (as well as his mother)...
Also, the part where he speaks about how his separation from Sona and him missing the initial years of Soha's life were his punishment for his mistakes (or his sins) were also very fascinating.
In a very subtle manner, this conversation revealed some changes that has happened in Dev's character to Sona... It also told her that with time, everything is possible and Dev is indeed capable of change...
3-b. Another interesting moment is when Soha prayed to God for not only Ishwari but also, for her father's happiness (I should not be surprised that Sona told Soha about her father's aversion to God, but yet I am...)
I felt that it was similar to the moment when Golu prayed for Dev's recovery (when he was injured by the goons)... It simply showed the pure and unconditional love that is showered on Dev by the kids...
Another thing which added to the simplicity and the charm of the scene was how Sonakshi tells Dev that he is not only a son, but he is also a well-beloved father and uncle, to Soha and Golu respectively... And, even when he thinks that he is nothing and is not able to achieve anything, he still is and will always remain a Superman' for the young angels present in his life...
I felt that these small moments, along with his conversation made this segment memorable...
(Special mention to @grace for writing an amazing article and being a source of inspiration for my post... For more information, please refer to the Post Script Note' section in the end)
3.c Lastly, I want to talk about a completely different point, that I believe is very loosely based on the subject of this point...
But, I felt that this subject provided me the perfect opportunity to discuss something regarding the character of Suhana and how she is portrayed' in the show.
==================
You know, at the start of this post-leap season, I really didn't like the constant switching between Soha, a 6 year old kid and Soha, a mature teenager... It was jarring for me...
But, after watching Suhana for the past couple of months, I have come to realise that she acts more like her normal self whenever she is with her parents (or even Golu)...
And, Suhana, in her natural state, is slightly bossy, mischievous... She loves to spend time and play with everyone... In fact, she loves every single member of her family with a pure heart... She loves to laugh and listen to fairy tales...
Like her mother, she is turning out to be quite a Daddy's princess'... In other simple words, she fulfils Dev's wish of having a mini-Khargosh'.
But, when she is not with her parents (either she could be with the Boses or the Dixits), she goes into a sort of... a shell, where she hides her inner innocence and playful self... She becomes more serious, mature as well as her desire for being perfect, just perfect' also comes to the fore...
So, again, she slightly becomes a mini-version of her mother's current self (or in Bijoy Bose's words, her mother's tail)...
I am sure that every reader of this thread knows about the fact that babies can sense the emotions of the individuals around them and that it affects how they behave around them...
Somehow, I feel that Soha still retains that child-like trait in her, despite her maturity or having a thinking process which goes beyond her age...
Suhana feels slightly uncomfortable and scared, around strangers or when her parents are not in close proximity (she might have gotten used to the fact that her mother and father might leave her for sometime, but it doesn't mean that she is entirely comfortable with this fact)...
The constant arguments and the hidden anger and resentment between the members of the respective families makes her unnerved and hence, she guards herself by retreating into a shell... Even though, no real argument has happened in front of her but she is observant and hence, I will not be surprised to know that she can feel the tension when the two families meet... (I know that she doesn't know anything about the past but subconsciously, she understands that something is wrong)
This is why, I feel that she continuously looks for either her mother or her father's presence since they calm her down and she feels protected from all the negativity present around her...
On the other hand, Soha behaves completely different when Dev and Sona are around her... She feels like she can reveal her true self... Her innocence and mischievous self comes back... She laughs, plays, dreams and most importantly, enjoy and cherish every single moment that she spends with her parents...
And, it warms my heart when I see Dev and Sona, despite their difficult past and their own different viewpoints, come together and do everything in their power to bring and keep the glowing smile on their daughter's beautiful visage.. They are both very protective about her and consider Soha as the most beautiful blessing and hence, cherishes and loves her so much...
But, most importantly, they were able to create an environment for their daughter where Soha can be whatever she wants to be... They only want to see their daughter happy and accepts her wholeheartedly, without any kind of expectation from her... Dev loves her daughter and doesn't feel that he needs to convert Soha from a Bose to a Dixit' and the same goes for Sona...
Even though, both Dev and Sona were trapped in the web of being a Dixit and a Bose, which led to their relationship suffocating itself to death... They ensured that their daughter will never share their fate and hence, will have an opportunity to discover her true identity...
For her father, she is and will always remain his princess' and for her mother, she is and always remain her little angel'... And, in my opinion, not only Dev and Sona brings the real Soha out in the open... Their daughter also tends to bring the inner Mr. Aubhodro' and Ms. Khargosh' in the open...
This is why, I sincerely hope that the new phase will focus more on these three souls and that they can finally be together, in the manner that they were always destined to be...
===============
4. Ishwari's talks and behavior in the hospital
Frankly speaking, I had no intention of analysing the various scenes with respect to Ishwari (like her conversation with her memsaab' or her subsequent talks with Dev, Sona, GKB or Asha) since I felt that it was indeed straightforward...
But, when I came to this thread after watching Friday's episode, I started doubting myself that whether I have missed something really big that I should have observed... So, going against my own principles, I once again, ended up watching the whole Friday's episode (had a lot of free time in the flight).
And, I realised that my opinion or views still remained the same.. But, even then, for completion's sake, I decided to add this point to express my own views regarding the whole sequence of events..
4-a. First of all, let's deal with the elephants present in this room, which were the prime reason for me to rewatch Friday's episode, Ishwari's conversation with her memsaab' and especially, Malti touching Ishwari's feet...
Even after rewatching it, I didn't find anything out of the ordinary when I watched the scene where Malti touched Ishwari's feet, simply because it was just a gesture to stop Ishwari from sitting up and hence, Malti (non-verbally) communicated to her former employee to take care of her health...
In my opinion, the creatives just put emphasis on the feet-touching' sequence for melodramatic purposes and I think, we cannot fault them for exercising their right of creative liberty... But, in no way or form, I felt that the writers were trying to glorify Ishwari's actions or her crime...
In fact, throughout the conversation, I didn't hear the words I forgive you' or something similar coming out of Malti's mouth... So, it is safe to say that she still holds Ishwari guilty of theft (even, it's just 2 bangles) and hence, has not given her forgiveness...
But, yes, she did release Ishwari from the guilt of thinking that she is responsible for destroying her memsaab's family...
And, as for the sequence when Malti asked for forgiveness, it was not for accusing Ishwari for committing a crime but it was for her own actions of all the poisonous words that she had said to Ishwari (during their phone conversation and hence, she might believe that she is the reason for Ishwari getting hospitalized) and for falling prey to Khatri's words and hence, cursing her former servant of being the reason for her family's ruin...
And, by doing this she proved herself to be the bigger and better person than Ishwari... Another reason, in support of my aforementioned observation, is the last bit of the conversation...
In the last bit, Ishwari asks her memsaab' to give her an opportunity to repent for her crimes/sins by assuming responsibility for the betterment of her former mistress' family...
4-b. Ishwari is a woman with traditional beliefs and values who believes in God and ideals like karma, sin, punishment and retribution, etc..
And, hence, for her debts of gratitude' or ehsaans' play a very significant role in her life...
Sona's role in her finally getting released from her life-long burden is indeed an ehsaan' which forced her to recognise that Sonakshi is indeed a girl with good moral values and it was due to the difference in their viewpoints which were the reason for her son and Sona to part ways...
In no ways, I am saying that she has started considering as her family and I do believe that she has a long way to go but I felt that Sona's actions has made her realise that Sona is not a punishment or a mistake (or to be more precise, Dev's zidd..)
4-c. Building on the previous post, it is safe to say that GKB will continue to stop Ishwari from moving forward by continuously dragging her back and reminding her of the past that she can't escape...
Hence, it is very evident that for Ishwari to have a chance at redemption, GKB and Vicky's acts needs to be exposed... We still see Ishwari clinging on to her previous beliefs of apna' and paraya'...
And, I am sure that it will remain same until she is forced to realign her own ideals or definitions... And, it will only happen when she comes to know the truth regarding GKB-Vicky's actions and will permanently change, not only her perceptions, but also her dynamics with Sona (and others)...
As a side note, I really like the continuous downward spiral that Vicky is currently going through... And, I really liked the dialogue/scene when Vicky is frustrated with himself for playing a role of a side actor', instead of playing the role of the lead' (like he believes himself to be)
We have already seen how God punished his elder brother for his arrogance and ego (when he challenged the God himself) and now, I am sure that Vicky's (who has also started considering himself as the master of someone else's fate) end is also near...
4-d. And, finally I don't believe that Ishwari's redemption lies in accepting Sonakshi as a part of her family... But, her redemption actually relies on acknowledging and accepting the fact that Sona is a part of her son's life and that her son's happiness might be different from her happiness...
The same also applies to Bijoy Bose...
5. Lack of Emotional impact observed in the previous week's episodes
I am not saying that the episodes aired in the previous week lacked emotion... Definitely, there were a lot of scenes or dialogues which touched my heart.. (Otherwise, the length of this post would have been very small.. )
But, what I am trying to convey is that no episodes left me in an emotionally drained state... No episode left me in the verge of the tears or choked my heart with the sudden overflow of emotions...
The last episode which left me in such a state was the episode when Dev exposed his vulnerable self to Sona (in an inebriated state), that confession sequence (which is was at most, 5-8 minutes in length) made me kneel down in surrender at the sudden explosion of pain and sheer agony in my chest, looking at the desperation and hopelessness on the faces of both the protagonists...
That confession scene was raw, brutal and tormenting.. In fact, it was such a difficult thing to express myself and write my analysis of the confession sequence, without losing the battle with over-raging emotions... I have to really refocus myself constantly to write a post, where I do not end up blabbering all over..
But, after that episode, while there have been some really good scenes which have definitely tugged at my heartstrings like Dev and Sona's mature conversation (when Dev reveals Ishwari's demand to Sona), Ishwari's conversation with her former mistress', Malti (referring to their conversation on the phone) or Ishwari's nightmare of Dev rejecting her, as well as others (including the scenes that I have mentioned above)...
I have been feeling numb since I watched the (aforementioned confession) episode... The following episodes paled in comparison, when it came to emotional connect...
This lack of emotional connect left me in a perplexed state... In fact, I was left scratching my head thinking why I am feeling this way' but then, I realised that I have felt the same thing previously, in reference to this show...
One crystal clear time (where I felt similarly) was the phase when Sonakshi broke her engagement with Rithwik...
Like this time, even then, after the emotionally draining confession scene between Dev and Sona (happened when Sona brought Dev back from her engagement ceremony, in an inebriated state), I felt numb, even though a lot of significant scenes like the prenup confrontation or revelation of Sona's infertility happened...
This phase ended with Dev and Sona's marriage and hence, another new phase of Dev-Sona's lives started...
Something similar also happened during the last phase of their marriage (where infertility track made me numb and hence, all the other events like Dev slapping Bijoy or Vicky, using Dev's name threw Boses out of their home became sort of insignificant to me..) and this phase concluded with their divorce and hence, the ensuing separation...
So, I feel that this is not a new thing when it comes to this show... Whenever our show undergoes a transition, something similar happens.. And, I am pretty sure that, by the end, of next week, we will have a more clear picture of what's coming ahead of us... And, instead of getting anxious, I feel that we should strap our seatbelts and enjoy the next few episodes since I feel it will be a bumpy but an exciting ride...

====[POST SCRIPT NOTE====
1. And, a big Shout Out to @grace for writing an amazing post on the main forums which explored Dev's transformation since the first episode based on his status or belief in the supernatural Entities...
I did send her a private message to inform her and seek her permission to use her thread as a reference for my post... But, unfortunately she still hasn't replied back.. I also delayed the submission of this post waiting for an answer but then, due to the constant delay in submission of this post, I realised that it will be unfair to all of you, who are waiting for my post for the past 3 days or so...
Here is the link to the thread: https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/142089942
EDIT: I just received a reply from @grace who have very graciously accepted my request...
2. After writing this post, I realised that this task has started to affect my professional life... And, thus, I have decided to write posts, like analysis of each and every episode... I will still continue to remain an active part of this thread as a reader and will definitely, from time to time, express my views when I feel strongly for something happening in the show...
But, at least for the foreseeable future, I have decided to end writing analysis covering every episode...
3. Please let me elaborate on what I have said in my above mentioned point...
I absolutely love to express myself here... I love answering the questions that I know will come my way.. To be honest with all of you, a sense of pride and happiness fills my heart whenever I see all of you, amazing readers appreciating and commenting on my posts...
Your encouraging and appreciative words always pushes me to challenge myself, so that I can live up to your expectations...
But, I would be lying if I said that writing these kind of posts on a regular basis doesn't take a toll on my life... With each post, I am finding it more and more difficult to maintain the balance between my personal and professional life...
Let's just take this post as an example:
This post has more than 7000 words in it and as you can very well observe, this is a post which is nearly impossible for me to write in one sitting..
So, it ends up becoming something where I have to allot multiple sessions of my life to complete it...
But, the most difficult part of writing these kind of posts is not the length, but the amount of mental focus that I need to put in these things..
It usually takes me 4-6 hours to write one single point (in this case) because I need time to structure, connect as well as organising the various sub-parts of a point (while managing my other work-related stuff)
So, this post took me nearly 4 days to finish the first draft... And, then, the editing process starts where I reread what I have written at least 3-4 times to correct some common spelling or grammatical errors as well as polish some of the rough edges...
In other simple words, a post which usually takes up 20-30 minutes of your time, actually is a result of multiple days' efforts...
I am not saying that I don't enjoy or have fun while writing these things... In fact, I feel satisfied by the efforts that I put in... But, as time goes by, this has definitely more like 'work'... Hence, my decision to remain a member of this thread in a limited capacity..
And, please do express your opinions... After all, this is why I write these posts..
