Your post hits the nail in the head. Ishwari was reduced to "merely" Dev's mother in her own perception

I too had this doubt Shaavi. Infact, evenif nobody suggests Jatin's name, it's Dev's duty to invite Jatin too for dinner...why I mentioned Dev, is because, I feel it's Dev's idea to invite the Bose's for dinner and that's why RR is so interested in spoiling it.
