*Season 2, Week 15* Analysis Thread

Grace, following the discussion from previous thread regarding the pace, I can totally understand the confusion and frustration. The reason is because in past 2 weeks i.e. From the time Dev brought Sonakshi and Suhana to IN till last Friday's episode had tracks overlapped which in season 1 was shown spread across multiple months. Also the tracks in season 1 were shown one after another while it was shown all together in last couple of weeks. There was also lax in editing which kind of caused the portraying to be choppy and disjointed.

1) Riya Ayaan track vs Sonakshi Jotin track -- During Riya Ayaan track it is only Sonakshi who finds his relationship with his cousin weird. Ayaan tries his best to convince everyone that she was just his sister. It is finally broken by Sonakshi who follows them to the cafe and makes a video of their act and exposes them to everybody.

Here Sonakshi keeps telling Jotin is her friend, but Dev is not convinced. He follows them to the cafe which was once their safe haven, confronts Sonakshi with the photo as the evidence.

2) Dev getting sick, Sonakshi giving him cold shower vs Suhana getting sick -- when Dev gets sick, Sonakshi tries to give him medicine, is opposed by Ishwari saying she knows better. Sonakshi goes against her, gives cold shower, helps in getting better. Once Ishwari finds that what Sonakshi did was helpful, she leaves his care to Sonakshi. Although Dev and Sonakshi is shown in same costume, the way it was presented was several days were passed.

It is very similar with Suhana's chicken pox. Sonakshi says she has given medicine, but it is Ishwari's home remedy which provides relief to Suhana from pain and itching. Once Sonakshi finds that the paste given by Dev was helpfu she continues to use it with Suhana to help her with her pain.

3) Dev getting sick before his relation with Sonakshi is known to family vs Suhana's illness -- when Dev falls sick, even though it is Sonakshi who initially treats him, later Ishwari takes over and forbids Sonakshi from entering Dev's room. At that time Sonakshi is very sad, tries to reach him and feels very dejected.

Here too it is Dev who first finds Suhana has fever, then it is in front of him that she faints and later doctor tells him that he cannot go near her. Just like Sonakshi who wanted nothing else but to stay next to Dev and take care of him, Dev wanted the same. How Sonakshi was forbidden, Dev was too.

4) Ayaan blackmailing Dev regarding fake pregnancy vs Khatri blackmailing Sonakshi regarding Ishwari -- Ayaan finds that Sonakshi's pregnancy is fake, hence he blackmails Dev that he should let him marry Riya. He thinks he has the trump card.

Here Khatri knows Sonakshi doesn't really know anything. He tells her to reveal Ishwari's whereabouts with the threat of revealing that secret which Ishwari has buried for such a long time.

5) Maamaji's absence during infertility, 5cs fiasco and fertility treatment vs Ishwari's absence in last week -- maamaji is the only one who can drill some sense into Ishwari. But immediately following Ishwari saying Sonakshi is pregnant, he leaves IN and returns only when things have snow balled to the stage where there is very little ties left. He is shown to come back on the day when Sonakshi comes with the check. Even when he wants to, he is not really able to control the outcome leading to Dev saying get out and Sonakshi leaving.

Here Ishwari is the only one who knows the truth regarding Khatri's allegations and she is the one absent. When she comes back there is very little she can do and control the consequences of everything that has happened. She will not be able to stop Suhana from leaving.

6) Sonakshi unavailable to Dev following Bijoy getting slapped to Dev's absence now when Sonakshi says she needs him -- after the accidental slap and Sonakshi going back to Bose house, Dev tries to reach her multiple times but finds her unwilling to hear him.

Here Dev is in that place. He is not ready to listen to Sonakshi saying that Jotin is just her friend and nothing more. He is also unreachable to her when she feels his need the most.

7) Dev Sonakshi Shimla resort vs Bose family in resort -- although Dev and Sonakshi are supposed to be alone in the resort, Ishwari is present there with them every minute throughout their stay. There too Dev and Sonakshi end up not eating the dinner as they could not get what they wanted.

Here both the Bose couples are physically present in the same resort, order the same food but end up not being able to eat it as the order was messed up by the resort personnel.

Just like Dev and Sonakshi come back to storm brewing due to the 5cr, Boses have come back unaware of the storm brewing in Dev and Sonakshi's life.



Apart from these major tracks there is many other minor tracks that are included too. Like Ishwari coming near Dev's room, hearing Dev and Sonakshi laughing and stopping herself from disturbing to Dev hearing Suhana Jotin laughing and deciding not to disturb them. In both cases they feel very sad. We also have similarity in Nikki telling Sonakshi that she is to sleep in Riya's room so as not to disturb Dev to Dev telling the kids that Sonakshi will sleep in guest room as she needs rest. We also have Vickky applying medicine to Elena's hurt same as Dev applying medicine to Sonakshi after her getting burnt during Diwali. It is also one more thing where GKB applies water first to Sonakshi's feet while it is Sonakshi who does the same to GKB when she burns her hand. The other important parallel is Sonakshi catching GKB taking money out of the drawer from Ishwari's room to Sonakshi taking Dev's childhood picture from Ishwari's cupboard.

If in the last post I elaborated on the parallels, I am going to talk about the next story line here. What they showed had to be shown if they want to show Sonakshi confessing her love to Dev in June. They still need to show Dev -- Natasha -- Sonakshi track with Dev -- Sonakshi -- Jotin where Dev is Sonakshi, Sonakshi is Dev and Jotin is Natasha.

Similar to Dev and Sonakshi breaking up following the get out, we will see Sonakshi and Suhana leaving IN. Just like Sonakshi was unaware of the existence of prenup, Ishwari is unaware of the legal document signed by Dev giving up his rights over Suhana. If Ishwari used it to tell Dev to prove his loyalty, Bijoy will ask the same from Sonakshi. Dev signed that document without his knowledge but still had known his mom wanted one. Here Sonakshi might have gotten Dev to sign it, but did not have any intention of using it. It will play a major role in bringing the separation between Bijoy and Sonakshi just like what prenup did for Dev and Ishwari.

Sonakshi considered Bijoy to be the perfect husband and son. Her illusion of him being perfect husband was broken by Asha. Bijoy using this document to distance Dev from Suhana will open her eyes to Bijoy not being a perfect father, but as a fallible person.

Ishwari did not think she did anything wrong by getting Dev to sign the prenup or in interfering in Dev Sonakshi's relationship and causing them to separate. She also feels that Suhana is the achievement for her struggles like Sam has previously mentioned. But now when she gets to know that Dev has no rights on Suhana, that he cannot claim her as his own she will be disappointed. She might initially blame Sonakshi, but when confronted with the fact that Suhana is Sonakshi's daughter she will have no choice but to introspect. She will have to accept Sonakshi's place as Suhana's mother. Also that what she did was not for Dev's own good. That it is she who is responsible for Dev losing his happiness. This is one of the major revelation that has to happen following many more. But this is the first one that has to come out so that Sonakshi can enter IN as Dev's wife. Only when this happens can the other things come out like all the things GKB and Vickky did and also what she herself did.


In Friday's episode, Sonakshi says 2 important things --

1) she refers to Dev as the moon -- here it is symbolic in 2 ways. One is a moon's blemishes as seen even to naked eyes, but a sun's blemishes are not visible. One needs special tools or is only visible during eclipse. Here Dev is a person with many faults which were easily visible. While Ishwari convinced herself that there weren't any flaws in Dev or herself, Sonakshi could very easily see it. On the other hand, Sonakshi considers her father perfect and hence as the son which is what she wanted Dev to become.

The other symbolism is that a moon revolves around only one planet. But a son gives warmth to all the planets and moons. Here Dev being the moon revolved around Ishwari. There was no way he could revolve around Sonakshi at the same time. She had to become a moon and revolve around the same planet as him if she wanted to stay with him. But it was not possible. Hence Dev had to slowly evolve into the planet himself or the sun around whom Ishwari and Sonakshi could be balanced.

2) Saari galti Dev ki hi to who nahi sakthi, maine bhi galtiyan khi hogi-- this is said by Sonakshi to maamaji. Till now any time Dev talks about the past, he says that he made mistakes, he admits to being wrong. But Sonakshi says that "she MAY have made mistakes". This non admittance of mistakes is one of the major flaws of Sonakshi. She assumes that all her decisions are correct and that she is not answerable to anyone regarding her decisions. She came up with the idea of this weekly shuttling without taking into account what Bose family or Dixit family thinks about it. The right thing would have been to tell Bijoy and Asha about her idea and that Dev and she were still figuring it out. When Dev shows up at Bose family doorstep, she justifies her decision as the right thing for Suhana. Jotin at that time supports her decision saying that she is smart and she knows what she is doing. He is also supporting her in her investigation of Khatri even when he suggests her to talk to Dev. But he doesn't say her remaining quite regarding it to Dev is wrong.

No matter how independent one is, when married to someone it is very important to take some decisions jointly especially when it has a long term impact. I want to give a personal example. I go shopping, buy clothes, shoes and things like that for the kids or myself without telling my husband. He also buys gadgets and things like that without telling me. But if we plan to buy a house or change jobs or kids education we discuss before coming to a decision. We talk through what we are thinking and then come to a conclusion which has both our opinions and is right for both of us.

This is something that Sonakshi fails to do. She assumes that all her decisions are right, hence she need not discuss with anyone before taking them. Right now Jotin supports all her decisions. She will expect him to continue doing that in the future too. As long as he is just a friend, he will support her as it has less impact on his life. But once he is put in the role of life partner, this expectation will change. He need not marry her, but just being intended for that role brings the need for him to be part of her decision making process. This is when Sonakshi will face resistance and not support for her decisions by the person who had till now never opposed her. Only when that happens will she realize her mistakes and contribution to the breaking up of the marriage. Only when she says "I made mistakes" instead of "I may have made mistakes" will there be any future fDev and Sonakshi.
