Prologue
He was shocked to the core when he saw that frail body lying there on the stretcher. Never in his life would he have thought that there would come a day where he would see her in such a condition.
Her body was pale, she had lost the pink in her body which made her look lifeless but thankfully she was still alive. Yes, she was very much alive though her pulse was very weak.
He let out a sigh of relief after being informed by the doctor that she was out of the critical state and she will be moved to the wards. He still hasn't recovered from the shock he had when he received the news that she had survived such a horrible , devastating and near to death incident which took place a couple of hours ago .
Only he knew what he had went through during those couple of hours. The mere thought of losing her was too much for him to bear. He never left her side for even a second as he knew how much she hated the hospitals.
Though she was out of the critical state, the doctors were still checking up on her to make sure everything was fine. "Doctor, is everything alright?" He asked when he sees the doctor checking on her every half an hour. "Yes everything is fine, it's just that we are keeping an eye on the patient because her condition is very delicate." The doctor replied.
"Her condition is delicate? How so doctor?" He questioned the doctor. The doctor replied "Though the patient is out of the critical state, her pulse is still very weak and given the condition she's in there is a high chance that she'll slip back into a critical state if her pulse doesn't increase any time soon. If it so happens that her pulse remains weak, I'm afraid it'll be hard for us to save both the mother and child."
"Child?! What do you mean doctor?!" He asked. The doctor replied "The patient is 4 months pregnant." "4 months pregnant?" he asked. The doctor nods his head and excused himself.
This was the second shock he received today. He couldn't believe his ears when the doctor informed him that she was 4 months pregnant. He looked at her peaceful face, the rush of pink was slowly returning to color her skin. He then lowered his gaze to her stomach, he was happy to know that she is with a child, his child.
He looked just like any other proud fathers out there when they get the news that they are going to be a father. A sudden thought came across his mind Hold still, is that child really mine? He asked himself as they had broke up 3 months ago but he shook that thought away thinking how could he have doubt her at all .
She was the most purest and the most divine woman he have ever met and not to mention that he was the first man for her and she was not the type to randomly sleep with a man. He was sure now that the child growing inside of her was his. The only thing he was not sure about was the reason why she had hid the fact that she was pregnant from him. He told himself that he will get all his questions answered when she wakes up.
All the happiness that he was feeling then was short-lived when he heard the machines going haywire beside him. Everything happened so fast that his mind was not able to absorb anything happening around him. The doctors and nurses had rush in and are trying their level best to save her. She has slipped back into a critical state due to her pulse remaining weak. Her life was in danger.
She was taken to the operation theatre while he waited for the doctors in the waiting room once again. He knew then that his love and his child were fighting for their lives and he was determined to not lose them. For the first time in many years, he prayed to God asking Him to save the both of them as he can't live without them.
After what seemed like eternity, the doctors emerged from the operation theater. He was anxious to know her condition "How is she doing doctor?" He asked. "The operation was a success. By God's grace we were able to bring the patient out of the critical state once again however ... ..." The doctor hesitated to say anything further.
The color in his face drained when he heard a however' from the doctor. He knew that their lives were still in danger but what kind of danger that he didn't know. He mustered all the courage he could find in him and asks "However what doctor?" "However I'm afraid we were not able to prevent her from slipping into a coma." The doctor replied with full of regret while he dropped on his knees with disbelief.
