Part 14
Arohi woke up with a smile the next day, the same way she usually woke up back home. She expected to see arjun at breakfast , but to her disappointment him and jignesh had left early and it was just her and raashi. That evening raashi took her around after picking her up. Next day was the same , but in the evening when she and raashi went out and were back on their way home, raashi stopped at a busy market and told arohi, it is the best place to shop and they can go home picking up dinner. Arohi wanted to buy some stuff she promised guddi. Arjun had an irritating day at work, with all the things he had requested to be ready not being done and to top it he had not been able to talk to arohi properly since the night they had coffee together. He called raashi on his way back and told he and jignesh will also be there soon. After 10 '15 minutes arjun and jignesh also joined them. Arohi while pleasantly surprised to see them there, continued her quest of finding right things. Arjun was not happy about the busy timing and the place and idea of still shopping. 'why did you come here then' raashi asked him, 'to see that you get home early without losing track of time' he snapped, 'what is the matter with you' 'nothing , is dinner ready or shld we pack or shld we eat out' he questioned her, 'we have to pick up' she said, 'fine then me and jignesh we leave and pick it up on our way' and 'you and arohi too start home now, you can continue tomorrow' he said looking at arohi's direction. Not finding her there , he looked around and still there was no sight of her. 'where is arohi' he asked raashi, 'she must be in the cloth store, she wanted to buy some dresses' she went inside the shop and arohi wasn't there either. 'call her' he said , they both tried her number but couldnot reach her cell. He had a worried look on his face and looked as far ahead as he can 'don't worry where will she go , she went couple of shops ahead I guess' 'I will look' he said and went into the crowded street calling out her name a bit loudly. He was now deeply worried and feared the worst. He did not remember properly what color she was wearing, damn if only he can look anything other than those eyes and her face, he cursed himself for not being attentive enough to see where arohi went and was just getting angry on himself.
He went in and out of the stores and made a turn and looked the other side and came to where he had started, that is when he saw arohi standing with raashi telling her something and his phone rang , raashi was calling to let him know arohi was safe. He had never been so relieved, keeping her in his sight he walked to them 'are you okay?' he asked her 'yeah,' she said not knowing why they were all so tensed. 'where were you?' 'oh, I went into this cloth store, and there a lady told there was good collection in the shop that was in the alley next to this' 'and you went there?' he said trying to keep his cool 'yeah, I did, but it was nothing great so I just came back' 'where was the shop?' he asked again, raashi could sense he was getting angry and wanted to cut in , arohi was surprised he kept asking questions, she showed him the small galli that went in next to the big shop, there were people there also and few shops, the road getting narrower, he could not see where it actually led or ended. He clenched his teeth, and controlled his anger, she went just like that without checking anything, what if it was a bad place, who knows what was in there 'we called you' he said again, 'it is okay arjun, now she is here na, lets go home' raashi tried to ease the situation 'I forgot to charge my cell and' that is when arohi saw the anger and worry both in his eyes, she realized they were worried since they could not see her, oh no, she had put them all in the trouble of looking for her? this she hated, her being a cause of inconvenience , she told the same 'sorry, I did not realize that I made you all worry, because of me such an inconvenience '.' 'it is not an inconvenience' arjun snapped ,now he was visibly upset with her, he was ready to do whatever it takes to keep her happy and she was thinking she was causing inconvenience to them. 'arjun , you and jignesh leave , remember you have to pick up dinner' raashi told him. 'sure ..' arjun left, without saying bye to arohi.
Arohi said 'sorry raashi , I did not know u will get worried' 'no problem arohi, this is a new place to you, and don't mind arjun , he gets worried when I don't come back home on time too, let us go home' she said. When they reached home, arjun was already home, that means he drove quite fast. He was setting up the table and was putting food on his plate. It had all collectively bothered him, the emoployees' laziness, arohi's short disappearance, her inconvenience statement, not charging the cell, and he was hungry too, all put together he was cranky. By the time arohi kept the bags inside, changed and cme back, he had gone upstairs to eat. This made arohi too sad, first she could not tolerate the fact that arjun got worried and angry earlier and now he was not at the table either. Raashi tried her best to to make it look casual, arohi tried her best to show she was not upset or offended. But once inside the room she felt new kind of pain. She waa not able to understand what it was. Usually dinner time was filled with lively talks and jokes and today in arjun's absence she felt lonely. If it was someone else who was mad at her she would have packed her bags and left, but it was arjun who appeared to be mad and she was not able to take it. She was not even sure if he was angry, but was sure that he was upset.
She could not sleep yet again, she did not feel like calling bua either nor did she feel like looking at all the stuff she bought for them and guddi. She felt like sitting in the reading area in the living room corner and came out. Her heart was secretly expecting that arjun might come down too, like he did a couple of times before. She canntot deny that she remembered what happened in the elevator or in the kitchen the other day. She was not able to decide what it all meant. She was not even sure if it meant anything to arjun at all. She was now bothered about his silent disapproval of her going like that. If it was anyone else she would have said she wont stay there and left, just like how she does not go to her relative's houses for vacation since the time they said something to her. but here she was not able to think like that, the tought of leaving never came , but instead she was thinking of when arjun will come and talk to her.
She heard footsteps down the stairs and recognized them immediately. Her heart beat faster this time and with the corner of the eye she saw if he approached her. Arjun came down for not able to sleep. As a habit he came down , not knowing why he came down.
He saw arohi sitting in the corner area and wanted to go and talk to her, but something was holding him back, he was still not completely allright with what happened earlier. It was no big deal, true, it was just for few minutes and if they had waited she would have been back, but try telling that to his stupid heart. He wanted her to feel the same way he was when he saw her safe, she should have also felt same way seeing he was upset, instead she thought it to be an inconvenience to him. He was in childlike anger but went towards the stairs round about so he can go by her chair, she saw him coming nearer , she closed her book and got up to leave , and found him in front of her, she felt a lump seeing him still with the same expression and without talking she wanted to leave, 'did you charge ur cell' he asked seeing her leave, 'yes' she snapped and left from there into her room. He sighed , seeing her leave like that, immediately took out his anger and in place of it came a need to talk to her suddenly, he walked behind her 'arohi' he said stopping her 'sorry , I got little overly worried out there' 'it is fine .. I just don't want to be a ..' she stopped looking at the pain her words cld cause if she said hindrance,trouble. It was such a small issue , but it appeared too big to both of them. 'good night' she said softly and went in, closing the door and letting the tear drop now. she had no idea why she even cried. That was because the hearts had silently made connection and were longing to be with each other. Arjun knew that already, arohi was yet to know.
They both woke up early next day, arohi was give a key to the home too and the pin to the elevator so she could go out and come in. She woke up had a glass of milk and decided to go for a walk. Arjun had done the same only few minutes earlier . when she came down and started walking on the pavement into the neighbourhood, that is when she screamed turned , hit someone and was about to fall, but was held tight and got pushed behind the person. It all happened because of a ferocious dog. It could be said wolf like dog. It had caught her offgaurd, she basically feared dogs it was a phobia , she cannot go near them, period. She was walking and that is when the dog , no the wolf big and stout , furry black and white and ferocious , came running towards her barking , she did not see the leash attached to it. She just screamed her lungs out , closed her ears and eyes and turned around , only to hit someone and that someone now shielded her making her go behind the back. 'it is okay now arohi, open your eyes' arjun's voice called out to her softly, she opened her eyes and first thing she saw was the dog was being walked away by its owner, she looked up and saw arjun standing a few inches away. They looked at each other for a few seconds, his eyes were like they always were soft yet intense. She quickly let go of the shirt, and looked away with tear filled eyes, this time the tears could be because she heard his voice being soft like before and because the dog had made her look silly. He let her take the moment, when he felt she was okay 'are you scared of dogs' he asked her she nodded affirmative, 'they should lock it up, it is so scary, why do they let it bark at ppl' she vented out rolling her big eyes, he was amused to see her angry at a dog which was designed to bark 'I know right, how dare it comes running at you like that' 'yeah' she said still angry 'it had not seen u properly, one proper look at you and it stopped' he said , 'huh?' 'it is okay now, that dog was ferocious but as long as they are on the leash you don't have to worry' he said holding back his smile, if she sees it she might take out all that anger on him. They both went back home, forgetting the purpose of why they had come out, exercise went off in the air, it was just them both that mattered. Stangely neither of them told this incident to raashi.
She felt better now, heart and head feeling light she was back to her usual pleasant mode. So was he, he was back to his cheerful mood and they planned to go sightseeing.
Jignesh escaped but raashi could not, arohi insisted her to come and all three went to see the famous landmarks and next stop would be the beach. Arjun was visibly very happy and seeing him like that was making arohi very happy. He was throwing indirect appreciation lines at her. They headed back and at home jignesh was waiting for them.
'we have to go' he told her when raashi got in, 'where?' 'my mom, she is hospitalized, we have to leave tomorrow morning' 'oh no, what happened , is she okay, we shld leave early. Arohi is it okay, their place is not far , I will be back by tomrrow night itself, but we will leave early' she said all that in one breath, her mother in law was old and needed her by her side right now, and she had to go. Arohi understood, she knew the value of relationships and especially times like this. 'should I come with you' 'no it is fine, we will go early and I will come back in the evening' she told her.
the next day by the time arohi woke up, raashi and jignesh had left. It was just arjun and arohi in the house, just for the day. So she thought'..
