In 2019, Fabrice Bracq made a 19 minute short film titled Burqa City, set in the Middle East, where a newlywed man's wife gets exchanged due to identical burqas. He then embarks on a journey to find her. The film is a satirical comedy highlighting the absurdity of a society where women are treated as interchangeable objects rather than unique individuals. It critiques extreme patriarchy, gender-based restrictions, and the loss of identity.

Even the Ravi Kishan police station scene seems heavily inspired. Yet, the makers of Lapata Ladies projected it as an original work.
