Kiran Rao and Amir (The Intellectuals) copy someones work and don't even give them credit. That Ghoongat movie was available on Youtube but Amir got it deleted from there. Kiran is just an average director but now she is getting awards for this movie. These shameless people have the audacity to send this movie for Oscars.

Rabindranath Tagore's 1906 novel was about bride swap.

Biplab Goswami, the writer of LL won screenwriter's 1st or 2nd prize for the script in 2018. That's only info I know about LL.

Are the movie narratives similar? I have not seen Ghoonghat, Burqa City.

And brides swap is not some novel idea, this plot has been done many times (Not seen hindi tv shows but I have read columns criticising ridiculous plots of Indian tv)

Burqa City is a short film and supposedly most of the scenes of LL seems to b similar

Bride swap is a trope in Cinema but there are still differences in the treatment… however, it seems that in this case the similarities incite the idea of ‘heavy inspiration’ without giving credit.

wow so thats why it was rejected for oscar nomination?

Rajkumar Rao's Newton lost out at Oscars as it was found to be a copy of Iranian film called Secret Ballot...but for LL that doesn't seem to b the reason.
