She won two other Filmfares - Best debut for Gangster and Best supporting actress for Fashion (for which she also won the national award). So yeah you can debate whether they were legitimate or not.
She walked away from taking the Best actress award the year when it was certain she would receive the award. The speaks miles about how much she values BW awards.
