Welcome to the weekly analysis thread, where we dissect the heck out of the characters, situations, and the possibilities for the leap! This thread is dedicated to in-depth character and story analysis in this new phase of the show. Let's explore how the show, in its complexity makes us think. We leave the thread open-ended so that we can discuss varied topics with each other in a more informal way, and new thread begins every Sunday evening for ongoing discussions as the week unfolds. If you are interested in this exercise, jump right in!

_____________

Everyone is invited to join as long as they avoid:

1. Moral policing. This thread should be an inclusive and safe space for people to express their views. This is a work of fiction and multiple interpretations only make it a richer experience. If something about the show makes you uncomfortable, be open to the idea that you might be missing the necessary perspective that someone else could provide.

2. Bashing CVs. Criticism is welcome, but should be focused and constructive.

3. Bashing the characters, or pitting them against one another. If you think either the Dixits or the Boses are entirely right, and the other entirely to blame, this is not the thread for you.

And most importantly...

4. BASHING OR PERSONAL INSULTS OF OTHER MEMBERS

This means we accept other people's viewpoints with respect, and don't call them names for not agreeing with us. Either we continue the argument calmly, supported by examples from the show, or we respectfully agree to disagree and leave that discussion alone.

Additionally, if you notice something being discussed on another thread in the forum that you would like to get a perspective on here, please link it in your post and let the other Thread Maker know. This allows for them to come and discuss here if they like and makes us all good neighbours.

Now, I want to put down the thoughts, related to the previous week. The previous week was, quite happening certain things happened which will change the direction in the characters thought process and also have an large affect. Now I will try to put my thoughts related to sona and dev's behaviour.
First I will try to tell how, I see the sona, at this, moment. At this moment she, is, playing the both roles that is bijoy's daugther and soha's mother and some time sona itself. When she accoused dev for the theft she was bijoy's daugther when she fight with dev and team up with the baba, and dada. But when she was, talking about the families acceptence she, was, dev's, sona who was want dev should be cleared and knows this hiding of the, fact can harm in future which is, true. Because more they hide this fact Bose family will find it difficult control the sitution because saurabh is, not having the capability to handle the sitution as, his opinion was, not as, important as the other members.
Now the, problem with the sona, is, as a sona is hurt but don't want to show, it because it will represent her weak from her point of view. To be very honest she is expecting an sorry from the dev and she want that dev sholud openly accecpt his families, fault in there sepration which is, very well known to dev but who also don't accept it. It is not because she want her family is perfect but dev's, family was at fault. Honestly 7 years, back after the check drams she want that dev should stop mami and should ask her to stop. When he don't control mami and give the right to mami to say gate out at that moment he lost sona. And it was the blunder made by dev. She is very deeply hurt and as dev is not showing any regrate for the happed thing so she choose to be baba's daughter who can convince her self was dev was not worth it. And defending her family. Same, applied to dev he want to see the regrate about leaving him but when he was not finding it he choose to defending his mother. But they both people is not underground that they are fault. And asha, is, trying to show the same thing to dev and sona.
Now coming to bijoy and dev conversation it will have an great impact on future as now dev is able to understand bijoy's, pain as, it was vocal and dev has, asked about the bijoy perfection in every relation and the deal which they are doing for their loved ones. It will give a new prospect to dev and he will be very careful abut his families behaviour to words sona and soha. And this will make bijoy litile bit softer to words dev. Now coming to the future sequence where they will remember their marrige and vows this will give them idea that they both are, at fault and if dev says a gueniun sorry to sona her healing process wil get start. Some were this sequence will trigger there introception I realy hope, for that.

Congrats Sam and DQ on another successful week of analysis and new thread. You guys rock!!! 👏 👏 ⭐️

@timbarucha. I agree with some of what you have said but respectfully disagree in regards to Dev asking for apology. Dev asking forgiveness for his mistakes is correct, but then most of Sonakshi's hurt is self inflicted. This is where I feel that the scene of Suhana getting hurt playing blindfold tag with Golu at IN plays a significant role. In that scene when Suhana gets hurt, Ishwari tells her that she will punish the furniture while Dev also said that the furniture was wrong, but tended to her wound anyway. It is very important to note that Suhana was warned not to play that game by Dev, Elena and maamaji. Yet Suhana went with it.

It is very much the same with Sonakshi. She went blindly behind Ishwari without understanding the reason for Ishwari's dislike towards her. Even now Sonakshi thinks that Ishwari hates her because she was a Bengali and came from middle class. What she fails to understand is Ishwari would have still disliked her even if she came from the same community and was rich. She thinks Ishwari accepted Natasha for that reason. Sonakshi failed to notice that Ishwari did dislike Natasha when Ishwari asked her of her opinion regarding Natasha or commented on Dev wearing orange shirt as per Natasha's choice.

Ishwari would still have acted with any girl the way she acted with Sonakshi during her married phase if that girl had a sway over Dev. The dislike towards her socio economic status was from GKB. Sonakshi failed to understand this truth. For GKB it was like professional rivalry where she saw Sonakshi as a gold digger out to get Dev's money. But Ishwari did not think this way nor she had a problem with that. All her insecurity stems from her fear of being left behind by Dev or forgotten by him.

Today if Dev offers unconditional apology to Bijoy or Sonakshi, it is going to make very little difference in healing their wounds. Sonakshi's wounds will only heal when she realizes her misconception and the reason for Ishwari's disapproval while Bijoy can only be at peace when he gets to know that most of Sonakshi's hurt is self inflicted. Just like Suhana was warned not to play blindfolded tag, Sonakshi was advised not to involve herself before understanding the core characters of the family members by Dev, Ishwari and maamaji. Only when Sonakshi realizes her faults and flaws can her healing begin. This self awareness is more important than Dev's apology.

Thanks Sam
@all- please continue to discuss and debate with respect and regard for everyone's thoughts. Not only those who post. There may be silent readers too.

Shaavi- i agree that Dev's apology won't work till sonakshi herself doesn't realise how much damage she did. However, his apology to Bijoy will open the closed channels. They have a great opportunity now and dev should (and I think he will) use it.

Happy analysing

@Shaavi I completely agree what you are, trying to say about sona's healing process but only difference is you are visualizing the big picture and I am seeing the, starting point. Now, let, me explain you are, correct that sona, should, understand that the, ishu's rejection is, not subjected to sona being bangali and middle class that was, true up to the most of the time but at certain situations it was because she is, middle class and, her fear of loosing the power which is has achieve because of dev's wealth. One when the prenup and another is for 5 cros. But in rest of the sitution it was because of the hold she carry on the dev's mind. But only my point is dev itself has never understand the true reason about the ishu's heate related to sona. How sona is expected to understand. Dev and sona will understand or will start there thinking when same sitution will arise because of dev and soha's bond. Like if she knows, he has cookied fish for soha or when soha come to dixit niwas and ishu try to change her and dev will stop her for making any decision about her of try to get rid of sona which is the part of soha and which will make soha unconfertable and dev steps, in as father and she will not be happy with soha also.
In that sitution dev will get surprise that why ishu is having an dislike about soha which was previously not there. In case of sona from the starting itself dev , sona and entire bose family knows about the dislike about the sona . ishu has successfully hide her insecurity under the wrapper of her dislike to sona. And for the complete healing process for sona, and dev they required to understand, this, but to start that process first they required to understand and acknowledged each other's pain which is caused by the failure of this relation who is at fault and the reason's are the bigger picture but it is true that dev has failed to protect sona and their relation from his families negatively. And there is no dought that sona, and dev is, hurt. So for me if dev say sorry that he is acknowledged her pain and hurt where it will help her to become old sona who is, mature, and sensible. And in the same way when sona, will say sorry and acknowledged his lose then dev will be put his gurds, down and able to accept his and his families, mistakes, in front of sona. If they both able to do this there jounery to understand, take a stand for there relation and see the ishu with the bigger picture can be started. I hope I am able to put want I want to say 😊 and about feeling sona and baba, Bose is perfect this, will get fixed when baba Bose some where accect that he is not perfect and give dev a chance and I think very soon it is going to happen.

Hi guys, though I am not posting, I am reading like a ghost :)!
Today I talked to my dad, it seems weird but I really don't have one on one conversations with anyone. But it was regarding an argument my parents had. Today my dad exposed me to a side of a man's emotions, honestly I never even thought about. My dad said my mother is unpredictable, and it is hard to gauge her reactions. The really weird part is what he says he does in an argument. He said, he usually ignores everything and is not afraid to apologize first. But he said, once it reaches a saturation point of hurling insults at him, he said he explodes and forgets everything. He also said, in his time in India (he is 45) the society was much more male chauvinistic , and he was exposed to that. But my he never believed in that, and my dad is actually a feminist. He added in an argument, his ego is hurt and he says a lot of stupid things to my mother. Not only that he said, any blood to blood relation fight is something easily ignored (mother or sibling) but any spouse fight is actually deep and not something forgotten very easily. My father is no mother follower, but he says it hurts a lot when both sides hurl things at each other. He says in those instances, he actually chooses to ignore them both, because, he said he truly does not know what to do.

I know it seems weird, but I actually see that in many cases Dev acted like my dad. I don't agree with everything they do, but this conversation gave me an unique new found respect to the writers and Shaheer's acting, I knew this was realistic but not in this freaky way! :)

Congrats on the new thread! 😳

Just caught up on last week's episodes. Felt like Dev really got to know the Bose family, and vice versa, without the pressures of keeping appearances to either sides.

Dev is trying really hard to fit in, actually took up the role of Son-in-Law, and did jobs around the house just any normal one would. Bijoy hated it, didn't feel like putting a smiling mask on for Soha's sake.

Asha lost her temper and locked the Big Bickering Boys in a room to sort their nonsense out. It was harsh, but it was necessary for them to get their issues sorted, because it was spoiling Sourabh's wedding prep. I like how Asha tells Sonakshi to keep her nose out and toe the line. It is hard to mediate peace between these two.

I wonder who will be the mediator is Dixit House? Elena ? (*snorts*) Baldev ? (probably)

Here, Dev has one and a half persons to deal with who hate him. Bijoy and Sona. But Sonakshi will have Ishwari, ExGKB and Vicky, all out to be rid of her, and the last two have no inclinations to be nice for the sake of Suhana.

Dev speaks like he will have his rules and his way in his house. But when did he ever have his way in his house? Everything was by Ishwari's rules. Will he be able to disagree with his mother when it comes to what Suhana needs or wants?

Sonakshi has least to worry going there. She knows each member in that house for what they are and what motivates them (Perhaps Dev does now too, I want to see that shrewd Dev again!!) .

They will see a Sonakshi who doesn't give a sh*t who they are or what they want, or what respect should be afforded to them. The way I see it, she has issues with Dev , because he was her husband. But she doesn't have any such hungovers about Dev's family.

ExGKB and Vicky are planning to kick Suhana and her mother out, and this will open Dev and Ishwari's eyes to what kind of parasites they really are. I am seriously looking forward to the tables turning next week.

Dev isn't that bad a guy, honestly. But he is a little blind when it comes to his family. Most men are like that with their family, whatever their flaws they don't like it being discussed. But he must know women are the same, even if they are quiet about it.

I just hope Sonakshi keeps her dignity, and doesn't become oversensitive in asserting her rights over Suhana when she is there in Dixit house. I'd hate to see her become traumatized again over there. If I were her, I'd hate to be living in that house again, where i was made to feel so awful. But ExGKB cannot hurt her now, I hope she keeps her shields up and strong.

I liked Bijoy and Dev's drunken conversation. Bijoy got to express his disappointment in seeing his daughter's sadness and failed marriage. Dev too, with newfound fatherly feelings could empathize with his sentiment. That moment when they both cursed the scotch bottle for making them feel something they didn't want, was funny and sad at the same time.

But Bijoy falling ill, and Sona turning on Dev, is a mirror of their first breakup, when Dev blamed Sonakshi for Ishwari's overdose of sleeping tabs.

all in all, I'm looking forward to this week's episodes..
