1. Shaan's voice did seem strained at the high notes in a couple of performances. He had amaaazing high notes in his performances of Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh and Suno Na (wow. just wow.) But we should remember those couple of performances with bad high notes, too (especially the Khushboo hoon main song, where he did seem strained)

2. Classical training is not a must for a composer - Anu Malik and O P Nayyar were not classically trained and they are two of the most successful music directors in Hindi film music. 😃

3. Shaan is not a more gifted singer than Shankar - the ability to sing like Shankar Mahadevan is a gift! I don't think you can develop that talent by JUST practising. Yes, Shaan has a great voice quality, but we can't say that one is a gift and the other is only riyaaz.

But I wholly agree with your main point which is that we shouldn't compare apples and oranges! 👍🏼 Everyone has their forte and they should be compared within that genre, not across genres. But I do think Shaan could improve his high notes (that is within his genre after all) - I have noticed a HUGE improvement in his live performances over the years, and I am sure he will improve even further! 😊

Xobile its not fair people has started saying shaan as not a grt singer,he is not voice gifted,more more its look preety wired..

classical music only can say that singer was god gifted,if shaan is not classical trained u will name him as his voice and singing capablity is not gifted..

Hey common shaan is d one who can sing 'n' number of romantic numbers with lots of feeling and love,his voice and singing d way of song is tourchable to heart,his woh pehlibar,sono na,behti hawa sa ta ,woh many songs cant sing by shankar as shaan..
is classical singers only gifted by god means i dont ve words..

Al r gifted by god with thier own generes,shankar is maha good in singing different type of mainly classical alpas(u can get to know in which shankar good has shown shreya in her medley wer her team presenting shankar mahadevan),singing of shankarji thats i found in MKMM..his pretty song on maa,kalho na ho was amazing.love it..

Shaan is a grt singer in his genres view and he wins lots of music lovers heart in terms of his genre,shankar was a grt classical singer,if shaan was not good in classical means it doesn mean shaan is not a grt singer or not a voice gifted..

shaan ur a amazing grt singer i ve never seen in ur genre types as it may romantic numbers,pop numbers,party numbers,sad numbers,the feeling and love which include in those songs can one and only done by shaan.

Love u shaan...U R D Best ,am a fan of u 4rm those days wen i start hearing ur songs bec of ur singing from 2000 levelseries not bec of shaan d best best captain in MKMM...

wat a singer ur u proved in ur Albums,flim songs,many live shows some songs we attracted with ur amazing voice and singing capablity as "tanhadil,gumsum,bhoolja,lovelogy,many songs as i few mentioned above and i still first love u as a singer,then as a sweet human being,then as a grt anchor,as a good judge,then now as a grt lovely captain amongst all in MKMM...

Shaan wer ever u go u ll remain in one of the best list in those categories..

Am a grt fan of ur singing and voice quality which has god gifted to u and us..
We love ur singing shaan!!!

Shaan U R D BEST in ur Genre and thanks to god that we ve got a grt singer as u in ur tearms of genre..Shaan is one of d grt singer in our music industry..thats it i can say,its my view,..

@Safeena ... See my post with link to download 'Khooshbu Hoon Mein' .... as I told after re-listening too I found this fantabulous ....

And see the reaction of other captains + audience after the song ... it says all ... I'm talking about the particular song in MKMM .... it was very very emotional and fantabulous ... kudos that in such a stage Shaan sang this non-known song in the memory of his father .....

And it's afact that comparing Shaan vs. Shankar as singer is similar to compare Maths vs. History as a subject .... better not compare. One has better voice and another more classical trained + composer but needless to say both are legend in the Industry and everyone respects them ....

Captaincy-wise my point goes to Shaan .....

What a wonderful analysis of both teams! I agree with mostly what you have stated, except about Shaan not being as strong of a singer as Shreya and Shankar, but you are entitled to your own opinion. 😃 I think Shaan sings very well, and his high notes did not sound strained to me on this show, but I might not be the best judge because I'm such a big fan of his that I'll even hear his bad performance as a good one. 😆

I also love Shaan's fairness because even though Anwesha is a very strong singer, he does not just promote her or keep singing himself. He lets everyone sing because he knows that this show is about promoting new talent. I think he realizes how much these contestants struggle, so he doesn't want to steal their thunder. He never referred to Shadab as a Chupa Rustom or was hesitant about letting him sing. He actually wanted him to sing and was happy to hear him! 😊

Mika, Himesh, and Shankar did not do a good job in promoting their Chupa Rustoms. Himesh would always create some sort of drama whenever Munavar would sing, and I don't remember Mika even letting his Chupa Rustom sing more than once. 😕 Even Shankar only let Sanjeev sing twice, and he even got really good marks for his first performance!

I don't mind the judges singing, but they need to not do it to steal the contestant who just sang's thunder! Like, Aishwariya sang her song so well, and she even got good marks, but then Shankar comes and sings and does some beats and taal remix inbetween and walks away with the 10! 😒 I really felt bad for her because she sang her best and did very well, but she got pushed aside after Shankar's performance. I mean, we already know he can sing, and that he's good. Why does he need to compete with these contestants? He should trust his team more! I really respected Himesh in that episode because he did not sing, but he sent out Munavar. 👍🏼

Shaan usually sings when it is utmost necessary for him to, otherwise he tries to let his team get the points, and I really respect him for this. 😃 Also, when he sang, he even came with Anwesha one time, and that was really nice! It was something different and promoted Anwesha. Music directors can hear how her voice sounds with Shaan. 😳 Shreya did this with Abhaas and Aneek too, and that was a good promotion for them as well! 😃 Actually, Aneek sang his besf during that episode only! 😆

And, Shaan enjoys everyone's performance, and his smile and expressions show it all! He truly loves seeing new talent and good singers! Shankar actually does like other singers too, and Shreya does too.

He did get angry in one episode, but I do find his point valid! Neeti did forget her words, but the judges were just siding with Shankar because they're biased towards him. I did like though that Shankar still maintained his cool though. 😊

Overall, if we go on the basis on who has been more fair and just, Shaan wins. Also, Shaan has a really good team, and he's worked with them well. Shadab's singing precision has improved, and Harshit is not so stiff on stage! He really cares about his team, and he gives them the credit they deserve!

@Killer007 I agree with everything in your post except for the behaviour part. Shaan has not been disrespectful to anyone on the show. Whereas Shankar and his team have been disrespectful. Remember the time when Shankar lost against Mohit and pompously said
'Mein mohit ke liye khush hoon. Woh 'bechara' next round ke andar 'aa gaya na!'

Exactly and his facial,body language says lot wen shaan sings or else wen shaan teams performs,shankar seeming too insecure by shaking mouth,creating different faces..but none judges cant go against shankar,shankar always knows,game is on his side ,he always thinks its with me,i know wer to smart,..But his team member speciaaly rahul and then sharib and thn neeti lots of attitute prob and showed disrespectful to judges and many,cant see rahul attitude on semi-final results..

That was just said in a fun mood. I have more examples of Shaan saying things MORE DIRECT. But lets leave it. Don't want to argue.

I love thy sence of humor ....

- When other tell bad to others (except Shaan) - that's fun mood

- When Shaan wins - It's scripted

- When Shaan protest any unfair happenning - He is jealous, direct ..... what not

- When Shaan is made to loose - he deservers it or 'scripted to get sympathy'

- When Shaan team get less marks by one person - Those are respectful people

- When Shaan's team, specially Anwesha gets good marks - Gajji arranged the show to promote Anwesha .. so all judges (like puppet) HAVE to giver her marks ,,,,,

Reading all these posts my logic sence is really getting imbalanced .... I better leave reading and concentrate on our sensational debut and roti plan ....
