Sonakshi Sinha has spoken strongly against the growing culture of online abuse, calling it disturbing and largely unchecked. The actor said social media has made it easy for people to attack actors, critics and public figures without facing consequences.
Sonakshi shared her views during a recent appearance in Mumbai, where she was asked about online harassment. A video of her comments has since gone viral, sparking fresh discussion around cyber safety and accountability.
Addressing the issue directly, Sonakshi said, “Jo cheez jisse mujhe aur dikkat hai is this open attack on people online.” She explained that the problem is no longer limited to film stars and has now expanded to critics and others who share opinions publicly.
She added, “Jo sabke saath hota hai, actors ke saath bhi hota hai, abhi toh critics ke saath hai.” According to her, the constant targeting has created an unhealthy space where abuse is normalised.
Elaborating further, Sonakshi said, “I think that is something that we should all work towards putting an end to and try to figure a solution to that.” She pointed out how helpless people often feel when facing anonymous attacks.

She concluded by saying, “I feel we need to have strict laws to control it and keep a check on it.” Her comments come at a time when several public figures have reported online threats, abuse and sustained trolling.
Away from the controversy, Sonakshi’s personal life has also seen a new chapter. She is married to actor Zaheer Iqbal, whom she dated for seven years before tying the knot. The couple first met at a party hosted by Salman Khan in 2013 and gradually developed a long term relationship. In 2024, they got married in a civil ceremony under the Special Marriage Act at Sonakshi’s Mumbai residence.
On the professional front, Sonakshi made her Telugu cinema debut earlier this year with Jatadhara, a supernatural thriller starring Sudheer Babu. She was also seen in Nikita Roy, which released in theatres on July 18.
