Kareena Kapoor wishes Meghna Gulzar a happy 52nd birthday, calls Daayra one of her most special films

Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar celebrated her 52nd birthday on Saturday, December 13, receiving a heartfelt wish from actor Kareena Kapoor. The birthday greeting was shared on social media and included behind-the-scenes glimpses from the sets of their ongoing project, Daayra.

On Instagram, Kareena posted a carousel of images showing moments from the film’s shoot. The pictures feature Meghna directing Kareena, who attentively follows her instructions. Alongside the post, Kareena wrote, “To sum up in words the feeling I have had working with @meghnagulzar will always be less… Daayra is nothing short of one of my most special films as it marks my first with the kind, gentle, passionate, smart and ever-so-sharp Meghna Gulzar… and to bring to life a subject that is so exciting…”

She added, “To be in your direction and under your guidance has been one of my most fulfilling acts… What an honour to be directed by you, director sahiba. But on this journey, I have discovered such a wonderful soul. On your big day, I wish you nothing but the best and can’t wait for the world to see the genius in our film Daayra. Meghna Gulzar, daughter of screenwriter and lyricist Gulzar and actor Raakhee, began her career assisting her father before making her screenwriting debut with his 1999 film Hu Tu Tu. She later became an independent director with Filhaal… (2002). Though her initial films, including Just Married and Dus Kahaniyaan, had limited commercial success, she gained recognition with Talvar (2015). Her 2018 film Raazi, starring Alia Bhatt, was a major hit, collecting ?195 crore worldwide. Her most recent release was Sam Bahadur in 2024.

Daayra marks Kareena Kapoor’s 68th film and sees Meghna Gulzar collaborating again with Junglee Pictures. The crime drama also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in a key role and explores societal issues related to crime, punishment, and justice. Currently in production, Daayra is expected to release in 2026.

Kareena’s birthday post not only celebrated Meghna but also offered fans an early glimpse into the filmmaker’s latest work, reflecting a mutual respect and creative bond between the actor and director.
