Sid lacks screen presence on top of acting skills. Good looks can only take you so far...and somehow I think KJo realizes it. I am not sure how long KJo is gonna stick around for Sid, especially if his bankruptcy rumors are true.
I was disappointed by ARK in Fitoor trailers, but he is way better than Sid in looks and acting.

Sid is turning out to be Imran Khan part 2. Is this why KJo keeps pushing Sid into all roles origianlly meant for Imran? 😕

I mean I do think Sid is better than Imran but Imran was very endearing in JTYJN just like Sid was in HTP but hasn't really been super impressive in anything since. The problem with Sid IMHO is not in his acting but his lack of a commanding screen presence even with his height and good looks. As I have said ad nauseam, Sid is a total outsider without any support system. He needs to do much better. Shahid stuck around for long with such dismal BO record because he has always been a good actor and critical darling of sorts. Sid doesn't have that. He isn't a woman either who can stick around just for his looks so he really needs to do much better, work harder on his craft. People always divert this conversation when it comes to Sid or ARK because they find them hot but it's a valid conversation that needs to happen.

Hell, he'll probably have most of the scenes in this movie but will do the same happy-go-lucky routine he did in HTP and did it better. Yeah, I need him to do work on his craft and do better because we need fresh blood even if he was average looking.
You know how BW is, outsiders need to be twice as good. Sushant who lost all momentum was so critically acclaimed for Kai Po Che but one flop film totally threw him. Sid is lucky to have KJO's support but he's a snake.

I think we all agree that Sid is not a good actor, he was model, had no inclination towards acting till say he was 19, 20 probably his friends told him u have a nice face and great body why don't u try films as is the norm lol so he took a chance, came to Bombay, got lucky cos Kjo had the hots for him. But I think he was impressive in SOTY, for me he stood out with his nice voice, looks and decent acting even though he was pitted against two industry kids who dreamed of becoming actors since they were kids and took steps in achieving that. In his second film, he was so good he not only stood shoulder to shoulder against Parineeti (a brilliant actor) but overshadowed her in certain scenes with his simple understated acting. He was again decent in EV, nothing exceptional but watchable. I haven't watched brothers but I'm told he was bad, and I agree if majority feels that way. Like I said, he's not a natural, he hasn't done any acting course, so he's acting/performance will be found out in presence of better actors like in case of K&S Ratna, Fawad etc. But he isn't as bad as he's made out to be on this forum. I feel he'll only improve from here, actors like him requires good directors to guide and extract better performances. His good looks are a bonus hope he signs better films and puts in a lot of effort to make a place and prove his detractors wrong.

I think he serves his purpose in films...He looks pretty and his acting is not intolerable like Sonam's can be sometimes 😆

I dont expect to him to ever become an excellent actor... It would be interesting to see how he survives in BW being a male outsider with limited skills...I think he is playing safe right now by being part of multistarrers so that if the movie fails the blame wont directly fall on his shoulders...

What is in his favor is his looks, his voice, and his body.

what are his flaws are his lack of talent whatsoever, charisma, certain drive to prove himself. He also in not a headline maker a la Sonam Kapoor, Katrina etc..

Having said that, Sid is not the first wooden actor.. before him there were Saif, Ajay Devgan, Sanjay dutt. All took a long time to come out of their shell.. once they opened up we had Omkara, , Zakhm, sajan,Vaastav.. Sid has to find a movie that will click for him, help him come out of his shell... Since he has K Jo as his benefactor, m sure chances will not run out for him.

I don't really think Sid is wooden, he just has a comfort zone he frequents. As someone said, he kinda goes blank when he's not given dialogues which is something that needs to be worked on. Also, everyone you mentioned were proper star kids and Ajay has always been a fabulous actor since the very beginning of his career so it's kind of unfair to put him under the same category as other wooden actors lmao. Yeah, I guess we all can agree that he needs to work hard to improve his acting. KJO is a snake anyway, if he can dump Bebo, he is nobody's.

Well, I haven't really been ever impressed with Sid. His best acting wise is for sure HTP-- a subtle, understated type of performance...the sort Imran was better in ...JTYJN, EMAET. IMHO, these two are more or less on the same level. Maybe Sid is better looking.

SOTY, I though Sid was given the best role, but Varun's screen presence made him stand out just a little bit more. That being said, I won't judge anyone on SOTY..there was no scope for anyone in that movie. In EV, some scenes were plain embarrassing..there's one that's superimposed with AB Sr 's angry young man in the back..it might have been in the jail I am not sure...that movie was so bad I have erased most memories of it. But in EV, there was somebody else who probably won the worst acting of the year tag -- Shraddha. I never watched Brothers -- the trailer was enough.

Yes, but I think over the last 4 years or so KJo has done as much for Sid as any star kid's parents do for their kids. Giving him films, getting his friends to give films, getting others thrown out of films so Sid can do them, offering to co-produce in exchange for Sid's presence, etc. You will never hear of any such stories out of YRF for their talents...or others..Sallu does this for his people. Now we can argue about better mentor, etc..but I think KJo has gone over and beyond in helping Sid out so far. Yes, he's a snake and may not stick around so Sid does have to improve fast...and yes, he's not a girl, who can kinda get away with this..but even the pretty girls who last have something to them.

Shahid is hardly a critical darling though...that is Ranbir 😆 Shahid was always kinda underrated IMHO, even with critics. I think he managed to stick around because he is a good actor and probably his high-profile relationships kept him in the news.

Lol did someone just compare Ajay with Sid 😆 he is a brilliant actor right from his first film, not a fan of his but not gonna deny him that. His acting, screen presence, delivery is what made him a great actor/star otherwise with such avg looks he wouldn't have survived 5 films. One actor though Sid can look up as role model is Akki, he was terrible in his first 20 odd films, I cringe watching his early 90s films but look at him now, he is one of the finest actors we have, not only in terms of performance but good choice in scripts as well. However the competition is so huge now, earlier actors could survive flops, bad acting in initial few yrs and learn the rope through trial and error, now one is written off just after 1 or 2 flops with microscopic analysis on each and every facial expression.

It's Dharma. I don't even know if I should judge him much because he is relegated to playing off other characters and is mostly the second fiddle. He has a good screen presence and has certain salable charm to him. He cannot improve till he moves out from the Dharma rut.
HTP was good but then his character in contrast to PC Jr's was more endearing which again plays a big role in selling the actor. EV was all about RH more than Sid ( haven't watched it but seemed RH had a author backed role). And Sid seems to be doing Imran's roles mostly..which is very limiting for any actor looking for growth .

5 films- most of them were bad films and he had not much room in terms of character. I would give him 2 more chances OUTSIDE Dharma to write him off yet.

He might not have natural talent but then he ticks boxes of a Movie Star, improving his craft and picking right roles is all he needs to focus on. But I don't know if he tries to go outside Dharma.

I didn't feel he was the weaker link here..Aalia bored me more. Rest, Fawad, Ratna and Rajat were killing it..beyond and Sid as usual was playing off the drama.

Yeah, I agree with the KJO bit. KJO has indeed gone above and beyond with Sid, especially since he is really nothing special acting-wise so far. Take Tahir for example, he's easily one of the finest new actors around but is he getting any opportunities? So yeah I do agree. I like Sid and find him kinda endearing offscreen so I am probably biased when it comes to him lmao. But since EV, I have been increasingly disappointed because he doesn't do anything his script doesn't tell him to. Hell, he cannot even emote immediately enough either. He is blank in the in-between spaces of dialogue which bugs me a lot.
I mean look, people are already telling me I am over-analyzing, "this forum is too harsh on Sid" etc but the fact is that it's not his first movie. It's his fifth. Arjun Kapoor who is so ridiculed in this forum also had a standout moment like Chokra Jawan in his repertoire while Sid continues to do a "decent enough" job in every movie. I guess it's enough for other people who find him hot but not for me.
