Yeah, I agree with the KJO bit. KJO has indeed gone above and beyond with Sid, especially since he is really nothing special acting-wise so far. Take Tahir for example, he's easily one of the finest new actors around but is he getting any opportunities? So yeah I do agree. I like Sid and find him kinda endearing offscreen so I am probably biased when it comes to him lmao. But since EV, I have been increasingly disappointed because he doesn't do anything his script doesn't tell him to. Hell, he cannot even emote immediately enough either. He is blank in the in-between spaces of dialogue which bugs me a lot.
I mean look, people are already telling me I am over-analyzing, "this forum is too harsh on Sid" etc but the fact is that it's not his first movie. It's his fifth. Arjun Kapoor who is so ridiculed in this forum also had a standout moment like Chokra Jawan in his repertoire while Sid continues to do a "decent enough" job in every movie. I guess it's enough for other people who find him hot but not for me.

Well all fans ask for more time for their favs. It's not limited to Sid fans. I personally think most of these younger guys have a very long way to go. They are all hits and misses...I guess it's just that others have better 'hits' in terms of acting than Sid. But yes I think it's valid to wonder how much time and how many movies one needs to improve? I don't really expect anything from Sid as I've never been impressed with anything other than his looks so I don't really care. He is awkward, lacks a commanding screen presence, can't really dance, doesn't really play the 'perception' game well either like DP does ...I dont really think he has the it factor necessary to make it. But you never know. They only really need one movie..

I think Sid looks to be in a much better position in K&S than in Brothers or EV. I mean, for one, he actually HAS dialogues. I have a bit of an issue when people mention that he's an outsider so he'll take time to adjust - I somehow feel like a lot of people complain that the industry is so riddled with nepotism and that chances are being taken away from brilliant outsiders but if we look at Sid, I don't think he is that supremely talented at all. I'd much prefer his contemporary industry kids - Ranbir, Varun even Arjun for that matter.

Sid's biggest asset is his looks and I do believe he's been presented well in the K&S trailer. As much as I disliked almost everything in HTP, that is Sid's strongest performance which isn't saying much. And yeah, as someone mentioned - there's always someone better or captivating than him which is why he doesn't shine through as much. He has been given opportunities time after time and has that backing from KJo - like you, I would've liked to see something different from him but I wouldn't underestimate the guy - A film with Katrina is up next, let's see whether he can redeem himself. I think why people feel like he's getting redundant is because he did EV and Brothers back to back which he himself said was risky because the characters had the same tone. And his pitch in K&S is giving HTP vibes.

The more important question is
Why does Ratna Shah keep doing slight variations of the same role? Is she stuck in the Irrfan Khan zone as well?

I feel Sid is a very subtle and natural actor. He doesn't over emote or under emote. He acts like a regular guy would do in real life. Over the top, masala movies won't suit me but more realistic movies and rom coms would be his forte.

@SG: I actually found Dhawan irritating in SOTY. He's a good actor, Badlapur proved that, but I always felt Sid has more potential & is far more endearing onscreen than Dhawan... He needs to pull his socks up. I would've compared him to AK but AK is actually a very good actor even in his tacky 90s movies you can't dismiss hos
Comedic talent & screen presence--- Sid is considered equally good-looking yet I agree with you completely. He inspires indifference which is one of the worst feelings a male lead should inspire--- So DP it is. He just needs to make sure KJo is as besotted by him for the next few years as he is today, lol, work on his action skills & use that gorgeously deep voice of his to his advantage & he should be successful.

I don't think that expression has been used in 5/6 years 😆😆

It is very 2006-2009 esque . Like Energy drinks or flare jeans 😆😆

I liked him in HTP, I personally find his looks slightly overrated but he's slowly grown on me. And it's true, he's worked in films where the other actor seems to do better than him. But then HTP I liked him more than Parineeti sometimes she went OTT, I personally enjoyed Brothers as well and he was okay, again he needs tweaking a bit.

Great topic. I liked him in HTP. Kapoor & sons trailer he is okay, but he doesn't stand out. He needs to work on his screen presence and playing "the good guy" won't necessarily take his career to the next level. Good guys are boring to watch and even more boring when played by someone lacking in charisma. He should opt for a morally grey, edgy, dark role. Challenge and surprise the public. At the moment he is invisible same role in every movie. Looks can only get you so far. If he wants stardom he needs to surprise the public in a good way.
