HTP was good but then his character in contrast to PC Jr's was more endearing which again plays a big role in selling the actor. EV was all about RH more than Sid ( haven't watched it but seemed RH had a author backed role). And Sid seems to be doing Imran's roles mostly..which is very limiting for any actor looking for growth .

5 films- most of them were bad films and he had not much room in terms of character. I would give him 2 more chances OUTSIDE Dharma to write him off yet.

He might not have natural talent but then he ticks boxes of a Movie Star, improving his craft and picking right roles is all he needs to focus on. But I don't know if he tries to go outside Dharma.

I didn't feel he was the weaker link here..Aalia bored me more. Rest, Fawad, Ratna and Rajat were killing it..beyond and Sid as usual was playing off the drama.

I have constantly said Sid wasn't bad in this trailer, Idk why people are saying the same thing repeatedly. It's a discussion of him being stuck within an emotive rut, not him being terrible. I am not exactly writing him off or anything, I believe he needs to work really hard to improve because he is not exactly a news headliner material either. Also, he has worked with Balaji, not just Dharma. Now you could say KJO made Ekta work with Sid but that's the problem. Unless he proves how good an actor he is or can be, no production house will randomly start offering him movies unless KJO pushed them. If he doesn't prove himself within Dharma, he cannot move beyond Dharma. Ranveer moves so easily between Production Houses even without being a star-kid is because he was so critically acclaimed for Band Baaja Baraat while being in YRF.

SG- I do agree with what you are saying but I am yet to see a movie sold around his character..all I see is him being given goody roles or playing second fiddle to other characters. You mentioned BBB which was not only a superior movie but had an author backed role for Ranveer to perform , he too hams it when he is made to do Kill Dill or Gunday.
Sid has a lot to improve but if he continues to play Imran-type roles he will fade away. I have only watched his one movie and rest be songs/trailers..nor to I find him exceptionally good looking but i fail to recall him in any overall good movie and the bad ones- he wasn't the worse performance. Thats says a lot about the movies he is doing.

Because he is not ready to let go of 'looking pretty all the time'. The moment he starts to not care how he is looking at every single moment on screen/camera he might start to improve.

I haven't watched any of his movies but I did watch the trailer and I was shocked. I thought the same thing you are asking "Why isn't Sid improving?". Since this is his 5th movie, I was expecting him to show some acting but I didn't see any. Nothing to compare to as I haven't watched any of his earlier works but this should look like he has learned something.

I'll use Ranveer as an example: I have only watched Band Baaja Baraat and then watched the trailer of Bajirao Mastani and I thought "wow, what an improvement". Not in the case of Sid M. The moment he actually forgets himself and sees the character for the character, he'll improve. He is still too conscious of the camera and if he is looking good while saying his lines.

@Genie- Yeah, that's exactly my problem with him. He is neither the best, nor the worst. He is in the Imran Khan zone of being harmless enough to be praised for looks and considered "decent enough" for acting. Indifference is actually worse than outright dislike IMHO. Sid's acting often inspires indifference which is my issue here.
Yeah, I do agree about good roles and all but even Arjun Kapoor was fairly great in such a pointless drama like Ishaqzaade. My argument was against your point regarding Sid needs a non-Dharma movie. Yes he definitely does but if he doesn't prove himself within Dharma, how will he get one? I am probably being too harsh but come on, it's not his third or fourth movie anymore.

My problem is exactly this. It's not that "Sid is a bad actor". I don't think he's a bad actor by any means. He is actually rather endearing onscreen. But the problem is why is he not getting any better? Why isn't he showing something even a bit special, a spark, anything beyond what the script requires him to do? It's probably what you pointed out, his background as a model makes him too camera conscious in a way. Deepika used to be the same. I hope he's the male Deepika and improves a lot even though he's not exactly a natural performer.

I always thought Sid had more potential than Dhawan esp after watching SOTY. Unpopular opinion but I still stick with it. I actually liked him in EV & he acted well esp because it was an unconventional role & choice for such a commercial actor with THE most glamorous movies making mentor, KJo. But RD stole the show from him. I think Sid's problem is that while he is improving, he somehow is always paired with actors who put in particularly good performances in those films (RD, PC Jr or very possibly, Fawad now) or actors who deliver very well both on the actors + looks front--- AK in Brothers & Fawad in K & S.

BR]

It's strange but for an actor who is very good-looking, decently talented with potential & superbly strong backing from Bw's power players (KJo) he doesn't seem to be achieving that position that many predicted for him a couple of years ago.

I still have a feeling that he will be a successful mid-level actor, known for his looks as much as his acting, in a few years. For what it's worth, I found him very watchable in HTP & thought he put in a nice & effective performance , more than PC Jr who was good but over-rated in the movie.

I don't know why I wrote an essay for Sid M because I don't love him or dislike him enough, lol, but how good was Fawad in the trailer?! More of him, much more, in BW pls. <3

P. S. I forgot to add- He has screen presence but a bland one. He has potential to over-shadow his co-actors but ends up being over-shadowed by them. It's really
Strange! He's not Shraddha Kapoor degree of invisibility on-screen, but is is his
Own special brand of wallpaper. 😆 Still, I would love to see
Him succeed.

Who is a snake? KJo or Sid M? KJo is a very shrewd albeit very shallow businessman & if it's the latter, I agree! 😉

^^ Lol I thought the same thing. People are saying that they were more impressed with Varun but I vastly preferred Sid in SOTY and believed he has much more potential than Varun. I don't know if I feel the same anymore to be very honest.
But yeah, it's probably the fact that his movies haven't been that good and he has been overwhelmed in a sense by his co-stars. I kinda agree with your prediction regarding Sid so far unless he pulls a Deepika. He seems way too low-key to ever become a media-darling so that probably won't happen lmao. Deepika was so average and boring in the beginning but always played the media well to remain relevant long enough for making a comeback with Cocktail. I hope Sid follows the same pattern career wise.
FK is a good actor, I am hardly surprised. The movie needs to be good rather than individual acting anyway. Yeah, Sid's screen presence is surprisingly bland for an attractive dude.
