Got some really relevant info about Sharad Navratri (Sep-Oct), relevant to Ramayan.

Apparently, it is Ramji who changed the main Navrathri from March-April to Sep-Oct-Nov. He invoked Durga Maa during the month of Ashwin (Sep-Oct-Nov) before the war with Ravan. Since Durga Maa was invoked during an ultimely month this Navrathri is also called Akal Bhodhon.

Hey, I did not know that the main Navrathri that all of us celebrate in Sep-Oct-Nov was a tradition started by Ramji himself. ⭐️ to Ramji.

The Vasanth navrathri is celebrated the same way in March-April with prayers to Maa Durga and fasting. In Punjab and Haryana young girls are honored on the 8th day because they represent Durga maa. The little girls are apparently called Kanjaks. Vasanth Navrathri is celebrated at the Vaishno Devi temple in a grand manner. This Navrathri is also called Chaitra navratras or Basant (spring) Navrathri. This is also called Ram Navrathri because it comes close to or coincides with Ram Navami

Wow! Thank you so much Mandodari ji. I never knew these facts at all. In the South, the only legends available are the tales of Durga and the three godesses (Parvati, Laksmi and Saraswati), story of Kanyakumari (though I don't know if this is included with the stories of Navaratri).
I had always thought that it was because of Durga Mata slaying the demons and the leelas of the three goddesses was the reason that Navratri was celebrated.
Thanks again for the precious information. 😃😃😃

Hey Thanku so much for these info of Navaratri. seriously till now, Navaratri for me was in Sep-Oct, the Kolu, and SUNDAL above all.......😉😊😆 Ofcourse the stories of Durga Ma too.
But then the other 2 Navaratris are gr8 info. Now it strikes me, in this serial too...Kaikeyi is shown performing the Chaitra maas vrat when Ram & Sita come to inform her of Ram's coronation....
And Ram invoking Durga maa before the war is also shown.... Wow, Ramayan gave rise to all these festivals....
I defnitely take pride in being a part of such a great country, tradition and so much human values and above all a way of life.

Hey friends,

I have an additional info. on Navaratri, just found it on the net....

Navratri is celebrated four times a year during the first nine days of the month:-
Chaitra (March/April) for spiritual knowledge,
Ashad (June/July) for education,
Asoo/Sharad (September/October) for relief from suffering and
Maha/Magha (January/February) for health.
I am guessing by the beginning of the month, they mean Amavasya....

Quick question - what was the period in history that Kamban lived/wrote his Ramayan? I know that Tulsidas wrote his in the 16th century, but does anyone know when the various versions of the Ramayan (other than Valmiki's) were written?

Found this info on internet

Ramcharitmanas written by Tulsidas in the 16th century is the Ramayana version popular in North India.

In Punjab, it is the Ramavatara written in 17th century by Guru Gobind Singh.

In Gujarat, it is the Tulsi-krita Ramayana a Gujarati adaptation of Tulisdas Ramayana in 17th century by poet Premanand.

In Maharashtra, it is the Marathi Bhavartha Ramayana written by Eknath in the 16th century. There is also reference of Ramayana being translated into old Marathi during the 12th or 13th century.

In Assam, it is the Assamese Katha Ramayana or Kotha Ramayana in 15th century by Madhava Kandali.

In Bengal, it is the Bengali Krittivas Ramayan written by poet Krittivas in 15th century.

In Orissa, it is the Oriya Balramadasa Ramayana was adapted by Balarama Das in the 16th century.

In Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Ramayan is known as Sri Ranganatha Ramayana and was adapted by Buddha Reddy.

In Karnataka, it is Kannada versions of the Ramayan – the Kumudendu Ramayana (Jain version) in 13th century and the Kumara-Valmiki Torave Ramayana in 16th century. There is another one titled Ramachandra Charita Purana written by Nagachandra during the 13th century.

In Tamil Nadu, it is the most popular Tamil Kamba Ramayana written by poet Kamban in the 12th century.

In Kerala, it is the Malayalam Adhyatma Ramayanam Kilipattu written by Thunchaththu Ezhuthachan in the 16th century.

Hope this answers your question.
