Navaratri/Dussehra comes during Sep-Oct.
And Ram Navami comes in April typically around Apr 20th.
And as per Valmiki Ramayan, Rama's birth date inferred is 10th Jan 5114 BC. There is a difference of 100 days in this 10th Jan - 20th Apr.
This is accounted as follows based on Brihad Samhita and the Precession of Equinox:
Varahamihira in his Brihad Samhita states that the retrogade motion of the Vernal Equinox is 1 deg. for every 72 years, ie 1 day slide in every 72 years.
Taking this in consideration as well as the concept of precession of equinox
Slide of 100 days at the rate of 72 years elapse for 1 day of slide gives 7200 years of elapse time
The difference between 5114 BCE and present is 7123 years which is getting close to 7200 years.

Navratri comes twice a year, in spring (march-april) and in autum (sep-oct).
Dushera is celebrated on the 10th day after Navratri in Sep-oct.
Ram Navmi is celebrated on the 10th day after th 9th Navratri in March-April.
Please correct me if its wrong.

It does, somewhat, although I find it hard to regard Manthara's statements as factual sourcing. Nonetheless, if you know Sanskrit, I'm convinced that you're right that Rama doesn't refer to Lakshman as the eldest of the 3.

Saw this just now.....
Yes Manthara's words are also credible because its written by Bramharshi Valmiki. He is a truth-percieved sage-poet and whatever he has written is true ( This is what Lav and Kush tell Rama ,in the assembly when he demands that Sita should be present in the assembly for taking oath)
No matter even its said by Mantahara, this verse is credible. Or else the whole Ramayana by Valmiki or anyone else is not credible then because anybody can write anything.

Just because Valmiki's words are credible doesn't imply that all his subjects were necessarily paragons of truth. For instance, when Shurpanakha told Ravan about her run-in with Lakshman, she outright lied when she said she was trying to get Sita for Ravan. Now, just because Valmiki quotes Shurpanakha as having said it doesn't make it true.

Similarly, in 2-8-5, Manthara also says that Rama has a fear of Bharat since he has equal rights over the kingdom. Does that imply that Rama had a fear of Bharat, since Valmiki wrote it? Or doesn't the fact that it came out of the mouth of a sly conniver make it an out & out falsehood? And if Manthara is known to lie about this, on what basis does one assume that she's being truthful about something else?

I didn't know Navaratri comes twice a year. It is normally the time in Sep-Oct ie close to a month before Diwali.
I do not know if people in any part of India celebrate Navaratri in March-April.
If anyone can clarify this.....thanks in advance...

We cannot pick up on each and everything, each character is right in its own way, from his/her own POV .Maybe Manthara felt like that. Also if we go on picking up what each of them said , then even Ram and Sita too can't escape criticism. If Manthara felt that Ram is insecure about Bharat then its her opinion, thats what Valmiki writes ; she is provocating Kaikeyi in that chapter so might be that she uttered false words too to convince Kaikeyi...

That doesn't mean each and every word from Manthara's mouth is false . What makes me agree with that the previous verse which I quoted(about Manthara) is: Kaikeyi so confidently claims that Bharat should be heir apparent instead of Ram because indeed he was born in proximity to Rama's time of birth and Lakshman and Shatrughna were born much later. The custom among Ikshvakus was that only the first born will inherit the throne not the second or those who are born later, only in cases like death and exile of first born (because of serious crimes, which doesn't apply to Ram) the second born son inherits the throne. Based on Manthara's claims to which Kaikeyi agrees and gets Ram exiled.

All the words of Manthara are not true but all of them aren't false either.😳

Vibs, about Gandamadan hills, it is apparently in Rameshwaram. According to this website, that has information on Tamilnadu temples the Gandamadan hills is the highest point in Rameshwaram. There is an impression of a footprint which is said to be Ramji's footprint. Also, the Ramanathaswami temple is said to house the Shiv Ling worshipped by Ramji. From the seaside one can also see boulders going into the ocean, the beginning of Sethu.

Here is the website:

Yes, Navarathri comes three times a year.

1. March-April: Vasanth Navrathri is celebrated in the northern part of India.
2. July-August: Ashada navrathri is celebrated at this time in states like Himalchal Pradesh.
3. Sept-Oct: Sharad Navrathri is the most popular Navrathri and is celebrated all over India.
