India cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal’s wedding has turned into a social media storm after the sudden postponement of the ceremony. While the couple has not issued any formal statement, the internet has been flooded with speculation, especially around Mary D’Costa, whose name surfaced after screenshots of flirty chats between her and Palash began circulating online. The images, reportedly posted by D’Costa on Reddit, spread quickly and sparked claims that her involvement had played a role in the couple’s strained wedding plans.
Amid the growing noise, D’Costa stepped forward on Instagram to clarify her side. She stated that her interaction with Palash was brief, limited to a one month window between April 29 and May 30, 2025. She stressed that she never met him in person and had no romantic connection with him. According to her, she had already revealed the chats months ago in July, but the matter went unnoticed because very few people recognised Palash at that time.

Many had assumed she was a choreographer linked to the wedding events, which she denied firmly. She wrote, “First, the exchange of chats happened between April 29th and May 30th 2025, so the contact lasted for only one month. I want to make it absolutely clear that I never met him and I never got involved with him in any way.” She added that people misunderstood who she was. “I want to clarify, I am not the choreographer, and I am not the person he cheated with,” her post read, urging people not to jump to conclusions.
While the online discussion grew louder, the original reason behind the postponed wedding was quite different. The ceremony, planned for November 23 in Sangli, was put on hold after Smriti’s father became seriously unwell and had to be hospitalised. Soon after, Smriti deleted all wedding-related posts from her Instagram profile, leading many to believe there was more to the story. Her close friends, including teammate Jemimah Rodrigues, also removed pre-wedding photos.
Palash, meanwhile, was admitted to hospital due to stress and exhaustion. His cousin Neeti Tak appealed to people to stop judging him, saying he was in a fragile state and needed prayers, not speculation.
As both sides try to clarify their positions, the rumours continue to grow, leaving many waiting for an official statement from the couple.
