I cant describe in words just how much i love this ss and its only the second chapter.

She smiled at the little cute boy hugging her brushing off her thoughts. He finally managed to get it right well partly considering his speech is impaired, she had grown especially close to him, he was the smallest of all kids an adorable chubby little guy. Fatty as he was lovingly called.

She remembered how Ms Braganza had told her his father had left him there only a few months old calling him an unnecessary mistake. Maya was appalled to hear that. The father paid the centre handsomely every month to keep his mistake a secret, at first Ms Braganza refused to take to the money from such a cold hearted monster but he was not a man to refuse or cross. She accepted it and like clockwork it came through every month. When maya looked at the little boy she saw an angel, naughty sweet little angel. His speech had improved a lot ever since maya had been there and he would often throw a tantrum if she couldnt make it to feed him or tell him a story.

Yes this was her home now she reflected while walking in between them in the playground

Its been 1 year since she left that morning never to return. It was not easy for her not knowing how to get around or to stay hidden knowing he would be looking for her but she managed to do it when meeting Ms Braganza who brought her to the centre. Maya offered to be a cleaner in return for a place to live and that no one should know anything about her but her compassion and gentle caring ways was noticed by Ms Braganza who preferred her with the kids and not as a cleaner. She grew very fond and protective of Maya and could see she was keeping a secret that was not easy for her. Here she was not known as maya but mona'..

Maya kept thinking about jai and her baba. While she had written to them informing them she was well and safe, she left no forwarding address . She knew her baba brings dadi and aunty komal to the temple every week, and that's how she got to meet him, she dressed as a muslim women in burqah and would wait at the vendors selling outside just to get a glimpse of him.

This was jai's final semester at boarding school and maya knew she had to find some way to get her back here, but how she had no money. She didn't want to ask Ms Braganza the lady that had taken her in as her own. She had to wait for Friday to meet her baba and this time she had to find a way to speak to him'..

She opened her eyes instantly looking around realizing it was a dream'. A dream that consumes her everyday. It felt so real talking to him except she couldn't see him'.She didn't realise just how difficult it would be to stay away from him, it ate her very soul knowing what he must be going through. He cut the call taking his glass and slamming it against the wall in anger.

He closed his eyes trying to calm himself' Where are you maya? WHY??

Brijraj had witnessed the whole thing, it was a daily constant thing with veer. He never stopped looking for her. Brijraj knew how much he loved her, despite what others might say. He truly, madly and deeply loved maya like no man ever will. He wished things could have turned out differently but he knew maya would never be accepted as veers choice and Saab was not a man you cross. His maya was not destined to be with the man she loves. He walked in slowly kneeling down to clean the glass pieces on the floor.

'Chote Saab you have to stop doing this to yourself, she is gone and its for the best'

Veer looked at him instantly walking towards him

'Kaka I cant believe you are telling me this' you know maya is my '.

'Chote Saab you have to move on, your engagement is in 2 days and wedding in a weeks time' Bari saab will not like this' you know very well the circumstances of this alliance with the malhotra's.

Veer knew very well. This marriage is a somewhat peace treaty by the two notoriously famous business men (one being veers dad and the other being Mr AK Malhotra). They use a clean business image to hide their underhanded black market dealings in drugs and weapons with many corrupt politicians backing them up and cleaning up after their messes. By Malhotra's and Singhs merging the power and control increases tenfold and together they can bring down many of their enemies and in turn put an end to the ongoing blood bath game they play trying to get each other back'.

Brij touched his shoulder sqeezing it gently before turning around and leaving veer alone to reflect in his thoughts.

She missed him every day despite her trying not to think about him. She missed hearing his voice, looking into his eyes, feeling his arms around her, him loving her'. Its true she was incomplete without him. She was his Maya' and him ' her Veer. She knew he would never forgive her for leaving him and apart of her will never forgive herself for hurting him like that.

Veer I am sorry'.. I know you don't understand

Just know that you need to move on and be happy and that's when I will be happy

It was a really busy morning at the centre as Ms Braganza's annual charity fundraiser for the centre was to take place later that evening. Maya was busy helping with arrangements and set up as well as running around with the kids who needed to be groomed and well presented for the guests later. They had been rehearsing their poems and dances with the help of all the care givers who were so proud looking at them.

Maya smiled through tears as she watched them. Their pure gentle nature' if only people took the time to understand and love them instead of point fingers at them when out in public.

Ms Braganza had gifted maya with a beautiful white salwaar to use at the fundraiser that evening. Maya was hesitant not wanting to be out in public but after much insistance from Ms Braganza and the other care givers and teachers she agreed. She was going through the guest list when she was called away'..

'Maya please you have to step out of hiding, I don't know why a beautiful young girl like you wants to be kept a secret and I am not going to ask you. All I know is that you have done a lot for this centre and the kids and we all want to see you happy. Tonight just try to enjoy and have a good time promise me you will'

Maya hesistantly smiled while she was relieved that there was not going to be any media or press to cover this fundraiser. She knew she was being over silly, what on earth would he be doing at a fundraiser for kids with special needs?? She shook her head brushing away her thoughts as little fatty pulled her dupatta'

Maya looked at him trying to understand him

'dee di' par..ri'

She smiled realizing what he said picking him up into her embrace' ' you think didi looks like a pari fatty?

He nodded smiling playing with her thin chain' dee di' par..ri'

Maya looked at him point at rahul.. who was walking towards them as she placed fatty down not realizing he pulled her chain out and made his way towards the other kids.

'Really you like an angel today' It's the first time I am seeing your hair open'

Maya looked away feeling uncomfortable on hearing that'. Recalling veers voice' I love your hair let loose

Rahul had been a teacher at the centre for the past 5 years, he came from a fairly well off family but after losing his parents and only brother in a car accident, he devoted all his time and love to the centre. He and mona had become good friends and ms bruganza always felt like they made the pefect couple'. Rahul seemed to like mona a lot, his eyes said what his lips didnt

Unnathi sighed as she applied sindoor to her forehead. She kept asking herself why was she even doing it. She was married 10 months to the day but no one knew just want she was living with. Today she was at her family home after 6 months on pretence of veers engagement that was the only way to get away for a little while from her monster of a husband. Raj was her fathers choice as he dealt in the same under handed deals like him and raj had pursued her relentlessly' she was wrong to think he loved her. He was a savage beast who hit and demeaned her daily. She was just his ticket to be apart of her brothers and fathers deals and get them back' she couldn't tell anyone about this for fear of losing her brothers and father. Veer was incredibley protective of her and would frequently check in on her, finally after a while of bloodshed things had quietened down for her family with veers merger of a wedding. There was no way she was going to cause any further problem and let things get really ugly.

'Are you ready beta?'

Komal voice snapped her out of her thoughts

'Haan mom, chale'

She walked passed komal and dadi who were both could see she was not herself and had lost a terrible amount of weight.

The fundraiser was quite a success and received many generous sponsors who were so in amazed at the childrens talent. It brought tears to many eyes, unnathi was among them smiling genuinely through tears as she watched the kids. She felt so good being amongst them and contributing towards a worthy and truly fulfilling cause. Her mobile rang continuously but she had switched it to silent knowing full well he would be checking in on her repeatedly. She walked away needing a break from the high society clan that were swarming all around her mother and dadi. She didn't want to stand and pretend to be happy when they marveled at her sparkling diamond ring' or designer saree.. surely her husband treats her like a queen. She closed her eyes as tears poured out''.if they only knew

Brijraj had just gone into his room at the servant quarters, when a voice called his attention'.It sounded like jai' he knew it couldn't be as she was overseas and its just his mind playing games. He missed his girls and couldn't wait for them to all be together again'.

This time the voice was clearer and stood right in front of him, with tears rolling down her cheeks.

'Jai..

He hugged her tightly as she buried her head on his chest. He really did miss her, she had lost so much of weight but looked as beautiful as ever. He eventually broke the hug realizing that she really was here and how did she get back, worried what new saab had now planned.

'Beta how did you get here? And why didn't you tell me'that

'Baba didi kaha hai?'

Brijraj looked at her as she looked around for her sister

'Baba meh tumse baath kar rahe hoon, didi kaha hai?

Veer watched the father and daughter hug as he walked away remembering how happy maya would be to have her sister back' yes it was him that had brought her back knowing that her exams are over and he also couldn't see how alone and lost kaka was ever since maya had gone. His thoughts were disturbed by his phone ringing''.

'Where is the driver?'

'I am on my way, dadi will be just fine'

Unnathi opened her eyes as she felt small hands wiping her tears, she turned to look at the adorable chubby boy who was staring at her shaking his head trying to tell her not to cry.

'RO'rohn' rohna nahi pleaaajjj' pleeejjj'

She smiled as she pinched his cheek, he really was quite something

' Nahi meh bilkul nahi rohloongi' '

She wiped away her face before turning her full attention to him who was fascinated by some chain in his hand.

'Waise tum yaha kya kar rahe hoon? naam kya hai tumara'

'Aaa' aaatdhi.. AAATHII''

'Oh Tumara naam adhi hai?'

He shook his head repeatedly telling her no

'aaathdi' aaath

Maya had finally spotted him sitting on the bench next to a women, she called for him

' Fattyy

He smiled as looked passed unnathi towards maya and then back at unnathi

'Oh oh toh tumara naam fatty hai''

He smiled and jumped off the bench kissing her cheek softly before running towards maya

'Paa'ri' di di'

Dadi was sure she had seen her walking past her as she stood up to call her, she turned to look at komal who was distracted talking to the other ladies and unnathi was no where to be seen. She decided to find maya on her own

Unnathi stood up smiling after watching fatty run to the lady and him disappear into the marquee when she heard the chain drop as she picked it up and decided to find fatty and give it back. She headed back inside and looked around for him when she heard commotion and looked to see dadi on the ground unconscious'.

'Dadi''. She screamed running towards her

'Bhaiya how did this happen?'

Unnathi was crying looking at her dadi as people crowded around them. Rahul was the first one to see dadi fall as she screamed out some name. Veer was about to pick her up when rahul asked him not to as the ambulance were on the way and he shouldn't risk injuring her further by trying to move her.

'Aap kaha thi choti? Why did you leave dadi alone' aur ma aap?

Veer was angry as he looked at both his sister and mother not giving them a chance to talk. He looked up at everyone surrounding them staring and was about to speak his mind when rahul intervened asking everyone politely to step away and give them some room. He got some water and took a napkin from the table nearby to wipe away the blood on her forehead. As unnathi reached to take it from him, it was then that he realized he knew her as their hands brushed against each other. She looked at him tearfully before looking away back at veer and dadi.

' Thank god you phoned me first ma but I don't understand ma, you didn't have to be here for this charity, you could have asked the driver to drop off the cheque, you know dadi's health.. '

Komal knew when her veer was angry it was very hard to calm him down. How could she tell him that that it was dadi who wanted to come here and bring unnathi out of the house as she was not herself ever since she came home.

The paramedics had just arrived and were checking on dadi as veer took her hands in his' she opened her eyes and smiled faintly as she was being lifted onto the stretcher.

'Its ok dadi, we are here with you'

'Unnathi, you and mom go with dadi, I will meet you'll at the hospital'

'Veer'.

He leaned towards her'..

'Maya' maya' yaha'

Before she could say anything else she was pushed away, but he heard her, every ounce of him heard her'..

' MAYA'''

Rahul heard him and turned around

'Even your dadi was calling for some maya '.. and that's how she fell but no one stopped or even responded to that name'

Veer knew there was a time an place for everything and rest assured if maya was there he would find her by the end of the night but right now he needed to get to the hospital.

Maya had just missed veer by a few inches as she finally made her way to rahul. She was wondering what was going on as she had seen the ambulance here but she was unable to come forward as fatty was throwing a tantrum. As rahul explained what had happened, she felt an odd chill and reached up to feel her necklace, which always comforted her realizing its not there' she paid less attention to rahul as he was telling her about the name that the old lady was calling, she was looking all around the floor in panic.

'Kya hua Mona? What are you looking for?'

Maya's heart sank as tears welled up ''.fearing she lost his chain' she lost her veer'.
