It takes a big man to step back for a bit and let his wife find her footing again. I think he is probably waiting for his medical license and will be a visiting surgeon at KEM soon. With that on his resume - he should have no issues getting back on a good hospital's payroll back in the US. It would be hard to build up a practice though.
Wonder why it is taking so long to get that license, considering Shiv Sena runs the corporate office and Bal Thackeray is only a phone call away for her.
I don't think that he has anything to do with her career choices - including the secretary she hires. I think they are just using his name to keep things neutral - its worse if she sacks Rikku openly.

He is not a top doctor. He is a regular surgeon and he wasn't in a huge metropolitan area like New York either. That reduces salaries. Not to mention that he's fairly young so he wouldn't even be established for such a long time to make that much money. Surgeons are usually still doing their residency into their 30's. They make very little money in that time. The also have a lot of college and medical school loans to pay off. Madhuri's money was probably supporting him during the early part of his training. 😆

The average salary for a cardiothoracic surgeon in the US is about 400K a year. It's not that high to be honest. There is also a lot of risk and major stress associated with the job. If you make a small mistake, you might end up killing someone and get sued.

Mads probably made more money in easy 3 months of Jhalak than he would make in an entire year. There are also lots of extras like ads and endorsements and dancing at awards shows. She's making bank!
