i want to give some food for thougts.

i was discussing abt this with my friend.

and he is non-veg.
and he said something like. that we cut the plants, wheat, rice, and so many. but we are against the cutting of trees. Same way, in non-veg stream, ppl eat some animals, but they don't kill other animal unnecessarily.

and we breed some animals only for this purpose. and their are some views, that, human is higher level of life. and some animals are lower level. As we don't hesitate when we kill mosquitoes.

But cruelity is something, viciousness in the heart. it is not even same as 'hunting'.
----
when policemen, soldiers kill many other ppl, we never think, that this soldier is cruel. and not a nice heart person , and he cant love any other person now ?

soldier has a purpose, a kind of duty.

same way, some non-veg ppl eat non-veg bcoz of their culture, so they don't feel bad in that. so this is easy for them, to love animals, and eat other animals.

either this is not a culture which has evolved since prehistoric times of they are simply hypocrites....

i cudn't understand ur sentence.

u wrote something, which means, according to u, either one of these is right/true
(i am making a guess that,, there was typo , "of - or ")

1. this is not a culture which has evolved since prehistoric times
2. they are simply hypocrites....

please clear that.
---------
yeah, there were old culture. when humans used to hunt. some used to sacrifice animals.
and it was for food.
so they never thought that this was wrong at emotional level.
they used skin, fat, and other parts too.

well..
As u Made only one line Bold, and opposed only that.
so i think, u agree to other things.

well. A person a soldier can kill others, but still can love other human beings.
he is not hypocrite.

but cruelty will be, when he captures one enemy, and then starts cutting his body parts one by one, and starts enjoying those screams.

we veg ppl, think, that we love animals. but we don't love the way we say it.
and if we can discriminate between mosquito and a parrot.
who gave us that right ?

i saw many ppl, who says they like ants but not mosquitoes.
why ?
yeah there are reasons.
we think for our own profit. 😊

----
i love plants, i like rose.
but i eat other flowers.
i uproot, carrot,radish
but i care for those decorative plants,

once i planted a tomoto plant when i was kid.
i watched it from starting, those little cute tomotoes.
i really loved those. i can say that.
but i ate too.

but same time, i forbid others , when they try to pluck flowers in the garden
bcoz i love flowers. i don't like flowers in a vase too.
but for worship reasons, i go and buy flowers.
and if someone gives me a rose, i feel nice.
(but ofcourse, if i see someone is crushing flowers with shoes, i feel bad)

i love other human beings too
and if one person, will come to my house, and will ask for water, or food. i may give.
but if tomorrow, there will be 1000s outside my house, i may not give then.

there is something a lot more complex going on in the mind.

i think, being non-veg, loving, eating animal. is something personal.
and a complex issue.
---
cruelity is different. it is something, like enjoying at others pain.

"Believers.' Eat the good things that We have provided for you. And be grateful to Allah, if it is Him you worship. He has only forbidden you dead meat, and the blood and flesh of swine, and that on which any other name has been invoked besides that of Allah. But if one is forced to this by necessity, without willful disobedience, nor the transgressing of due limits, then is he guiltless. For Allah is Forgiving, and Merciful." (The Holy Qur'an 2: 172-173)

In First post of the topic, i saw abt Smoking talk.
so i want to add this.
hmm, if a guy who smokes, tell others not to smoke.
i don't find that bad.
He can't quit, but still he wants to warn others. there is nothing bad in that.
In my case, i listen to him too, bcoz he is experiencing the bad effect of smoking.
so it is ok, if he is saying that to us.

i always wondered about this issue. recently, a heated debate going on made me really post this issue. is it right to be a non veg at the same time being an animal lover going around to stop animal abuse? does it make the person a hypocrite if the person is a non veg but would like to stop the abuse of certain animals. i think it's ok to be a non veg as well as loving animals and doing social work to stop it. there are people who have pets and they are non veg. contradictory to this is another example on the same issue that is put forward by my IF friend. a person being a smoker but going around educating people to stop smoking. how far would you go on taking the advice from such a person?

P.S. these examples are taken from celebrities but didn't try to mention them just to avoid biased arguments.

According to me, PETA and any other such organisations are not really synonymous with love for animals. Yes Peta asks people to become veg and not use any kind of animal products. But according to me there can be people who eat meat but also care for animals. For example, you can have a non-vegetarian forest guard who cares about endangered animals and wants to protect them from poachers. There's nothing hypocritic about that. Earlier in the debate many people said that non-vegetarians loving animals amounts to hypocrisy, but according to me it may not be so. It'll be hypocrisy if a non-veg person asks another non-veg person to stop eating meat. But if he wants to save animals from becoming extinct or maybe save animals from people who're unnecessarily harassing them, what's wrong in that and why is that hypocrisy.

I love plants. What should I do - stop eating vegetarian stuff😕 I hate snakes but can't consume them no matter how delectable the Chinese find them to be. I was brought up a vegetarian but we still squashed each and every cockroach that happened to cross our way in our house back in India. I absolutely love the baby oranges all green and hard and watch their progress as they grow and ripe on the naval orange tree in my backyard. I enjoy them lot more than the oranges I buy from the grocery shop but I can't fathom killing my pet chicken and gobbling it up even though I like eating chicken.
How can one possibly connect meat eating and animal love to be inversely proportional to each other - beats me.

What about vegetarian and not loving animals??? And I am not talking about roaches and lizards. I am talking about dogs, cats, cows!!! Loads of people out there who treat animals most cruelly while claiming to be vegetarians!

It is just a common misconception to connect vegetarianism with animal loving and meat eating to be cruelty to animals.

While many are vegetarian because of compassion for animals, vegetarians could be so for health reasons, religious reasons etc. Some were just brought up that way and can either not digest meat or feel plain queasy about eating it.

Similarly meat eaters also do not eat meat because they dislike animals or do not care for them. They eat meat as food. Just like many humans have done for centuries.

I think people will find it surprising that in many parts of the world hunters are the most active participants in habitat restoration, wildlife restoration and assisting in anti poaching activities.

What you eat has nothing to do with respecting the balance in the world around you.

I used to eat meat for as long as I can remember.. but about a year and a half ago I quit eating meat and became a vegetarian. It was not for religous reasons but mainly for ethical reasons. Now, I am a lacto-vegetarian. I don't care if people eat meat but as long as they aren't ignorant about where the meat comes from.
