i always wondered about this issue. recently, a heated debate going on made me really post this issue. is it right to be a non veg at the same time being an animal lover going around to stop animal abuse? does it make the person a hypocrite if the person is a non veg but would like to stop the abuse of certain animals. i think it's ok to be a non veg as well as loving animals and doing social work to stop it. there are people who have pets and they are non veg. contradictory to this is another example on the same issue that is put forward by my IF friend. a person being a smoker but going around educating people to stop smoking. how far would you go on taking the advice from such a person?

P.S. these examples are taken from celebrities but didn't try to mention them just to avoid biased arguments.

Have you heard of "Born Again" term πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜†

There is a saying in sanskrit "jeevo Jivasya jeevanam"
Meaning : Knowingly or unknowingly a larger life form consumes a smaller life form, thence complete ahimsa is not possible. Also in this respect one must define right or justifiable himsa, and unjustifiable himsa. Bhagavat - 1.13.46 .. (1)

Personally me think it is ok to be non vegetarian and stil love animals and support the right cause. Although I myself am a vegetarian & am extremely fond of all animals. I just can't stand the animal cruelty. I am not a debator but wanted to post something on this topic 😊

Nice post Raunaq!
very well-said DB πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ and whoever said u r not a debater

boring post alert for the following rant, sorry.. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

There are many kinds of people in general when it comes to their feelings towards other animals IMO.
1. those who care for all kinds of animals, are vegetarians and will not use animal products and will not hurt / harm animals πŸ˜ƒ
2. those who care for all kinds of animals, will consume only the ones that are raised for food purpose, and will not hurt / harm other animals πŸ˜ƒ
3. those who are vegetarian, yet will hurt animals for pleasure (putting firecrackers on cat's / donkey's tail around diwali times) 😑😑 - hypocrites
4. those who are non vegetarians and also don't care for animals 😑
5. those who have hidden agendas and oppose to research based on animals while they themselves consume animal meat (animals in reserach institutes also follow stringent protocols of raising and sacrifice to reduce harm as much as possible) 😑
6. those who genuinely feel tortured by animal research, and themselves do not eat non veg and hurt animals πŸ˜ƒ

i am a nonvegetarian since marriage yet I dearly dearly love animals.
I do thank the ones that help me get rid of my anemia 😳 and I believe in my mind that their sacrifice will fetch them better life next time around.

don't laugh sweety! It happens where there are stray animals in streets in several places in India. In pune, I have rescued 2 dogs and 4 - 5 donkeys from such idiots! Mostly they were kids, but even kids doing it is NOT OKAY 😑😑 I was a kid too and I used to threaten to do the same to their leg when they were sleeping. The animals cry loud and start running and jumping like crazy. It is far from funny 😭😭.

Parents should teach their kids to love animals instead of torturing them.

Well i think its perfectly ok. Whether a non-vegetarain or a vegetrain, we all use animal products such as fur coats, lipstick (It is made from the gills of a fish) etc. So if ur eating an animal and are still an animal lover its ok because even the non-vegterain people are actually killing that animal by using its products. Animal lovers are those people who love animals. Why cant a vegeterain love animals?? I feel its right. 😊

nice topic Raunaq... being a non-vegetarian, I am against animal abuse... that doesnt really mean that I am a two-faced jerk πŸ˜† but abusing any creature is more painful than their death for them...
I am against south east asian people who eat every, mind it everything in the world but come up for their survival... recently I watched a family eating fish whereas the fish is still breathing and opening its mouth out of pain - it was a very terrible scene to see it... cooks didnt even bothered to let the fish die without water but cut it thru its stomach and put all hot gravy & ingridient in it when he served it onto the table they started eating with chop sticks :(( it was a moment that any human who has heart can feel bad but I was lost for almost a day after watching that fish in pain :(
another incident, in my childhood boys who are fond of playing pranks on every single creature or human... they made a cat pass thru a door but before she completely passed they shut the door so forcefully that the cat lost its tail from its body and both tail and cat was literally dieing with pain......
this kinda abuse is something unacceptable... nonvegetarians who are against ^^ this kinda cruelty are not termed as hypocrites 😳 😳
we must make sure that the animal is not troubled or left in pain for so long...
