The filmfare nominations came out yesterday and unexpectedly Alia was nominated for both popular and critics category. Strangely the ladies of Laapata ladies were not nominated for the popular category which gives an excuse to filmfare to award it to Alia. Filmfare has fallen so down that it was not even getting sponsors this year. Yet I see Kjo and Alia craving for these awards when the entire industry does not care for it. At this point I feel Alia is much bigger than Filmfare and it is beneath her to snatch award from someone deserving. Her fans justified the award last year by saying that it was for popular cateogy and RRKPK was a hit film. I agree! But what is the reason this year ? Jigra was a flop, then why did she get nominated in popular category?

As a fan of Bollywood, I really want the awards to gain some credibility and yet Kjo/Alia are hell bent on destroying these awards year after year. What do you think is the reason that Alia still craves for these awards when the industry does not give a damn. Is it about creating a legacy? Like in 10 years from now, everyone is going to talk about Alia as the most awarded actress in India. Does it help solidifying her legacy ?

The filmfare is going to be on Jigra's first anniversary (11th October). There is no doubt that Alia is getting the popular award or could even win both critics and popular since Jitesh Pillai loved the performance when the film released (he made a huge post on insta) and thought it was the best performance of the year. Alia and Kjo very intelligently stay away from the other awards like zee and iifa since they want to solidify Alia's legacy and filmfare in its 70th year (irrespective of how rotten it has become) is the only award that could do that. I have already seen global magazines like Variety mentioning that Alia is a winner of 6 filmfare awards (India's equivalent of an Oscar).
