'Anupamaa maine KABHI NAHI dekha, Kyunki 2..': Vasudha's Priya Thakur on beating both shows on TRP CHARTS

Ever since the latest TRP ratings were released, one show that has been grabbing everyone’s attention is Vasudha. The show has once again secured the top spot on the TRP charts this week and that too with a massive margin, outperforming popular television dramas like Anupamaa and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. With the show continuing its dream run, fans and industry insiders alike have been curious to know how the cast is reacting to the overwhelming success.

India Forums recently spoke to Priya Thakur, who plays the lead role in Vasudha, about the show becoming the number one program on Indian television. Priya, who comes from a small town in Himachal Pradesh, admitted that she never imagined her show would one day stand ahead of massively popular shows like Anupamaa and Kyunki.

Speaking about the same, she said, “Never. Matlab honestly maine kabhi nahi socha tha because Anupamaa tab hamesha top pe rehta tha. Us time pe bhi sabke mind mein ye baat thi ki woh toh topper hai hi. Aur actually jo show itne time se top kar raha hai, usmein definitely koi baat toh hai. Aisa nahi hai ki woh show achha nahi hai ya kuch. Woh already establish kar chuke hain ki woh number one hai. Ek baar nahi, hazaar baar prove kar chuke hain.”

She further added, “Waise hi Kyunki bhi ek legendary show hai jo itne saalon se chalta aa raha hai. Jab pehle aata tha tab bhi bahut hit tha aur abhi bhi bahut bulandiyan touch kar raha hai. Toh kabhi aisa socha hi nahi tha ki hum inse compete karenge, aur itni close competition hogi. But I would not say it is a competition kind of thing. Vasudha ke liye apne aap mein hi bahut badi baat hai ki show number one hai.”

Priya also made it clear that she does not see the TRP race as defeating any other show. Talking about people claiming Vasudha has beaten Anupamaa and Kyunki, she shared, “Baaki log bol rahe the ki aapne Anupamaa beat kar diya, aapne Kyunki beat kar diya. But I will not say ki humne unhe beat kiya hai. These are ratings jo har week change ho sakti hain. Aaj Vasudha top pe hai, kal koi aur show top pe ho sakta hai. Toh it is not like that.”

When asked if she has watched the two shows herself, Priya revealed, “Kyunki maine bachpan mein dekha hai. Anupamaa maine kabhi nahi dekha because time hi nahi mila, but main definitely dekhna chahti thi because it is the number one show all over India.”
