SRK/Rani have never had that magic with audiences. Their only film together still beloved is KKHH and she's the third wheel, always behind SRK/Kajol. No one is rooting for SRK/Rani together because everyone wants to see SRK/Kajol. None of the SRK/Rani films ever struck a chord with audiences the way SRK did with Kajol, Aish, and Preity. And now Deepika as well with films like Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Pathaan, and Jawan. Rani has only ever been popular with SRK in terms of being the third wheel of a love triangle that centers on SRK and Kajol. She has never had that leading lady status with him in audience's minds.

You're proving my point. Rani was never even in contention for any YRF role with SRK. That shows, that despite her best attempts to ingratiate herself with the Chopra family, she could not get any major roles with SRK, the King of Bollywood, under this production company that was as close to her as family. For Veer Zaara, Kajol and Aishwarya were first choices. Preity came next. Yash Raj never even considered Rani for the female lead and she was only considered suitable for the supporting role. In fact, most of her history has been playing supporting roles whether to Kajol in KKHH and K3G, to Preity in Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega (and Preity has the meatier part in Chori Chori Chupke Chupke), and even in a Bhansali film like Saawariya. Had Kajol not refused KANK, that would be one more film Rani would be secondary in. She's never been first choice for any major role.

Love that you call Aish jobless when she just had PS-2 which swept Salman Khan's movie at the box office. As I said before, when was the last time Rani had a film that made so much money? I think her biggest hit was Talaash where she's a supporting character with no presence. Aish, even before the PS films, had Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which was a hit especially overseas. Happy New Year was given to her before she refused it for the sake of her husband. She has little interest in Bollywood now, because like Kajol has said, the roles aren't there for women their age anymore.
