Kunickaa Sadanand backs Pranit More after sexist joke backlash, says he is ‘a good boy with the right values’

Actor Kunickaa Sadanand has come out in support of comedian Pranit More following the controversy surrounding the viral Rs 370 biryani remark from one of his crowdwork sessions. Reacting to Pranit’s latest apology video, Kunickaa urged people to forgive him while acknowledging that a mistake had been made.

Pranit recently shared a fresh apology on social media after facing widespread criticism over the clip. Responding in the comments section, Kunickaa praised him for accepting responsibility and publicly addressing the issue.

The actor, who shared screen space with Pranit in Bigg Boss 19, described him as “a good boy with the right values.” She noted that performers can sometimes get carried away during live crowd interactions, particularly when the audience is laughing and participating in the moment.

While supporting Pranit, Kunickaa also stressed that society needs to rethink its attitudes towards women. According to her, the issue extends beyond one individual and reflects a mindset that has existed for generations.

In her message, she wrote, “You were not the cause of a generational mindset; you were one of the many who inherited this mindset from generations of objectification.” She concluded her note by saying, “God bless you, I'm sure you will be back with brilliant content. Stay strong, stay mindful.”

Earlier, Pranit had explained that he wanted to address the controversy sooner but was unable to do so after his social media account was suspended. In the video, he admitted that his biggest mistake was not stopping the audience member when objectionable remarks were made during the show.

The comedian said he could have intervened immediately but instead allowed the conversation to continue, which contributed to the situation escalating further. He apologised to those who felt hurt by the incident and stated that he was cooperating with authorities regarding any legal proceedings linked to the matter.

The controversy began after a clip from Pranit’s Gurugram show went viral online. During the interaction, audience member Himanshu Jangra made remarks about a date after spending Rs 370 on a plate of chicken biryani.

The video drew strong criticism across social media platforms, triggering a wider debate around consent, misogyny and accountability in comedy. Both Pranit and Himanshu have since issued public apologies over the incident.
