‘Pranit’s response encouraged me’: Himanshu Jangra breaks silence on viral Rs 370 biryani controversy

Himanshu Jangra, who became the centre of a social media storm over the viral “Rs 370 ki biryani” remark made during comedian Pranit More’s crowdwork session, has now spoken publicly about the controversy. In a video shared by Starvik Design, Himanshu apologised for his comments and claimed that the response he received during the show encouraged him to continue with the joke.

Reflecting on the fallout, Himanshu admitted that the past few days had been extremely difficult. “Avi dekha jaye to condition bhot worse hai,” he said. According to him, neither his family nor people in his hometown were initially aware of the controversy. However, the situation changed when his uncle learned about the viral clip and confronted him over the issue.

Himanshu said he had hoped the controversy would fade within a few days. Instead, he claimed the criticism intensified online. He further stated that his family became concerned after reports of job related consequences and legal action linked to the matter.

Addressing the reason behind the remark, Himanshu said he had heard similar stories being shared during crowdwork interactions and decided to improvise. “Maine improvise kar ke story batayi thi kyunki ispe Pehle jo log bata rahe the, unhone bhi aisi type ki stories batayi thi,” he explained.

He insisted that the comment was made purely in the context of entertainment and did not reflect his actual beliefs. “Maine sirf entertainment ke liye bataya tha, mera koi bhi aisa intention nahi hai, meri koi bhi aisi mentality nahi hai,” added Himanshu.

The viral remark had drawn widespread criticism online, with many users questioning the attitude reflected in the statement. Speaking about the atmosphere during the show, Himanshu said both the audience and the host appeared to treat the moment as a joke.

Referring to comedian Pranit More’s reaction, he stated, “Uske response ko dekhte hue mujhe aur badhava mila.” Looking back at the clip now, he admitted feeling regret. “Ab main jab usko dobara dekhta hoon to mujhe regret hota hai.”

Himanshu also acknowledged that while he initially saw the incident as humour, he now understands that the comments were hurtful and offensive. He added that he has stayed away from social media and distanced himself from fake accounts operating in his name.
