I feel like there was plenty of craze for Ranbir when he entered with that towel song in Saawariya. After that I haven't really seen anything like that.. so he is the last to me so far.

Why Saawariya flopped if there was craze for RK?

Craze is what Salman, Aamir, HR had with MPK, QSQT, KNPH which were also hits. And they did it without cheap antics like removing towel.

So why would people go crazy for them? New generation does not even find old classics good nor likes old stars much as they have already seen different content globally and often seen way better animated films also. Why would they obsess over a star? I have honestly also lost craze for many films I liked as a kid and teen. And lost craze for many actors. Nor I liked anyone after Hrithik and Rani/Preity/Ash generation.

Availability of more options, games, video games, apps, global content, streaming apps etc has totally reduced charm of actors. Otherwise earlier even TV actors had more craze compared to replaceable boys and girls of today.

I dont even know half of the new celebs😆

The Khans Sanjay Dutt Ajay Devgan Akshay Kumar Saif Ali Khan Govinda.Anil Kapoor at least they know how to act in their 90s and those days they star in many films in one go sometimes they release 3-4 films in a year so they have exposed themselves through their work

While the current lots expose themselves through social media but not for their work but their nonsense. I read less of their work and more on their PRs parties drugs clothes dating etc rather than their work. When they are on-screen they can't act to save their lives

You don't reign over someone still rulling. Basic concept.

when that craze happens, ppl imitate you, dress like that, have that hairstyle

actually the only time in recent past i saw something go the ground level is pushpa and all the gestures etc

even look at the hit movies now, we cant think of one song, dialogue, anything which will be remembered after a few months from now

So well said. I remember Ajay was a surprise. People had laughed off when they saw his posters and felt yeh kaise hero banega. But he was surprisingly a good actor, confident and good in action and Phool aur Kaante was a legit hit, beat Lamhe fair and square in clash and its songs broke charts.

Ajay was indeed good unlike usual nepo kids. And overcame barrier for looks, skin colour and lack of dance skills. His looks and fashion sense were always mocked but his intense acting and good action and stunt skills made up for his weaknesses.

His voice modulation was good too. Unlike say, Tiger who has good body, dance and stunt skills but his voice is his biggest weakness.

No such pop culture moment for actors of today. Or signature style or mannerisms or songs. I liked Ranveer for his energy in his debut but Ranveer is a wasted talent IMO. Only Bhansali knows how to channelise his talent and energy. Ranbir has totally bored me with his overgrown manchild roles. Varun etc or the plastic girls do not interest me at all.

Waise hits of today are manufactured hits. They are not organic hits which ran for jubilees earlier. Media made hits. That is why no memorable scene or dialogue.

I daresay even new films of Khans, Akki, HR or AD are not as memorable as their earlier organic hits. Nowadays film releases later but its so called records are published day before release.

Same here. I only know through internet or SM. Otherwise no idea if I see them in ads or TV.

yes, ajay is underrated, ppl talk of swades etc but ajay was always balancing his commercial movies with off beat, great roles like zakhm, bhagat singh, thakshak or playing against his action hero image in hddcs etc right from the beginning. even now he is doing the same.

he doesnt go overboard when he gets a hit neither does he sulk and blame everybody for a flop.

in fact he will the most balanced filmography among all the top actors with films of all genres

and more importantly he did it all on his own without any chopra-johar support and keeping away from cliques, i respect him for that

edit: ranveer is perfect example of how sm and publicity is two edged sword, now it seems like he is burnt out in ppl's mind, maybe slb movie will help him bounce back but he needs to prove himslf beyond slb

i agree, none of the hits today will not be remembered, even pathaan what is the dialogue or anything which is remembered even now, the song became hit more for the controversy

Well said. Ajay also quietly banned awards, chat shows and kept away from filmi media without making announcements like Aamir.

He also used to avoid award shows from mid 90s and once said dancing at award shows or weddings is like doing mujra and he is an actor, not a mujrewala. He is also a wily man who quietly cultivated links with BJP since 90s but never made a show of it and ran successful businesses, expanded his property silently, without bragging in media and letting public think he was an also ran type actor.

He has been fairly stable as a star, improved as an actor, made it without any big banners, looks or physique or dance skills or making social media posts or having meet and greet events with fans or any PR or good relations with media or chat shows etc. He kept doing all sorts of films be it B grade masala films or comedies or family films or drama or artsy films like Raincoat. Nor has he pretended to be perfectionist or thespian despite winning 3 National awards as best actor. Goes about his work. Stays under radar. Has affairs also quietly without tamasha or fallout. Never stopped Kajol from working either. Nor pretends to lecture on causes or national issues. Before Aamir did Lagaan, TZP, RDB, along with commercial fare like Fanaa, Ghajini, Ajay had already been doing all sorts of films.

Ajay has lot of following in small towns and interiors for his masala films.
