The television show Mahadev & Sons recently found itself at the centre of criticism after a scene between its lead characters, Rajji and Dheeraj, disappointed several viewers. A sequence featuring the couple’s intense confrontation has sparked online discussion, with many viewers questioning how the scene was portrayed.

The scene in question showed Dheeraj and Rajji arguing, with Dheeraj pinning Rajji down and telling her that their marriage is only a “samjauta” for him. The situation becomes more intense when Rajji tries to tell him that her hand has touched a hot iron kept nearby. However, Dheeraj stops her from speaking by covering her mouth.

The sequence did not go down well with a section of viewers. Many fans expressed their disappointment with the way the scene was presented. They questioned the makers for depicting emotional and physical aggression between a married couple while setting it within a romantic storyline.

Several viewers took to social media to share their concerns and argued that such scenes should be handled carefully. According to some reactions, showing such behaviour without highlighting the seriousness of the situation can create the impression that unhealthy actions in relationships are being normalised.

Aasim Khan Reacts To The Backlash Over Dheeraj-Rajji Scene

India Forums got in touch with Aasim Khan, who plays the character Dheeraj, to know his reaction and point of view on the scene and fans' reactions.

Talking about the controversy, Aasim said, "There is a bit of controversy going on right now. Domestic violence is something that should be completely stopped, whether it is of any kind, whether a man is torturing a woman, or a woman is torturing a man. So, I am completely against it, and I don't appreciate or encourage this. So, as far as the show is concerned, it is a misunderstanding that has been built up from one episode, and people are getting outraged because of it."

The actor further explained that the scene needs to be seen in the complete context of the storyline. He mentioned that the audience has reacted after watching only one part of the episode, while the entire sequence will give more clarity about the situation.

He added, "Before that, there is a scene in which Dhiraj throws water on Rajji from the bucket. That is because Rajji is quite drunk. And in that drunk state, she says something that the whole family is trying to protect. So, he throws water on Rajji. I mean, this outrage only comes after watching half the episode and half the thing. After watching the whole episode, I hope everything will be clear to the audience. And the rest is, everything is fine. This keeps going on. The rest is, neither do the makers encourage anything like this, to show anything like this through domestic violence, nor do I personally want to be a part of anything like this. So, everything is positive. And, fine, I believe."

Aasim Khan also made it clear that neither he nor the makers support or encourage any domestic violence. He stated that the scene is part of a storyline involving misunderstandings and emotions, and viewers will understand the complete situation after watching the full episode.

The controversy has drawn attention to how sensitive issues are portrayed on television, especially in relationships and family drama.

While some viewers continue to express their concerns, the actor has shared his perspective and clarified his stand on the matter.

As of now, the makers of Mahadev & Sons have not issued an official statement regarding the backlash the scene has received. The show continues with its storyline, while viewers wait to see how the track unfolds.
