I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they were leads during the same time and the kind of movies that they have done are similar in the sense that they all have been romantic movies but have been essentially different in their approach too.

Also, the kind of personalities that they are off-screen, where Salman has a bad boy image with the court cases and multiple girlfriends over the years, a product of nepotism

SRK is seen more like a self made man, with him being loyal to his school time sweetheart.
