Well it was Pooja Bhatt's interview that gave me the idea albeit it was 10 years ago so this puberty phase has lasted a decade it seems. 😆

I think either he had to suppress who he was to a certain extent while his Dad was around despite coming out.

He and Shweta B are obsessed with tapping into these young people's social media, self admittedly, 'uski jawani jo dhalti nahin, aur uska usse koi gham nahin'.

Re. Characters, dunno whether it's just me reading more into it, but there's always one that reminds me of him-Kusha Kapila in Ghost Stories delving into her friend's sex life and the whole vibe of that show seemed an extension of his annoying 'toodles' phase.

There is no doubt that Karan loves Alia. He takes pride in Alia's success and bragg about it, like a middle class or upper middle class parent . I can even imagine KJO emotionally blackmailing her with a dialogue similar to" I have carried you within me for 10 months " .😆I think he tried to build similar role in Kajol's life initially but then she was a senior and in a better position than Karan ,also she was never ambitious. Her priorities were different and was obsessed with Ajay.Before Alia ,it was project Kareena but she was not submissive and her personality was not easily manipulative. But in Alia's case ,his influence is undeniable. He made her career at the same time he influence her with his perspective on beauty standard. There is no doubt that she loves Ranbir but I believe the alliance and even early pregnancy was the advice of Karan .So if Karan is a magic wand for Alia,Karan attains fulfillment in playing an indispensable role in Alia's life.

But i have wondered it too. When she was in SOTY, it's not like she was super talented (like now) and she wasn't the prettiest, Sana ate her up and even Mansi was pretty when she wasn't given random ass dresses and clothes to make Alia look the prettiest in the room.

About him working with Tripti. We don’t know if he will go all out for her. It all depends on how their relationship develops.

kjo wont promote any outsider like tripti, he is no rgv, he needs the family connections, he is entrenched in that heirarchy, he probably believes acting is in that blood 😆or some such

he is no prof higgins, he needs vaildation from the mentee as much as the mentee does from him

he will find some other insider or become irrelevant himself

Wanted someone insider but someone from not very powerful or respectable family, whom he can puppeteer on his whims and not be questioned about it. Wanted someone young and impressionable. Alia ticks all these boxes for him.

I agree, its as if kjo was finding someone like alia, alia is pretty so she ticked the good looks criteria, he wanted her to prove to people that she could act so he got her highway. Once she was praised for highway that solidified it for kjo, and from then on he has held alias hand and never let go.

Alia has admitted that she blindly trusts kjo, she said that kjo told her she was doing takht and she said yes without even knowing what role she was playing or what the script is. And thats what kjo wants, someone who will say yes to what he says, and as someone already mentioned, he is proud to have his name associated with hers, he is happy that people say alia is here becuase of kjo, and alia doesn't mind people saying it aswell.

This is what she said about takht:

She said, "Honestly, I don’t know what Takht is about. Karan called me one day and said, 'I am making this film and you have to be a part of it.' So, I said, 'Okay, I am not even listening to the script; you know I’ve to be a part of it.' It’s only recently when we were in Bulgaria that I said, ‘accha bata do kya kar rahi hoon main film mein.’ But I’d do this only with Karan because he is somebody whom I will blindly work with." She also added, "Even if I am doing something, I will drop it all to work with him. That’s how much I love and owe him."
