Frankly, when predictions of Anuj were happening, his Bengali version had the most battered storyline going on. Rohit sacrificing everything possible to save Sreemoyee from trouble and she will constantly reject him because it doesn't "suit" and elderly lady to remarry. Rohit would teach all those pestering Sreemoyee a lesson, be it June, Kia, Aniruddha (Jumbo) or Patralekha and the she would conveniently forgive them and treat Rohit like an outsider, asking him to leave whenever his words made her "real" family uncomfortable.
Yes they are now married but only because Rohit is terminally ill and Sreemoyee has suddenly woken from her slumber that her sacrifices for the fake Senguptas is meaningless.
Seeing that all versions have a similar broad storyline with only some details changed, I didn't want another battered character. I really didn't want Anuj introduced!
When Advait was the introduced as an inspiration for Anu and then exited from the show, I hoped they don't show a romantic lead for Anu and have her achieve professional growth with help of Hasmukh, Samar and Kinjal.
But No... NO NO NO...
They did have to show that Anupamaa is stupid enough to get herself in a mess, she cannot get out of, and needs a MAN to help her. Teens watch this show too, what is it teaching them? That unless you have a man, you cannot "make it"?
While I get that the message to be okay with remarriage at an older age is a good one, it will take more than a year before we get there. Till then we will have plenty of people judging Anupamaa, and to pacify them, her treating Anuj like dirt!
And while Anuj will be strong before everyone, he will be as much of a doormat to Anupamaa, as she has been to Vanraj and Leela!
Two very pathetic and toxic tracks, too much for me to handle. Which is why I have reduced posting here these days and just fast forward while watching the show to know the gist.
