When the makers choose a male centric theme it revolves around a Quest or adventure or problem solution.

Our sub continent viewers are mostly women. That is why our soaps are rehashed projecting the way they overcome their struggles.

Anuj repeatedly says anupama doesn't need a man to give her an identity. By you definition Rakhee is right as marriage should be between equals. How often to write read of folks giving up their claim to fame for the sake of the soulmate.

When a divorcee man or widower mostly marries a young bride by saying anupama should marry a widower or divorcee who is middle class we are reiterating the thinking of patriarchy.

Anupama should have got a guy but not a rich man. Why always a rich suave guy?

This show was for middle class people and to find it relatable

I dont care whether Anuj is divorced, widower or even unmarried.

Anupama will make the home with Anuj in true sense.

Someone not moving on may be exaggeration. Also, like you pointed out, showing him as rich businessman is a common ingredient in all soaps. Makes me wonder how the story would have turned out "if" Anuj was normal middle class, holding a simple job.

That said, some of it could be true in real world too. It is natural for humans to get drawn towards love and affection. You notice this in little children. They will be more attached to who ever is affectionate towards them than anyone who is strict.

Grown ups are like that too. In Anupama's case, she has not experienced the love & affection from the one who should have been affectionate to her, that is her spouse V. Instead, all she got was being told that she is good for nothing! So, I would not be surprised if she is drawn to someone who is affectionate & caring towards her.

Reg. Anuj still having feelings for her, that is also possible. She must have had quiet an impression on him. I can vouch for this first hand, how someone remembered me after many years oblivious to me ... 😉 my personal story for another day. 😳 But the point is, Anuj having feelings for her is possible. But, not moving is a bit hard to relate to.

But No... NO NO NO...

They did have to show that Anupamaa is stupid enough to get herself in a mess, she cannot get out of, and needs a MAN to help her. Teens watch this show too, what is it teaching them? That unless you have a man, you cannot "make it"?

While I get that the message to be okay with remarriage at an older age is a good one, it will take more than a year before we get there. Till then we will have plenty of people judging Anupamaa, and to pacify them, her treating Anuj like dirt!

And while Anuj will be strong before everyone, he will be as much of a doormat to Anupamaa, as she has been to Vanraj and Leela!

Two very pathetic and toxic tracks, too much for me to handle. Which is why I have reduced posting here these days and just fast forward while watching the show to know the gist.

Then he should have not accepted Anupama's idea.

Let her grow on her own

II think they made anuj single for a reason. Anupama's first love had been vanraj and it was unrequited. She needed to maybe feel that pure special bond that first love often times is. A widower or a divorcee would have been much more realistic agreed but it wouldnt have created the same charm in her life.
